that does indeed suck, Muse.

Muser · 12/02/2011 12:19

There are some benefits to being in ThatLondon though. Managed to get a plumber out within 45 minutes and we are fixed. Hooray!

Scorpette · 12/02/2011 12:40

Yay! I was getting worried about your new carpets!

I hope Ginster's and her Little Pastie are both doing well today :)

Thanks for that info about the independent MW, Boxy, was v interesting. I didn't know that sort of service was available. We've been discussing classes or an indie - TYF is now really up for the idea of classes or big chats with a professional about it all, as he recognises that the more prepared we both are, the more proactive and in control we can be/feel (theoretically!). Also, a new bloke started at his work a few months back who does the same role as him and they've been getting on well and he has a 4 yr old boy and has been giving him some pre-fatherhood advice, mainly 'don't patronise her when she's in a hormonal rant' and bigging up NCT classes and the such-like, so that's great. He's also offered us their old pram and cot, which he says were pretty expensive (PFB buying madness), but being men, neither of them discussed the make, model, colour, nuffink. Oh, and this guy then said he'd have to ask his wife if she was okay with them being given away Hmm MENZ!

Actually, TYF proved last night that he'd be pretty good when I will be suffering in labour; my headache did turn into a migraine and I can honestly say it was some of the worst pain I have ever experienced. I was slipping in and out of consciousness and today feel like I've suffered brain damage or summat (mind is really blank and fuzzy), it was that bad. He said he came home and I was slumped oddly on the sofa, my right hand jerking about uncontrollably, whilst I muttered gibberish to myself, my pupils were unfocused and my eyes twitching and streaming with tears Shock Said it took me nearly 15 mins to recognise he was there. But he'd been pressing a cold cloth to my head, making me sip water (which had mainly gone down my top) and talking to me calmly to bring me round. It must've been a scary old sight but he dealt with it v well, so that's encouraging for me wigging out in labour, good for him.

Sorry for a bit of a mememe there.

HighPriestessBoo · 12/02/2011 15:10

We'll have to meet up sometime Lady, you mustn't contemplate me looking at your foof when we haven't even met yet :o

Mind you, most midwives are complete strangers before you meet them I guess!

HighPriestessBoo · 12/02/2011 15:12

Bloody hell Scorps Surely you can go back to your docs with that story? That is really not good.

Scorpette · 12/02/2011 15:49

I've been nearly that bad at least once a fortnight since week 12, Boo Sad It's about the 3rd time this year alone I've been semi-conscious and incoherent with the severity. That's why they sent me to the consultant but there really is nothing more they can do for me; it doesn't affect or harm the baybee so it's a case of 'HTFU, bye-bye' from the medical profession. The worst thing for me is that they can't say if I'd be the same if I got pg again - I want more than 1 kid but couldn't face this all again and with a toddler to look after too.

I'm quite amazed at the level of pain I can now tolerate day-to-day and still get on with daily life, compared to pre-pg, and really hope this means it might be a silver lining when it comes to laying! I'll be all 'NNNNGHGHGH... oh, was that a baby?' Wink

rocketleaf · 12/02/2011 16:15

scoreit's amazing how calm you are about all this. I realise it's a question if necessity, you've just got to get on with it I suppose but it's well harsh that theres nothing they can do. I'm really glad TYF handled it so well last time, like you say it does body well for the birth and also you being able to handle labour pain. I can see why you would be reticent about going through all this again. But I don't think it's even worth contemplating right now. Just get thru this prgnancy!!

muse glad you got the bog fixed double quick. I WAS going to say 'that's a big pile if poo' but that London being the teeming metropolis of plumbers that it is ruined my (admittedly crap) joke. Oops there I go again! :o

Has ourclucks posted today?

Scorpette · 12/02/2011 16:37

Thanks, Rocket :) You are right, I need to just focus on this pg (I'm terrible for catastrophising about future possible what-ifs!). I'm not particularly calm when I'm feeling vv bad - tend to wail things like 'if I'm this ill when I go into labour, how will I cope? I'm so weak I might DIEEEEEEEEE!' and other melodramatic nonsense Blush

I've always had stoopid health my entire life - I get really random/obscure things wrong with me and things that don't affect others at all make me ill but then I have a really strong heart & liver, I recover quickly, there's no major problems run on either side of family, longevity in genes, etc., and I don't get usual stuff wrong with me that most others do (I've never had a hangover, for example, buahaha). Is like my genes have opted for keeping me immune and safe from anything serious whatsoever in return for loads more minor probs than usual!

Yes, Cluckers has been most silent of late - hope this bodes well Grin Cluster-lay! Cluster-lay!

PS Had a lovely moment earlier: The Lad hadn't kicked for a while and I had my hand on my bump and said out loud, 'Kick for Mummy ' and he DID, right where my hand was. So thoughtful, so advanced for his age! [PFB face]

rocketleaf · 12/02/2011 16:53

Haha obviously a precocious mummies boy already :). TB finally felt some kicks yesterday which was lovely as she's been a little tease the last few weeks. Booting me like mad and then stopping as soon as he put his hand on my belly. I've told him that it was because he was already a calming influence :o Hmm

Well my next stuff came and Im rather unexpectedly impressed! I am even keeping the 'jeggings' an item of clothing I have mocked since their conception Blush I must point out these are not denim look tho. The only disappointment was the tankini top which is the only thing I actually NEED, it fits perfectly but the plastic loop at the back is broken which is a PITA as I will have to exchange rather than just return. Ah well such is life! Thanks biteme!!

TwinkleToes76 · 12/02/2011 17:56

Just rushing in to say wooo hooo to gin, congrats congrats congrats!

Scan revealed we're having another GIRL!! Am very excited, and means we save money on not buying lots of new clothes!

I'm trying to entertain two over tired, manic 3 year olds and not doing a very good job at it! However am I going to manage two of my own?? Confused

CluckyKate · 12/02/2011 18:05

Don't be silly girls, I'm still here Grin

Seen the MW and all is well - head now 4/5 engaged (that's 4/5 in rather then out) and BP/HR/Wee all normal so still on for the homebirth. No mention of induction date and next MW appointment to happen on Friday, unless anything happens before then.

Headache situation sounds horrendous Scorps - knew it was bad but that sounds far worse than I imagined. Top marks for endurance there...only wish it were possible to fix it for you.

Hooray for shopping win Rockerbyebaby but Gah! for the tankini top - tres annoying.

Those little monkeys and their kicking....before you know it you'll have the stomach of a contortionist as the little blighters boogie on down in there, then the whole world will be able to see.

CluckyKate · 12/02/2011 18:08

Yippee for fabulous scan news Twinkerbelle. Two girlies - how lovely Smile

Medee · 12/02/2011 18:16

your MW sounds like they are relaxed, Kate, so that's great there's no pressure on you.

Hurrah for lovely scan news.

CluckyKate · 12/02/2011 18:40

MW has been around donkeys years (delivered 28 yr old daughter of a friend) and is very pro-homebirth Meds. Didn't get one for LC (she was MW for me then too) so she's determined we'll have one for this fella....I am very lucky.

rocketleaf · 12/02/2011 18:41

Aw great scan news twinks and also that you are on for HB still clucks how brilliant to have such a supportive MW and such continuity too. Nice to have someone you already know.

Scorpette · 12/02/2011 22:39

Awww, that's so nice of you, Kate, thank you At least when I give birth I get a 2-for-1 deal: hello gorgeous baybee, goodbye headaches! Am so happy for you that it's full steam ahead for the HB and you sound like you have really cool MW support around you, yay :)

Fab news on the scan, Twinks and well done for your double helping of pink Grin Another potential bride for The Lad to add to my list, eh?!

Boo to the shoddy tankini, Rocket, v annoying. At least you you know when you exchange it it will be fab. I want to get something similar to hopefully waterbirf in but my arms have turned into something that'd put Biffa Bacon's Mutha to shame (so awful I would still feel ashamed to flaunt 'em, even during the worst of childbirth. They can check out me flange all they like but no looking at my ham hock arms!). Why has pg turned the tops of all my limbs incredibly fat?! So, one of my Dad's old t-shirts it is, then!

Can't wait for more Gin updating. Thinking of you, gorgeous Wine

Muser · 12/02/2011 22:58

Am I weird for planning to be nekkid in the birth pool? I was very pleased when we did the birth centre tour that the midwives said "you can wear a bikini/tankini top in the pool, or even a tshirt, if you don't want to be nekkid". Made it sound as if they expected nekkid, so I feel less exhibitionist!

They did say if your male birth partner wants to get in the pool with you they MUST wear proper swimming trunks, or scrub trousers. Boxers are not acceptable, due to lack of containment. Grin

Scorpette · 12/02/2011 23:08

Aw, worra jip. TYF's tendency to dangle is one of my major sources of amusement Grin Can I force him to wear a Borat-style mankini, do you think? In fact, that should be compulsory for all male partners, water birth or not. Share the indignity!

Scorpette · 12/02/2011 23:12

PS No, you're not weird for wanting to go nekkid, but don't forget to supply me with plenty of pics Wink

MustMountMoreFairies · 13/02/2011 08:28

All this birthing talk is making me feel dizzy.

Do you think a baby can be harmed in the first trimester by persistent insomnia / lack of sleep?

LadyGoneGaga · 13/02/2011 08:42

Justa quick one from MiL's house.
Score sorry your migraines are still in full force - you are a trooper for putting up with it but relly not too much longer now. On the clothes thing I would be very surprised if you give a shit about the width of your arms when in labour - I expect to see some nekkid Score pics on t'other place shortly!

Muse you are not weird. I was in pool nekkid last time too.

Boo would be lovely to meet up - and not just to look at my foof!

Mountme baby won't care. It will be snoozing away - just you that feels like shite.

Going to see friends ikkle baby today - vey excited.

OP posts:
rocketleaf · 13/02/2011 09:18

Muse you are not weird. I can very well imagine not wanting to be constricted by anything while labouring in pool or out if it. Although I might wear the tankini for pool birth it is more for actual swimming in. Not sure my local sports centre would be too impressed with me going nekkid there Wink

I agree with lady score I dont think you'll give two hoots about your arms, and neither will anyone else! Especially not the people who matter, TYF and the Lad (and us )

mountfuji as lady said, little one is oblivious to the trouble hr or she is causing and growing happily away while you suffer. Hope you can get some kip soon, things should get better after 12 weeks but in the mean time perfect the afternoon/after work nap.

CluckyKate · 13/02/2011 10:00

Perfectly normal Muse - was planning the same thing myself as want to go straight to skin-to-skin and not have to wrestle out of tankini-top before I can cuddle my baby (when the blighter gets here [grr])

Still nothing happenning here....am going for the ESH-record for longest ever pregnancy Grin

PollyPoo · 13/02/2011 10:37

Just checking in for laying news... come on BabyChick, get a move on!

I think for both labours I had on one of TG's tshirts (beastie boys if I remember correctly!) but they both got whipped off and flung across the room. I couldn't cope with any thing on my skin and I didn't care who saw!

Muser · 13/02/2011 11:04

C'mon Cluckster, get laying. I don't fancy queue jumping but I do want to have this baby already!
