Took it upon myself to start a new thread. Everyone's popping right now!

PS: Sorry for the awful rhyme, it was all I could think of Blush

knitternottwitter I was so happy to see your news - I must admit to lurking a bit over the months on the ttc threads to see if you had any news and it made my day to see you're pg again - I really hope this one sticks Grin

knitta (I think) who said about mws giving baby formula if you don't produce enough milk - my community mw came yesterday and was Shock the hospital mw/nurse did this to me, apaprently it's not good practice and not even true that I wasn't making enough. We were at the end of our tether yesterday as baby angels not interested in bfing at all - only bottle. Luckily mw visit gave us some tips and help and fingers crossed we are back on track. Milk started coming in yesterday too - ouch!

ledkr you know me - I have to win some kind of award Wink. Since the prize of biggest baby had gone to debka and you'd stolen the 'most tsunami style fluid' what else was I to do?! Tbh I think the faild induction only took 5 whole days as they were so busy I got left an awful lot of the time. I think that's whhy it might not have worked - they left too long between pessaries as they were too busy to give me any more. I did get out just undr 48hrs post csec though - was desperate to go home sooooooo much.

needto how are you getting along with DH back at work? I will message you when I get a chance (doesn't mean I'm not thinking of you though).

wigglesrock · 01/03/2011 10:53

americanexpat In the bottle/ breastfeeding topic, there is a thread called - new guidelines for making up formula..., there is a link in first post to the leaflet, sorry can't seem to link directly, tbh not sure I'm doing it right but I'm blaming a technical problem Grin

Well Mr Wiggles went back to work last night and we all got through the night okay. Anna was up twice for feeds and I am more pleased with myself for getting the school run out of the way with the three of them.

Also my increased child benefit came through yesterday, not sure how I'll spend that extra £13 a week but better than nothing Smile Also not sure if it'll help anyone else but I happened to be nosying around my private healthcare policy, to be fair its a £12 a month policy I took out a few years ago to help with dental bills, anyway the policy pays out a sum for childbirth, spoke to the advisor and looks like I'll qualify for some money, that'll buy a few lemonades in Ibiza this summer Wink

knittakid · 01/03/2011 10:59

Morning all, glad babies are starting to settle better, off lights and starting to feed better; well done angels, really, what a marathon!

I think am the last one still with no baby, as I assume janedoe has not been in a while due to being very busy with newborn. I had regular contractions last night for the first time, they lasted just a couple of hours though and now am back to normal Sad with just the period pain, am really getting fed up but know it's not even so late yet... bad news is that he's moved from left to right and appart from it being not the optimal position his hand pokes at my side really painfully, the little bastard!

Bensmum76 · 01/03/2011 11:12

Hi all
Ponyo, we keep the flak for about 12 hours, and sterilise it once a day. My life now revolves around washing and sterilising equipment!
To all those who have tried breast feeding, I think your amazing. My sisters little girl was born two days after Noah and she tried breastfeeding but couldn't manage it and was dreading telling her midwife. No one should feel bad for not managing or choosing not to breast feed. I never breastfed Ben and he seems to have turned into quite a healthy clever boy so far!
Off to pil in a bit o introduce Noah to dh grandma, will get more unwanted advice no doubt. I really try hard o ignore them all but sometimes it does drag you down!
How are you getting on with dh back at work Need to. Mine goes back next week and I am dreading it, although I got the boys up on my own this morning and got Ben ready for nursery while dh slept so think I will manage!

slowangels1 · 01/03/2011 11:42

right, have tried to be all technical and add a piccie of baby to m y profile - hopefully is now up and running :)

wigglesrock · 01/03/2011 12:02

Angels Beautiful picture and even more beautiful little girl, congratulations again. I have put a more recent picture of Anna up on my profile.. I hope.

Anna is 2 weeks today, can't believe how quickly time is going Shock. She has slept all morning, despite dd2 best efforts, I mistakenly bought dd1 and dd2, plastic rabbits/chicks that make noise and horror of all horrors poo sweeties out of their bottom!! Blame Matalan who by the way have the best sale on little girls dresses at the minute (from about 3 upwards) Dd2 is also running around making up her own songs to the tune of Jingle Bells Confused I feel like I'm listening to a mash up of Bing Crosby and Katy Perry, ah well playgroup in 30 mins Grin

knittakid · 01/03/2011 12:15

gorgeous pic angels!

ILovePonyo · 01/03/2011 13:06

Hi all, what a gorgeous pic angels :)

american I am going to try a link but if it doesn't work its on the bf/ff board like wiggles said - link

The thread is quite interesting reading anyway tbh.

Right I'm going to go and try and put a pic of dd on my profile (and write some stuff on my profile!) seeing as you all have beautiful baby pics, I feel left out!

ILovePonyo · 01/03/2011 13:46

Picture up on profile!

Grannyapple · 01/03/2011 14:33

Hi ladies...I have flat nipples & a baby with Tongue tie....the odds r against me & Nate managing to bf but still trying & topping up formula with whatever I express...this was suggested by my mw.

The 1st night home...we spent 2.5 hrs trying to get Nate to latch on during the night. We were discharged that day from hospital & me's did try to assist with the latching on issue...we managed one feed before we left...wasn't til I got home that I noticed my notes said 'feeding well', which wasn't the case (& since had a nappy with urates in it)..evident that baby wasn't getting enough.

Anyway the next morning mw visited & I told what happened & that I had given him formula....she agreed with me it was the best thing to do as I was not going to let baby starve! Sis in law is also a mw & totally agreed with me....last thing anyone needs is to be back in hospital (as a few of u have had the horrible unfortunate experience of,albeit for different reasons) when giving baby a bottle would in part solve the problem.

I am totally for bf but think sometimes we just need to be practical ....some mw's in particular, I think, could do more thinking along those lines & what's best for baby is a contented, not stressed out mummy!

Ladies...if unsuccessful at bf,pls don't beat yourself up about it x.

ledkr · 01/03/2011 14:53

Aww angels she is lovely ella had that hair when born,Delilah has less and its suspiciously red Confused
Weighed today and is 7.11 how funny that at 4 wks she weighs less than some of them being born.
Wiggles DH has just been informed that his shifts are changing and they will be working 2day shifts then 2x 2-10 then 2x 4-12 Angry i am fuming, how the hell can i go back to work? And i will now be taking on 80% of childcare.Imagine if i had changed my hrs to that?
You mentioned Anna cluster feeding,D seems to be feeding all the time, will take 90mls then fall asleep for 10 mins then wake up and kick off for more, she does sleep for 2 long periods a day tho,one at night. Is that how Anna is?
first day without dh,we all got to school EARLY i was chuffed, there was a strange wailing noise coming from my pram on the way home tho.

ledkr · 01/03/2011 14:56

ponyo so pretty, dont we make pretty babies on this thread.

PinkElephant73 · 01/03/2011 15:13

Angels congratulations, bet you are relieved to finally be home!

lots of very un MN hugs to GrannyApple, Hubbard, and everyone else having a hard time with feeding, jaundice, lack of sleep etc.

we have been having an up and down time here, the latest is that I have been having episodes of bleeding every 2-3 days although my loss initially stopped after a week. the CMW said its probably just because I have been doing too much and need to rest more. however I had another bleed yesterday after 3 days of staying in the house on virtual bed rest so am going to GP tomorrow.

ledkr · 01/03/2011 16:55

pink,i have had that too, even yesterday and im 4 wks pn.
Fed up with it now.Have you had period pains too?

JustOneMorePlease · 01/03/2011 18:00

Congrats to angels she is beautiful. Can't wait to see what you name her.

Survived the school run for two days! Managed to take dd to singing yesterday and playgroup today with A. He got lots of cuddles from my friends.

Need to think of a new name for mumsnet now. Was thinking 'lansinoh is my best friend', 'he's off for the snip', 'sleeps for wimps' or such like.

Am also having big gushes of bleeding occasionally. Night sweats are still horrific.

wriggles all your girls are so cute, so nice to know someone else is seriously outnumbered. Even though dd (16 months) is more high maintenance than her three brothers put together including the baby. She is a whirlwind leaving distruction behind her every where she goes.

wigglesrock · 01/03/2011 18:14

Ledkr they sound suspiciously like Mr Wiggles shift patterns although he has 10pm-7am shifts as well, there are periods of the week where we are like ships that pass in the night, especially if he is kept late or doing overtime Sad It sounds like Anna is feeding very like D she has a really big mid morning sleep and a long evening stretch. I also had very bad period pains for a while today, was going to mention it on here but glad to know I'm not the only one Smile

JustOneMorePlease I remember 16 months with dds, it was actually the age I found most difficult!!

Am trying to fortify myself for tomorrow, am looking at dresses for bridezillas wedding - 4 long, stressful weeks to go!!

americanexpat · 01/03/2011 18:47

angels - Congrats on your baby girl and Shock at 5 days. I was hoping you'd have an easy birth after the difficult pregnancy. I think you've earned a quiet well-behaved baby!

KnitterNotTwitter - I admit to occasionally stalking you on the Conception threads too. I'm so happy to hear you're pregnant again and fingers crossed for you.

I've been having chills during the night instead of sweats. I thought I was seriously ill the first time it happened because I couldn't stop shivering for 5 minutes.

ILovePonyo · 01/03/2011 19:26

Thanks ledkr :)

grannyapple I completely agree with you, interestingly when I left hospital my notes also said 'bf well' - not true at all! I wasn't confident feeding, dd wasn't feeding well and tbh didn't get enough support from nurses - they'd come in, shove her onto boob, then say they'd come back in 10 mins. They never did Hmm

I was made to feel guilty when I said I was thinking about ff - now I'm so glad I am, much less stress (and i am a stress head believe me!)

I don't know if the hospital maybe have some sort of targets to reach re:bf, hence the "bf well" comments on notes? Seems odd to me.

Rant over!

ledkr · 01/03/2011 21:40

wiggles do you also find Anna difficult when awake and not feeding,Delilah doesnt seem to last 5 mins in a bouncy chair or her swing even when held she is wriggling around and has to keep changing position-i call her the ginger winger Grin never had a baby like it.She does sleep 9-4 tho then back to sleep till the morn so cant really complain.
Re shifts,i wouldnt mind the nights cos at least he is here to help with tea and bedtime plus all the activities dd1 does but 4 nights he wont be and i feel a bit stitched up tbh. Will be hard enough at the mo but impossible when im back at work and i do bring in a good wage,i told him he will have to look for a transfer to new dept.
In bed now awaiting shameless,i have managed to have a baby during this series and not miss a single episode Wink

janedoe25 · 01/03/2011 21:47

Congratulations on the new arrival Angels

My baby girl Zoe entered and left the world on the 28th feb, she was perfect in every way. Words can describe how devestated myself and fiance are.

We went to hospital on sat evening as i hadnt felt the baby move all day, after some monitoring it was found she had passed away. My labour was induced on the sat night and i gave birth to Zoe weighing 7 lbs 3oz on the Monday morning at 4.50 .

Hope you all understand that i wont post much any longer, but im still thinking of you all and wish you and your beautiful babies well.
Thank you for the support, this thread has been a godsend throughout pregnancy and i am grateful to have met you all.

ledkr · 01/03/2011 21:47

ponyo i feel strongly about that aggressive bf promotion, when i had dd1 i watched this poor woman trying for days, the baby screamed night and day and nobody could sleep,he became really jaundiced and they refused to get her a bottle to try,she had absolutely no supply whatsoever but they kept telling her to put him on,her nipples were cracked and bleeding it was so distressing, she eventually gave him a bottle about 3 days old.I kept in touch with her and she often says how it ruined her early days with her ds Sad

ledkr · 01/03/2011 21:53

janedoe i dont know if you will read any more posts but i cannot find the words to say to express how awfull i feel for you both,i wont even try apart from to say my mum had my still born brother at term 30 yrs ago and we have never forgotten him,my Mum remains sad to this day and went on to have my 2 sisters perfectly well. When you are ready you will find lots of amazing ladies on mn who have been through it as well you may get some support from them.Goodnight and god bless little Zoe xxxxxx

EauRouge · 01/03/2011 21:54

janedoe, I'm so very sorry to hear that. Please take good care of yourself xx

wigglesrock · 01/03/2011 21:58

ledkr Anna has to really be in the mood to sit in her chair when awake, but she loves lying on the changing mat and having a good nosy around, especially if you turn lights on and off Grin I wasn't able to go back to work full-time after Mr Wiggles joined up, he only changed careers three years ago, six weeks before dd2 was born, that was a fun time with the four week residential course Hmm. But you have time to try and come up with alternatives.

I never watched Shameless until I had the amazing non-sleeping child aka dd2, I watched all of the series on catch-up and dvd on the nights she wouldn't sleep, but haven't watched it in ages.

ILovePonyo · 01/03/2011 22:24

janedoe I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Am thinking of you xx
