Wholelottalove · 09/12/2010 19:22

Congratulations to piterpatter Jasmine is a lovely name! It's so nice to log in and read the lovely birth announcements. :o

MrsS lovely birth story - thank you for sharing. Sounds like it all went really smoothly for you.

Max sorry you're not feeling great with your pelvis, but hooray for finishing work. Hope your DH is planning to do the running around after the children.

I am shattered today after long day with DD. My siblings keep asking me to babysit/pick children up from school etc and it is starting to piss me off a bit. Not trying to be all precious, but surely at just under 39 weeks I can be expected to be trying to get as much rest as possible? It's definitely different with a second pregnancy, everyone just expects you to crack on and stop moaning.

Am feeling grumpy because I have DD all day tomorrow and Saturday as DH working and I also said he can have lie in for once Sunday as it is his works do Sat night. I would be ok with it, but I am just so bloody sore and tired now and find it hard to run round after DD. We'd both go mad sat in front of the TV all day, but I think I might be overdoing it. Took her to toddler group and round to see a relative today and we did some painting and stuff too. My Mum said she is free tomorrow so might ask her to take DD out for an hour or so.

Hope mamathulu is ok and section went well.

Japhrimel if you're reading, hope all is well with you too.

So, I wonder who will be next? :)

ButtonAzure · 09/12/2010 19:53

Congratulations Mrs S! lovely birth story.. feel all warm and fuzzy inside :) and congratulations pitterpatter thats brilliant.

i'm defying late pregnancy and about to go out to a friends party in a bit! will probably be using up all my energy ration for tomorrow and probably saturday as well. Ah well, never mind Xmas Smile

GreenGeekGirl · 09/12/2010 21:12

I've just cooked an (accidentally) mega-hot pineapple thai red curry, so could be next! Xmas Wink

Mamathulu · 09/12/2010 21:38

Hello ladies - sorry for not posting earlier, but it's all been a bit manic here!
Many congratulations mrssl & pitterpatter - what an exciting time we've all had!
I'm posting from the hosp bed on my iPhone, so do forgive any misspellings!
Came in @ 7.30 am & although there was a slight delay while we waited for a replacement consultant surgeon to arrive, we walked into theatre just before 10.
The spinal was a bit hairy, as they bent the needle on the first attempt, & then put it in a bit too low down! I ended up getting some pain at the top of my tummy, but I declined a general twice and made them top me up with what I could only presume was morphine!
Despite this though, it all went well - they lowered the screen & at 10.32 a baby boy appeared! We've called him Reuben but can't quite decide on the spelling or middle names yet! He's also tiny compared to the other 3, weighing in at a titchy 5lb15oz! But beautifully formed & so far, beautifully behaved too! However must attend to the squeak monster now - love to all!

ReshapeWhileDamp · 09/12/2010 21:55

Well done MrsSL and Pitterpatter! Grin Am dead impressed by the speedy, efficient delivery of MrsSL. Am going to attempt to emulate. Wink

Love the names so far - Reuben is a great name and so is Hugh. And Jasmine. My favourite flowery smell. Smile

Bump is spending a lot of time being rock-hard but BHs aren't painful. I do have a sense that DS2 won't hang about til Boxing Day, but that might be wishful thinking. DH has job interview in Edinburgh next week and will be away for two nights, three days, so DS2 had better not come then!

DS and I attempted to make Christmas cards today. It wasn't a particularly rewarding experience. I wanted him to make thumb-print robins, a la Usborne craft book, and he, for some reason, objected to being used as a rubber stamp. Grin Left him happily painting his hand, arm and entire sheet of paper BLACK. The little goth. Grin

DuelingFanio · 09/12/2010 22:04

CONGRATULATIONS Mamathulu Grin lovely name.

reshape my bump is sometimes very hard too, but no other signs. Am getting to the point now where I keep thinking 'oh shit, I have to get this baby out and I have no idea when it is going to happen or what it is going to be like'. The nearer I get to my due date the more I worry that I am going to be taken by surprise Shock I am not used to having no control!

Talking of control, I have had a long talk with DH. He was upset by what I said about his mum on here so I have tried to explain that it's the whole baby/christmas/birthday/unknown thing that is scaring me and that I will try to be a little less anxious about things which might not happen. He has reassured me that we won't do anything I don't feel up to if I don't want to and that no one will over-stay their welcome.

phew.

laurenamium · 09/12/2010 22:20

Congratulations mama I'm so jealous of all these babies!

That's good df seems like you have come to a positive solution with DH Grin

frankenfanny · 09/12/2010 22:33

Wow the babies are coming thick fast now. Congratulations and welcome little Hugh, Jasmine and Reuben. Thanks for sharing the birth stories.

I want me to be next - I think I've earned an early baby just once! EDD is Sunday.

I have come up with a new baby name out of left field which I am hoping will be one we can agree on. There are so many lovely girl names but DH has rejected them all except one, which is a unisex/ boys name. I am not keen. I hope he likes one that is a bit unusual instead.

Dueling that is so great you and DH have finally had a heart to heart- IME even if you are usually the kind of person who copes marvellously, pregnancy/birth is the time to let it all out (er, can't think of better turn of phrase).Grin Hope you are feeling a lot less anxious now.

Roll on the rest of the "advent calendar".

DuelingFanio · 09/12/2010 22:40

frankenfanny oooh - the one name I want for a girl is too masculine for DH, thought it can be shortened and feminised by taking off the first letter. I really really really want it but he is strongly resisting.

frankenfanny · 09/12/2010 22:56

Dueling you would get on great with my DH, he loves literary/ unisex names. If the name is very short and masculine, people will usually nn it by lengthening and girlifying eg. Steve - Stevie-boo. Depends if both of you object to any potential nn's. Has your Dh got a list? My arguement is that my DH hasn't bothered to make the effort, just criticise mine, so I should get the reward :)

He thinks my unusual name is pg hormones gone mad, but it is in a book, and not too girlie, so it is not outright rejected...

DuelingFanio · 09/12/2010 23:11

he he. You have just guessed the name. It's Stevie. I love it. My dad's name was Steve (well it wasn't but that's a long story - his aunt's name was Steve - although it wasn't either but that's another long story!!) and he (dad) died in 2000 so I wanted Stevie as a kind of tribute, plus it's also part of my maiden name. DH really doesn't like it so I suggested shortening it to Evie but having Stevie on the birth Cert. I am fine with shoving it to a middle name but that leaves me having to find a name I like as much and there just isn't one.

DH came up with the name Isobel/Isobella but it's not for me. I was quite gobsmacked when he suggested it as I have no idea where it's come from. No offence to any other Isobel's but it just is a bit girlie for me.

I like names like Martha, Iris, Frannie but DH just doesn't. Love the name Edith/Edie but it's too similar to my Niece plus it's the name of my boss!

I am a big Bob Dylan fan so been trying to look for names inspired by his songs (Ramona, Isis) but DH doesn't like them either.

After all this it will probably be a boy anyway Grin

KittyBump · 09/12/2010 23:20

Ah, I think Stevie is great, I love Evie but it's really popular - not sure if that should matter or not.

Strangely Isabel is the only girl's name both me and DH like :) I really like Matilda but DH really doesn't.....

We both agree on boy's names though so at leas t that's something!

Congrats mamathula and pitter-patter, can't wait to join you :)

hope you get your way ff both with the name and baby on EDD, EDD is Sunday for me too, here's hoping

frankenfanny · 09/12/2010 23:23

He He! My pg hormones must be psychic. I was just talking to my daughter about the name Stevie for a girl today (just in general- not on my list- it is my brother's name). She said it is very cool, like a rock chick - she was spot on too even though she has never heard of Stevie Nicks.

Bobbie and Dylan can be girls names :)

You are right about sods law but have fun arguing the toss with girls names anyway :)

frankenfanny · 09/12/2010 23:30

Stevie Isabelle = nn Stevie-belle - you get Stevie past infancy -it is not too masculine and def cool for teen/adult.

Must get some sleep and try to psychic this baby to come out this weekend :)

DuelingFanio · 09/12/2010 23:32

Yeah, kittybump the fact that Evie and Martha are quite popular now does put me off a bit, which is why I want Stevie so badly Grin

I like the shortening of Isabel bte, just the full name is not for me. I really embarrassed myself by saying I didn't like it only to have one of my oldest schoolfriends tell me it was her daughter's middle name - I'd forgotten!

Frankenfanny We like Bob but only Bob in the short form, not Bobbie/bobby or Robert. I started a thread about it a while ago and mumsnetters hated it Grin it's on our list though. I do like Dylan but there are so many in Wales and one of my NCT pals has already named her unborn son Dylan .

Another name I like is Willa. The only thing is that there's a woman in work (Who I think is wonderful) called Willa and she may think it's a bit odd if I call my child after her as we're not close friends or anything like that. Plus DH isn't keen on it anyway.

So funny - I vowed not to discuss names on here and now look at me Grin

ButtonAzure · 10/12/2010 00:03

Congratulations Mamathula so happy the cs went ok! hope recovery is speedy and bright :)

Lots of lovely names floating around here! DH and i have a name sorted out for our girl; was agreed and dusted way back before 20 week scan even.. if it decides not to be a girl though (a small chance as sonographer wasn't entirely certain) will be stuck for a while.
My boy shortlist is very limited at the mo. I like really standard, boyish sounding names for little boys so won't be anything original or particularly rare.

ff and kitty am also due sunday -but would love to go right now!
