New thread. Should last us a week.

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Wow one day off and I feel totally lost on here!

Got my third blood test today so I'm hoping that my results will come back as normal this time!

On top of all my troubles is my partner. Not only did he have concussion last weekend from a kick in the head at football, he is now in hospital having trauma to his kidney from a football tackle. I was there till 4 this morning coz I knew I'd only worry about him if I went home to an empty bed. Turns out he needs to stay in for a few days while they keep an eye on him so I'm totally worried about him and myself because I know I'm not going to sleep properly until he is safe and back at home with me! :(

BarbieLovesKen · 12/04/2011 12:13

Thank you all so, so much for your replies last week. Each one really meant the world and put me at ease. I really wanted to reply individually but now, of course, have fallen way behind on this thread. I have taken your advice and am going for a 3d/4d scan on Sunday. I wasnt going to as its "non medical" but as some of you helpfully pointed out (Joanne/ Nurse) it will probably put my mind at ease to see our baby.

Im quite excited too as I've never had a 3d scan before, the clinic is up in Dublin so its about an hour and a half away from ours, myself and dh are going to make a day of it and go out for dinner etc.. we're between minds on whether to bring dd with us (5) or not, it would be a lovely memory for her and it may make her understand a little better but Im worried in case something would be wrong. (Unlikely really, though). If not we'll be getting a dvd to bring home with us. Cant wait.

Jer I was induced with dd at 10 days overdue. She was due on the 29th of the month and didnt appear until the 10th of the following month.

With ds (I know you didnt ask Grin) I thought the same would happen to be honest but he arrived at 40+2 (and at 7.20am on the second day "late" and labour started with my waters breaking at 1.10am so I count him really as being 1 day overdue).

I dont have as much as a vest bought for this baby!!!! All this talk of washing clothes and finished nurseries is really panicing me. Have to get my bum in gear. Really need to pack (or start buying things to put into) hospital bag at the very least....

Thanks a million again all....

8rubberduckies · 12/04/2011 13:25

Ah Barbie I am glad you are feeling more at ease and positive, having a 3d scan will be a great experience too (as will having dinner out yumyum!!). If you are worried about taking dd, although I am sure there is no reason to, I'm sure she would gain lots from seeing the DVD. Plus, you get some quality adult time for the two of you as well!

Jer I was overdue with ds, and induced at 10 days just like Barbie. Apparently he was very comfortable in there and not making many signs of shifting, so he could have been in there a bit longer with his feet up!

He literally had his feet up luckily, but I am starting to get concerned about this one still being breech Shock.

Crazychic sending positive thoughts to your husband, hope he gets better quickly and is back safe at home soon!

sasamaxx · 12/04/2011 13:43

Jer - sorry to be adding to the trend, but with my first, I was also induced - at 12 days overdue

neenewps maxi-cosi car seat instructions tell you how to take the covers off. Look in the little cubby-hole at the back - the instructions are often in there.

32 + 4 today

takethatlady · 12/04/2011 14:19

Been lurking for a few days as not much to report over here.

I read somewhere that on average first babies are 8 days overdue.

That would mean Isobel will be born on my 29th birthday. Which would be good, because then when I turn 30 nobody will remember because she'll be 1, and when I turn 50 nobody will remember because it will be her 21st Grin

jasmine51 · 12/04/2011 14:21

needewps I seem to remember finding an instruction pdf online too, probably on the maxicosi website - will see if I can find it again.

crazychic best wishes to your DH, sounds like a horrible thing to be happening.

Barbie enjoy your scan

House is now pine cot-less, went really quickly on Freecycle so glad it has found a good home...just got to wait for my new one to be delivered.

Does anyone else feel like they have an elephant sitting on their chest? I cant work out what is going on, I feel like I do when Im laying on my back and I cant breathe properly but its been like this for 48 hours now and I'm getting a headache from it. It kept me awake last night as I was gasping for breath and its no better now I'm up and about...quite disconcerting.

Today I am mostly being powered by chocolate croissants by the way...so think of me tonight at yoga enjoying a croissant crumb shower from my cleavage.

Merlion · 12/04/2011 14:27

Jer DS was 10 days early (although on my original due date prior to being put back by the dating scan).

Barbie you sound so much happier about things. I think I'm with 8rd and would be nice to spend some time on your own with DH and would make it special for you too if you have doubts about taking DD.

TTL would be a lovely birthday present Smile

Crazy hope your DH gets out soon and that you manage to get some sleep.

8rubberduckies · 12/04/2011 14:36

TTL If I am 8 days late, baby will arrive the day before my 35th birthday... I am petrified of her turning up on my birthday, as I am far too selfish, even at my age, to share cake and limelight! I share my birthday with my Dad and dp shares his with his Mum, I came slap bang in the middle of my Dad's 21st birthday party Grin.

Joannezipan · 12/04/2011 14:38

Hello everyone,

Crazy that sounds awful, at least he is on the mend although I guess maybe banned from playing footie for a while at least!

Barbie I'm glad you are going for the scan. I'm quite Envy as I really wanted a 3/4d scan, but we couldn't justify the expense.

I am feeling happier with the world today, I was in a mega grump yesterday and this morning as work just felt never ending and hard. So I decided that i'm going to make it a bit easier on myself and take some of my holiday before I go on maternity leave. So after this week I'm only working 4 days a week until maternity leave starts. In weeks which don't have bank holidays i'm going to have wednesdays off so work will only be in 2 day chunks. Hopefully then I will be able to avoid being so hideous to DH; not that he seems to mind - he is being lovely about it, but that some how makes it worse!

BarbieLovesKen · 12/04/2011 14:54

Crazychic - sorry to hear about your dp. My God, you two are having a rough time of it!!. Will cross everything for normal test results. Hope your ok Smile.

8, thanks a mill once again for the kind message. I used to say that about dd too - that I made it much too comfortable for her (and that she just didnt want to leave her mum!). Smile.

Sasamaxx oooh 12 days - were you like an absolute bear?? those 10 days were like another 10 months to me. Its tough going "over" (although Id obviously prefer that than baby arriving too soon)

TTL I love working out what age mine will be when I'm such an age too. Said to dh the other day that on my 40th birthday dd will be 20 (Shock), ds will be 16 and this one will be 15!!!!!! (and no more Wink)

Jasmine (thank you). I do feel like that but only when I am lying on my back. Watch the headache, dont panic, Im sure your fine - just very pregnant but if it persists/ you dont feel quite right it may be best to give your MW/GP a call.

Merlion I am, thanks a million Smile. (bet your ds was actually the 5% that arrived on time really...pah to dating scans.)

Joanne great decision re the leave - I felt so much better when I decided to finish up a little earlier plus great idea to take Wednesdays - I'd usually go with a Monday/ Friday for a long weekend but Wednesday really breaks up the week and 2 blocks of 2 days sounds manageable. Enjoy Smile.

4 weeks today and Ill officially be on leave from both work and college (my last exam is on the Monday). Grin. Cannot wait to just relax at home with dc and get house in order - bliss Smile.

33 weeks tomorrow!!!

KaraStarbuckThrace · 12/04/2011 15:55

Barbie - great about your scan, it'll be brilliant! Just Hmm & Angry that you are having to go down that route, as your AN care is so crap! I hope your PN is a lot better!!

Jer - I went 4 days over with DS.

I am shattered! Took DS to Locomotion (part of the National Rail Museum) in County Durham, about 45min train ride from where we live, decided to take the train and not the car as it is tricky to find. Plus DS will fall asleep in the car and I don't want him to otherwise he'll be difficult to get to bed. I'm on my own as DH is staying overnight at a friend's near where he works, he has a late finish tonight and an early start tomorrow.

Luckily haven't got much on workwise tonight!

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 12/04/2011 16:53

Jer DS was exactly 1 week over, or 9 months and 1 day after he was concieved Blush (yes I do know exactly what date and time it happened! Blush & [dirty stop out emoticon])

Clarkiee I feel your moving pain. We're moving on Friday and I've literally only packed 3 boxes so far. I'm looking forward to getting into the new place, parking a chair in the (private!) back yard and not moving from it (weather permitting of course) until it's time to raid the fridge go to hospital and push Grin. I hope your move is as stress free as possible.

Sorry to everyone else I've neglected to mention. The sun burning my retinas out is making it hard to concentrate.

Joannezipan · 12/04/2011 17:21

I must admit I hate moving the idea of having to do it while heavily pg is my idea of hell! I'm having enough problems with cleaning the bathroom and hoovering the living room at the moment! I think if I had to I would pay for the removal company to do everything and hide for the day! So good luck with that Clarkiee and Confessions rather you than me!

NurseSunshine · 12/04/2011 17:36

Oh dear, am way behind.

Crazy, wow football sounds dangerous. Hope your DP is OK, sure he will be, they'll just need to keep an eye on him as it's a head injury. Hopefully he'll be back at home with you in no time.

Barbie, glad you're feeling a bit better and pleased for you that you're getting your 4d scan (also a bit Envy Joanne Grin ) It is absolutely scandalous that you've had to go down that route though, what will postnatal care be like do you think? I guess at least this isn't your first, you know what to expect and so on but still unacceptable. It's not like healthcare is free in the republic either, you bloody well pay so what's their excuse??!

Jasmine I feel a bit like that, as though I can't draw breath or inflate my lungs sufficiently which can be horrible. If it's really bad though speak to your midwife :)

Talk with X went quite well on saturday, he's agreed to my maintenance suggestion and as for access he works shifts so it'll be different every week but he sounds as though he might actually be there for Jasmine and help me out I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

Hope you've got sun, whereever you are :)

KaraStarbuckThrace · 12/04/2011 18:46

Nurse - glad your talk with X went well :)

petitech · 12/04/2011 20:05

Well...I've finally found my way back to the thread...for a while I seemed to keep finding the one before but not the latest one. Hope everyone is doing well, not sure if anyone still remembers me, I was on the original stats, due 3rd June, all going pretty well so far although I am on countdown to finish work and countdown for the little bean to arrive! Seems like I've missed a LOT of chat!

KaraStarbuckThrace · 12/04/2011 20:21

Hello Petitech :)

8rubberduckies · 12/04/2011 20:26

I remember you petitech! Welcome back! How much time in work do you have left?

Although I finish on May 6th, as I work a four day week and I've got a couple of days TOIL booked as well as all the bank holidays I worked out today I've only got 10 working days left! Hurray! Smile

Nurse great news on the ex front, sounds like he wants to do the right thing Smile.

Confessions and Clarkiee good luck! I moved when pg with ds at 6.5 months, the lead up to the move was the worst bit as all I wanted to do was get involved, but the actual day wasn't so bad as I was banished to the kitchen of the new house making bacon sarnies and tea for all the helpers! Will be thinking of you both.

petitech · 12/04/2011 20:35

Hi there, I finish on May 12th but with all the bank holidays I have only 4 and 3 day weeks left, thank goodness! I thought I would be super woman and work right up until the last minute. Boy did I underestimate how tired and cotton-wool headed I would become!

sasamaxx · 12/04/2011 20:43

Hi again Petitech

I agree Barbie - so rubbish the treatment you've had so far but yay for getting to see your baby at this stage Smile

nurse that's great that your talk went well - hope he steps up to the mark when he is needed.

I am shattered too Kara and depressingly, my ferritin, iron stores and vit b12 results all came back normal so no explanation for utter exhaustion Sad

FINALLY got a physio appt for 5th May - only another 3 weeks to wait - been waiting about 5 already. Pretty poor show really.

petitech · 12/04/2011 20:45

Barbie I had a 3d scan a few weeks ago and it was amazing!

NurseSunshine · 12/04/2011 20:45

Thanks kara and 8rd :)

I remember you petitech Grin

How exciting, we're all nearly finished work now! It's my last day at uni on friday, I am SO relived!

8rubberduckies · 12/04/2011 20:52

Sasamaxx I had a blood test last week for iron deficiency and found out today that my iron level is excellent Hmm! Can't blame the exhaustion on that then... will just have to blame it on something else...

petitech I thought that I would keep battling on through with ds1 and work til 2 weeks before I was due, but I really underestimated how much I'd need to slow down in the last few weeks, especially having spd. I am being very lazy cautious this time and finishing 6 weeks before my due date.

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 12/04/2011 20:58

HELP! What's the next thing to take for reflux when gaviscon does't do anything?! And has anyone ever had reflux so bad they're thrown up? Because I feel like that might be next Sad

If the theory that different pg symptoms to previous children means you're having the other sex, then this has to be a girl, because the 2 or 3 times I had reflux with DS was nothing like this. (bets on that as soon as I stand up I need a wee?)

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 12/04/2011 21:04

Oh Yuck! just saw the OK add with yucky can't stand her anyway Mariah Carey naked and pg with twins on the cover. BOAK.
