Really sorry to hear that jasmine - happened to a friend of mine last year with very similar timing. Was tough but they got through it - on the brighter side her DH got some extra time to spend with the baby. You never know how these things work themselves out - hope it does work out ok for you.

LadyKaraStarbuckofThrace · 29/04/2011 12:43

Oh fuck Jasmine, I am so sorry :(

Will catch up properly keep getting distracted by wedding threads!

I had a dream the other night that someone else (not sure who!) was told they would have to give birth at 32 weeks and was really worried. So I told them Clarkiee had her twins at 32 weeks and they were fine! I also got my legs tattooed in the same dream as well...

AlmightyCitrus · 29/04/2011 13:15

Oh heck Jasmine. Not good news.
My DH was made redundant around the same time I got pregnant. It's been a bit of a struggle financially, but in other ways, it's been great. We've spent tons of time together and he's been much involved in this pregnancy than he ever was in the others. His old boss has started up again and DH is doing a few hours part time. It's not ideal but we manage. I'm sure you will too.

NurseSunshine · 29/04/2011 13:47

Really sorry to hear that Jasmine, hope you're both OK

LisasCat · 29/04/2011 14:41

Jasmine I'm so sorry for your news. I'm curious how they broke it to him. It's a bank holiday and he's at home on leave. They didn't do something really cruel like an email, did they?

motherofsnortpigs · 29/04/2011 16:17

jasmine that's so completely rubbish. If me giving birth in a yurt on the clumps would cheer you up, I'd do it. Probably need to wait for the Summer Solstice for the full effect :)

Thornykate · 29/04/2011 20:59

Sorry to hear your bad news Jasmine, hopefully something else will be along soon, was this on the cards or has it come out of the blue? Awful either way though.

Glad things are working out for your DH in similar circumstances almighty, it is hard to see how things will work out sometimes but reassuring to hear when they do.

Looking forward to reassurance scan tomorrow, I know that if i don't get baby's position confirmed I will spend rest of pg worrying. Really wish I had seen my regular MW (she is on annual leave) as I know she would have taken her time & been more thorough.

I hope I haven't missed anything but does anyone know how storm & family are? It's been Playing on my mind for ages now hope all is well.

sasamaxx · 29/04/2011 22:01

I've wondered about Storm too lately ...

Joannezipan · 30/04/2011 08:53

Jasmine that sucks! I hope you both get something sorted out, but it could end up being a good thing in the long run maybe?

We are going to the seaside today - Yay! I'll think of you all as I eat my fish and chips and ice cream.

Clarkiee · 30/04/2011 12:18

Thank you for all the lovely, kind comments Smile Sorry I've not had time to respond personally.

They are both out of the incubators now Grin just in regular cot thingies (look a bit like tupperware without the lid Grin). I love being able to kiss them whenever I want but most of all I love to smell them- I know that sounds wierd but I'm sure lots of you know what I mean (and if you don't make sure sure you give your baby a sniff when they are born Wink). They have both put on weight (Naomi has gone from 3lb 9oz to 3lb 14 oz and Ciara 2lb 12oz to 3lb 2.5oz) and they seem to be getting the hang of a bit of breast feeding.

Can't wait to bring them home (although it sounds like Naomi will be sent home before her sister, don't like the thought of them being spilt up Sad) but I am a bit worried that we're not ready yet. The hospital is great though me and DH get to stay over 48 hours+ trying exclusive breast feeding, with support, and then they decide if they are ready.

Sorry it's all me me post- so annoying not having the internet yet (though I am a bit busy Grin). But I'm looking forward to having a proper catch up soon, take care ladies xxxx

p.s. moomin sounds like Florence is nearly on her way home- congratulations Grin

NurseSunshine · 30/04/2011 13:20

That's great news Clarkiee, sounds like your doing an amazing job of feeding them up Grin I'm sure the hospital won't send you home until you're totally confident.

AlmightyCitrus · 30/04/2011 13:29

Aww, that's really good news Clarkiee. I remember the smell too. I'm actually looking forward to sniffing new baby!

I'm here for a whinge!
I have an "affliction" called rhinitis. It's like hayfever but I get it all year round and nothing in particular triggers it. I've been sneezing rather a lot for a few days now and have managed to pull muscles on each side of my stomach. And it huuuurrrtts!!! Even sitting down is painful.

Moan over! Hope everyone has a good weekend! Grin

AlmightyCitrus · 30/04/2011 15:38

Oh, and in a second moan....I've just bumped into my midwife in the shop. I've not seen her in a month as she was on holiday for my last appointment. I asked her if she had a nice holiday, she said fine then looked away (we were in the queue) and ignored me.
Snotty cow. Not even a "how are you"?

Pah.

Thanks for the HotMilk link Sasa, feeling a bit blurgh so could be just the ticket to cheer me up, nothing like some retail therapy. You know youre supposed to put on about a 1lb a week now, I honestly think I am putting on like a 1lb a day... bump literally growing before my eyes :) Hope everyone well and enjoying the sunshine. Four more days til mat leave :D

AlmightyCitrus · 01/05/2011 01:16

Thing is though Supersunnyday she's known DH since he was a kid. None of the others have ever been like that. I don't think she likes me very much. I get a bit of a "vibe" from her, never had that with the others.

Morning all. Up far too early for a Sunday, but I'm sure you know what it's like. Fed up of tossing and turning and snoring and snuffling...

So I'm watching the Easter special of Gardeners World I recorded last week... how sad is that?!

Jasmine any more details yet - how is it looking? Any other prospects for DH? Do you have a plan? I've been made redundant several times (v common in my line of work) and more often than not it's turned out to be a blessing in disguise and the start of something better. Hope it's the case for you.

Thorny how was your scan? Reassuring I hope.

Clarkiee so happy for you and your two lovelies. Bet you can't wait to get them home. I'm itching to experience that baby smell wonder too.

Almighty hope your rhinitis gets better soon - is it linked to spring pollen? Is there anything you can take? And what a rude midwife - I'd be really upset by that.

Supersunny your hols sound good, despite the prg niggles. I know what you mean about the snoring though. I'm waking MYSELF up these days with it! In fact, just about to Google it and see if there's owt I can do... will let you know.

Petitech all good the weight gain - little bubs is fattening up, ready for the big wide world!

Well, last week was a hectic one, finishing work, breaking a tooth, falling off a chair into a flowerbed (we're fine, it was just embarrassing) and generally getting into mat leave mode. But I'm there now and will start my lists today. Anyone still not packed their hospital bag? I haven't! And officially 36 weeks today, so must get a move on!!

Ooh, and first baby of my NCT group has arrived, so all getting very real indeed.

Hope everyone has a good Sunday.

takethatlady · 01/05/2011 08:28

almightycitrus I suggest kneecapping her at your next appointment Grin

jasmine I'm so sorry to hear your news - I really hope you'll be able to sort things out soon. I know it's no consolation but sometimes these things seem to happen for a reason and I really hope it leads to something great for your DH.

Awwwwww clarkiee it's so lovely to hear your news :) Congratulations on bfing. Two of my DH's sisters are twins and were born at 32 weeks back in 1984 when I'm guessing neonatal care was much worse than it is now - one of them had a hole in her heart and was very very poorly. The stronger baby came home about eight weeks before the other, I think. No ill effects now - both are party-mad 26-year-old primary school teachers able to down entire bottles of vodka at alarming rates Grin - and they're very close. So I guess what I'm trying to say is that however tricky it is to have Naomi home before Ciara, they'll never know about it and you'll have them together before you know it :)

supersunny I'm glad you're snoring too. My DH now has a rather nice set of orange earplugs and nobody I know has ever heard of pregnancy-induced snoring so they think I'm just a big noisy pig Grin

takethatlady · 01/05/2011 08:31

Oops, xpost bprincess. How exciting about your NCT group. I haven't even started my NCT classes yet! They start on Thursday. Considering I'll be nearly 33 weeks I do think they're leaving it a teensy bit late!

I haven't packed my hospital bag. I haven't even thought about it. Maybe I'll make a start on it today ...

BPrincess · 01/05/2011 08:43

Takethat how long will your nct classes go on? I had the choice of two, one March/April, another that would still be going on now, which was actually nearer to where I live, but I figured the first one would be a safer option! I did enjoy them though, as did DP.

Apparently snoring is pretty common in prg, especially in last trimester. The usual causes, hormones, increased mucous production blah blah. My DP has been sleeping in the spare room for the last couple of weeks, but his brother is coming today to help out laying a patio, so he'll be back with me for a few nights, poor thing! I'll get him a pair of earplugs as a special treat.

jasmine51 · 01/05/2011 09:08

Just a quick hello to say thankyou for all your kind messages. Feeling very very low atm and not really in the mood for chatting. DH is not the easiest person to live with at the best of times as you might have gathered and I'm spending as much time as possible eating chocolate getting out and away from the house. Got a MW apt on Thursday which I'm looking forward to cos I'm still feeling ill and I cant believe this is normal. Bump is still thrashing around though so I know someone is feeling full of beans.
Very jealous of all your NCT classes by the way - mine dont start for another 2 weeks!...I would like to put a bet on bump arriving before the course ends.
Have a happy Bank Holiday all x
