OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
wigglesrock · 11/04/2011 21:34

Debka had a nosy at the thread, didn't think you were being overly cheerful Wink If we're sharing good sleeping news, looks like dd2 has finally mastered the art of sleeping without Mummy, I know it sounds silly but in a certain way I miss her demanding cuddles at night Shock Reading it back I am now thinking seriously wiggles, catch yourself on.... you haven't slept properly in 3.5 years Grin

ledkr · 11/04/2011 22:10

Delias- your dd sounds just like mine,do you wake her for 10.30 feed? I dont find it makes adifference,do you need to do it a few nights first? D goes 7.30-5am but her reflux kicks in then so doesnt settle back for a while if at all,it would be better if she went a bit later for all of us.
Im not crazy about the newborn thing either,so flippin unpredictable and hard work too.

Deb,there are some fuckin twats on here.I posted a while back about walking in on fil in the shower, very light hearted as you can imagine, after a few pages people were questioning why i wasnt up and dressed by then and who was looking after dd,s??? They were making out i was neglectfull.Anyway in true ledker style i told em to f off Grin

DD has a red looking pit too and she is bathed daily

wiggles,are you insane woman?

PinkElephant73 · 11/04/2011 22:22

No I get the bad mother award as DS pointed out to me at bathtime (I hadnt noticed) that DD had yellow cheesy stuff in her armpit creases Blush due to not being washed properly. I win! oh dear

she also had lots of belly button fluff type stuff in her fists which I have cleaned out today, what an achievement!

hope everyone is ok, havent had time to post much. school holidays here which is a bit of a nightmare, cant do half the things I would normally do with the boys like swimming, cinema etc. DS1s best friend has gone to America, which is a shame as otherwise they would be out building dens setting light to things .

wigglesrock · 11/04/2011 22:29

Ledkr but have you not realised yet that in some areas of Mumsnet you have to have your sense of humour surgically removed before you are allowed to post or you have to have been a member of Mumsnet for at least 500 years before they allow you into their club Grin

hubbard86 · 11/04/2011 23:58

i am in with f's armpit cheese and behind her knees. If i didn't have naughty harness off time she would stink as it's nylon and velcro. She managed to poop all over the back of it when her nappy exploded so i've had to try and clean it with a baby wipe but one of the straps is a lovely shade of yellow. I've also noticed a slight blister behind her knee from the harness and her being hot. Haven't a clue what i can do to stop it rubbing but we have another scan and consultants appt on wed so hopefully they'll adjust it so it doesn't rub.
I'm still finding everything a bit daunting with 2. Earlier both of them were whinging and i just sat with my fingers in my ears for a couple of mins as i just wanted it to stop. My stoopid dh just stood there watching then asked me later "why?". i love them all so much i just feel overwhelmed that i'm 25 and a wife and mother to 2. I don't think the pnd is back, i'm just struggling to adjust. I thought i would find it easier than i have to have another in the house. I'm also finding myself feeling guilty that i'm not spending enough time with ds and guilty that i can't give f my undivided attention that i gave her brother when he was born. Sorry for being so self involved. I hope you all have peacefull night

debka · 12/04/2011 06:21

hubbard I have days like that too, when it's just all too much. I have secret fantasies of when I was single and childless and could do what I wanted.

I don't think newborns care if they get the attention, hubbard. I honestly don't. So long as they're fed and warm and have somewhere to sleep they will be fine. Now I just bung S in the cot DD1 is happier as I can spend S's sleeping time with her. Plus I find it hard when we have busy days, by that I mean when we go out of the house to Sainsburys- everyone's more settled when the days are quieter. But that might just be me and my girls.

Could you just put a plaster behind her knee where it rubs?

delia good to hear from you :) With DD1 time went so slooooowly too because I seemed to worry about everything and was so involved with her. But it does pass in the end and they start getting more interesting and predictable.

Had a grotty night last night, S did her usual 7.45- 5.45 routine which is GREAT but I do wish she'd go back to sleep in the morning. Ah well, won't last forever. But I couldn't get off to sleep and then woke in the night and couldn't sleep either. Had a headache too :(

Hope everyone else is well today.

wigglesrock · 12/04/2011 07:52

Hubbard and Debka my cousin just "nipped" to Berlin for the weekend, I dropped her to the airport and could have wept with jealousy, I have little daydreams when I imagine being single, childless, rich and looking like somebody who has time to wash their hair!!. Hubbard - my Mum had both her children by the time she was 25 and we were both up and able to look after ourselves by the time she was 40 - by the time I'm 40 Anna will just be starting primary school Shock

I remember when dd1 was born, I used to spend so much time with her and when dd2 came along I just didn't have the time, she's fine, infact she's a really lovely, caring little girl.. If its any reassurance I found the jump from 1 to 2, much harder than this jump to 3.

Hope we all have a good day, will let you know how Annas jabs went Sad

Bensmum76 · 12/04/2011 07:59

Morning all. Well first night of doing it all on my own as dh away all week, but mum here. Noah woke at 12.30am and 5.30am for feeds, not too bad I suppose. We were so spoilt with Ben as he went through the night from 5 weeks that anything Noah does at night will seem crap! Am tempted to do dream feed at 11 tonight to see if it makes any difference. My mum has offered to do one of the night feeds but I feel a bit mean if i let her!
Noah is doing well for naps in his cot, managed two long naps yesterday. I have to put him on his side and hold his hand near his mouth for him to suck then he drifts off, sometimes cries for a bit.
I too am having regular fantasies of a life without children or even just with Ben. I'd be going to work now to spend the day with adults and no worries about feeds or naps! Seems like bliss!

Grannyapple · 12/04/2011 08:49

Morning ladies...looking for hints/tips as to how I can get Nate to attempt to go thru the night...he still wakes @2,5 then 7. Have tried giving him more in the day, changing his tears ...& even resorted to a bit if hungrier milk last night...

I know he's only 6.5 weeks but can't see an end to this at present.zi have also heard a viscous rumour that boys take longer to go thru the night than girls....

Hope it's a lovely day again today...off to baby massage in the hope it will also help to get Nate go thru the night.

ILovePonyo · 12/04/2011 08:53

Hi delia, dd was 8 weeks on monday and I don't think its gone fast either. It feels like we've always had her (in a nice way), I remember a few weeks ago I was worrying I was wishing her life away because I just wanted her to be older! I feel like that less now though. I do like the term "glacially slowly" Grin

Shock and Hmm at people being rude on other threads, I read yours deb and thought some comments were a bit harsh.

Stupid computer is being slow so will post back later.

slowangels1 · 12/04/2011 09:40

also Shock at comment on debs other thread - these mners can be quite rude Hmm

lots of talk of sleep. I'm wondering when the average age is when they sleep through the night. Would be nice to have a date in sight in hope this might happen (knowing she may be way off this date, but at least having something to hope for). Anyone know?

Off hopefully to a new mums meeting today. Nothing to wear and my hair looks like I've never used a brush Confused . I'm secretly hoping all the other mums will looks just as bad but will probably meet a room of polished made up ladies [anger]

good to hear from you d

will be interested to hear how all these jabs go. We've got our booked for 2 weeks time and I already have purchased baby calpol to be at the ready. Infact, my efficiency knew no bounds and I also now have baby bonjella in the cupboard just incase for when she starts teething Grin

I am finding I am soooo thirsty all the time which I assume is down to the bfing - anyone else get this?

OP posts:
janedoe25 · 12/04/2011 09:42

Hi Ladies, glad to hear you are all getting more sleep!
I have a quick question, Who does the 6 week post natal check doctor or midwife? I am supposed to get mine along with Post mortem results with the consultant at hospital. They said it would take 6-8 weeks for the results to come through, however Zoe would have been 6 weeks old yesterday i still haven't heard anything.
warning TMI alert! I have a feeling in my bits like a tampon has not been put in properly, is that normal after birth??
Hope you all have a FAB day.

slowangels1 · 12/04/2011 09:47

jane I had that feeling when I was pg Confused . Haven't felt it recently though. Maybe someone else here will know. Could it be body getting ready for periods again?? . My appointments are with a nurse and doctor so that doesn't really help you does it Hmm (still 2 weeks away). I think the nurse bit is for alices jabs though. Can you ring up surgery and ask re: post mortem results and if they're in? Would be a shame to make an appointment and they're not back yet (but then, if your surgery is like mine they might have it sitting around waiting for weeks waiting for you to chase them up). Will you let us know what the results are if you can? I hope you're managing OK over there. How are the wedding plans going?

OP posts:
janedoe25 · 12/04/2011 10:05

angels I was told i would get an appointment through the post. Not looking forward to it, i have to go back to the hospital for it. I will let you all know the outcome. However we have been forewarned that they will probably come back inconclusive.

I am doing ok, having more and more good days and im going back to work on Monday- need to pay for a wedding!
Plans are going ok, we have venue booked and have the same civil celebrant who conducted Zoe's funeral she is a gem of a lady!
We need to sort out outfits, photgrapher, invites, flowers and favours! DF is showing himself as a Groom-zilla!

debka · 12/04/2011 13:15

jane I think about you a lot, and it's good hearing you sounding more cheerful. How exciting planning a wedding. Having said that, I found the whole affair rather stressful and DH's nightmare family didn't help! LOL at DF being groom zilla (BTW what does the F stand for? am a bit thick...!)

angels I would be starting to expect them to sleep through 10-12 hours by 6 months. However lots of babies do it before, and lots do it after. Some need more encouragement than others! (but don't mention letting them CRY God forbid!!!)

grannyapple all I do is make sure they feed at least every 3 hours during the day, and stay awake for a while after each feed. Then at night make sure feeds are as dark and dull as possible. Not much else you can do I think! Am bfing so don't know about bottles, sorry!

wigglesrock · 12/04/2011 13:18

janedoe I had my 6 week check last week, Dr did it but no exam or anything, just a chat. Follow up with hospital if you need to, ah glad we got married before the term groomzilla was coined - have a terrible feeling Mr W would have been the king of groomzillas Grin

Angels Dd1 slept right through the night 6.30pm - 6.30am from 9 weeks - have absolutely no idea how, why, was never able to replicate it with dd2. Although could never get her to sleep any later in the morning, sometimes at a push if she's had a really busy day she'll sleep until 7.30ish but never at weekends or school holidays Wink

Well Anna had her jabs, here the Dr does a check-up and they administer the first set - he thoroughly checked her eyes (which she loved), her chest, hips and bum. All great, when we put her on the couch, he actually exclaimed "that's the longest baby I've ever seen" Hmm. Told me not to worry about the slower weight gain, didn't weigh her, but was really pleased with her alertness. She of course gooed and gaaed the whole time, that's right Anna babe, go for the Drs nice and early!!. An injection in each thigh, few tears and right as rain. Did give her some Calpol when we got home, was a bit hot, but think she spat most of it out. Currently huffing in the corner.

Lol at angels and the Bonjela, although I swore by Dentinox, dd2 didn't have any teeth until she was a year, dd1 got two at 6 months. Hope you and Alice met some nice new Mums.

janedoe25 · 12/04/2011 15:24

Debka DF= dear fiance.
wiggles glad Anna was ok with her injections, hope she has no reactions to them.

Erm, can i ask if anyone has done the deed yet? I am thinking about it but bloody scared about it hurting! Blush

debka · 12/04/2011 16:19

Thanks jane!

Deed not Done- DH too unappealing and me too knackered.

Bensmum76 · 12/04/2011 16:32

Haha, Debka! Me too!

ILovePonyo · 12/04/2011 17:05

Ahh wiggles glad everything went ok at Docs, I am going to get some calpol in anticipation but hopefully it will go as smoothly as your did! I did Grin at Anna going for docs nice and early :)

Hi jane, good luck for work on monday (let us know how you get on?), and good luck with the groomzilla Grin he probably wants it to be completely perfect for you both, if I were you I'd let him take on the wedding stress and you can just turn up on the day looking fantastic! Dp and I have done the deed once, tbh it didn't hurt but we used some lube just in case Wink Tho I had a little bleed which I think must have been my tear Shock I hadn't had stitches in it so reckon thats what it was.

grannyapple the only thing I can think of is swaddling if you don't already, and like debka said do night feeds in the dark, nice and quiet. Also I used to get straight up as soon as dd started to make a noise and go and get a bottle ready, in a zombie like state. Then one night she started making a noise (about 2am say), I woke up but fell back asleep and the next thing I knew it was about 5am and she'd managed to go back to sleep. Maybe if your ds isn't crying you could try that? Good luck!

wigglesrock · 12/04/2011 17:07

Deed not done, would quite like to, but Mr W has been on nights last week and this week and I'm afraid my days of quickie on the sofa, before work, type sex are behind me. Need the bed so I can fall asleep quickly Grin

ILovePonyo · 12/04/2011 20:09

Ok am feeling abit worried - dd hardly drank anything today, has not pooed and is asleep and shows no sign of waking up!?! Getting abit worried that will mean she'll be hungry all night, poo and need changing (and unswaddling) and not be tired Confused

Am posting it here in the hope she proves me wrong Grin

Bensmum76 · 12/04/2011 20:11

Good luck for Monday Jane, keep us updated.
Had nap nightmare with Noah today, only managed short spells in his basket. I was in tears, lucky my mums here and took him off me to cuddle him and got him to sleep for half hour. Poor thing struggled through his feed at 7.30 and has just gone to sleep in his basket.
He was weighed today, is now 12lb, 9oz, what a little fattie!!
Grannypple, I have also ignored Noah starting to make noise in the night and hes gone back for a few hours, sometimes works, sometimes doesn't.
Wishing you all peaceful, sleep filled nights!

debka · 12/04/2011 20:37

Aw bensmum, that sucks, I understand the tears too, it's so worrying when they won't sleep. Hope he gives you a good night. Get your head down early! I'm about to go now and read for a bit.

ponyo babies are weird. She may still sleep well.

ILovePonyo · 13/04/2011 09:19

deb you pretty much summed it up in that small statement - babies are wierd, so true! She slept through til 7am Grin woke up and made a few squeaks a couple of times but I ignored her Grin and she must have gone back to sleep. What a little superstar eh. How weird that one day she can drink loads, then yesterday hardly anything.

Jabs today so hoping it goes well. Calpol at the ready.
