A new thread for all us friendly Dec ladies

We sit and we type,
And we stare at our screens;
We all have to wonder
What this possibly means.
With our mouse we roam,
Through the rooms in a maze;
Looking for something or someone,
As we sit in a daze.
We chat with each other;
We type all our woes;
Small groups we do form,
And gang up on our foes.
We wait for somebody
To type out our name;
We want recognition,
But it is always the same.
We give kisses and hugs,
And sometimes flirt;
In PMs (IMs) we chat deeply,
And reveal why we hurt.
We do form friendships -
Yet why, we don't know;
But some of these friendships
Will flourish and grow.
Why is it on screen,
We can be so bold?
Telling our secrets
That have never been told.
Why is it we share
The thoughts in our mind
With those we can't see,
As though we were blind?
The answer is simple;
It's as clear as a bell.
We all have our problems
And need someone to tell.
We can't tell real people,
But tell someone we must;
So we turn to the computer,
And to those we can trust.
Even though it is crazy,
The truth still remains:
There are Friends Without Faces,
With odd little names.

dramaqueen, have you ever took rasberry leaf or considered using it? a friend of mine recommended it but ive got doubts cos im so quick, it could come out faster than a speeding bullet!
anyone else ever used it?

sweetheart · 11/10/2005 20:23

A friend of mine tried the raspberry tea method and it didn't help - she was still nearly 2 weeks late! I'm not sure any of these things work - I think it's usually down to coincidence and babies will come whenever they are ready.

Can somone remind me I posted that when I'm 10 days over and trying lots of sex, curries and bumpy car rides to get this baby out

bubble, my friend tried rasberry leaf tea and had her baby later that day
anywho how is everyone??

dramaqueen72 · 12/10/2005 00:30

bubble, raspberry leaf tea, is good for toning the uterus and helping things 'give' and not tear. it causes mild contractions -not even felt in some people- to tone up things. so it isnt meant to make any babies arrive quicker, but easier. you cant take it before 36wks. HTH.
and your right s/h, babies are due at 40wks+, however much you want them sooner because yore fed up by 36wks.. (and i know i will be!) but they cant-wont!- be hurried by anything other than medical drugs really. gravity helps alot tho, hence always being told to go for a walk to speed things up etc.

ebbie22 · 12/10/2005 08:37

I had the raspberrry and cranberry drink from whittrd,i love the stuff,and dd was early...But i think she came when she was gd and ready,though neddless to say willbe drinking it again this time....got ago to midwifes soon,hope all is well xxx

sweetheart · 12/10/2005 09:16

morning all - DQ, thats very interesting info. Perhaps I'll start on the raspberyy stuff if it's going to aid the "no stitches" situation!!! So, What other old wives tales can we think of - I know there are lots but I don't really know what the theory is behind most of them. The ones I have are:-

sex - makes the uterus contract
tweeking nipples - now wtf is that about?
eating pineapple - ??????
eating curry - ?????
bumpy car rides - ??????
long walks - obviously a gravity thing
Arnica - not to bring on labour but for the swelling and bruising afterwards (btw ladies, this stuff is FAB!!!!)

Any others? I think I'll be ready to start trying these in about....ummmmmmm 2 days

ninah · 12/10/2005 09:22

tweaking nipples is in a book I read once,you're supposed to do it/have it done for something like 12 hours! could liven up the revision I guess ...

ninah · 12/10/2005 09:24

Have to admit I was 2 weeks late with ds and tried most of the above but drew the line at a pint of castor oil which apparently is hugely effective ... believe olive oil and orange juice also works wonders .. bleugh

sweetheart · 12/10/2005 09:24

12 hours of nipple tweaking

Well, thats one way to get cracked, sore nipples I suppose!!!!!
