Hi,

I'm new at this but I was wondering if anyone could suggest or recommend some activities to do before my baby arrives (end of Feb). I run a business from home, which takes most of my time. But I want to do something before the baby arrives and after so that I can meet more mums.

I'm 28 and I am currently doing pilates in Dulwich. However, since my other classmate finished her classes, I'm the only one there. So please, if anyone knows any activity that can be helpful - it doesn't necessarily have to be physical - I would appreciate it.

Thanks!

Hello, NCT ante natal classes? It was great for finding others with babies the same age - usually 6 in the class, so even though we didn't have much in common, we stayed in touch for a couple of years. Yoga is sometimes available antenatally. Also, our Health Visitor used to run a "bumps and tums" group - which was usually a cup of tea and a talk on baby things.

With a newborn - there are some buggy keep fit type things, usually run in parks. Baby massage - again, small groups so nice to make friends.

It gets a bit easier when they are older and you can go to playgroups, music groups, swimming etc.

Best wishes for February.

Second NCT, I think there's quite an active group near you. There's a good pilates class in Greenwich if you could cope with travelling a bit? www.greenwichpilates.co.uk/

Definitely Nct - contact your local rep (look on Nct website sorry on phone so can't do links properly!) east dulwich is quite an active branch so there should be bumps night out, new mums teas etc

Thank you Muser and Lindsell!!!

They can be slow. It's all run by volunteers so they do it in their spare time. I imagine this week with some schools off, and some schools back, and general first week back craziness it could be a bit manic for them. Hopefully they'll be in touch soon.

It's worth having a look to see if they have a Yahoo group or a Facebook page. The Lewisham/Greenwich branches certainly do and they have all their activities listed.
