Role of Doula in elective c-section

I have some spinal and orthopedic problems, and the docs tell me that most likely I will undergo a C-section. My due date is mid March. My husband and I are presently residing in an European country, and we have no other family here. I am wondering if it would be useful to hire a doula even if I have a C-section? What sort of help she might provide?

Maybe mail a couple of doulas and see what they say. AFAIK they can help post birth too

Are doulas permitted where you are in hospitals?

Or are you think more as a postnatal doula for help when you get home? Can you say which country you're in as the role if a doula varies from place to place.
