Health visitor was rubbish, said she wasn't a nurse and would ask and call me back but not to worry.
Chooster what did they do to fix it? I literally has two palm size liver looking clots, I was really worried last night but feel better today.

maxpower · 24/11/2010 15:09

lavita Angry about your HV unhelpful comments. You can either call the labour ward and see if they can advise, otherwise, try your GP?

currently have DD occupied cleaning the inside of the washing machine drawer Grin

CheeseandGherkins · 24/11/2010 15:30

lavita I'd get that checked out, doesn't sound too good and I think you still could have retained placenta even with a c-section. Definitely make sure you're not overdoing it as that can and does increase blood flow again, happened with me. I had lochia for weeks and weeks so that's normal. Hope you feel better soon.

chooster hope baby moves more soon, naughty baby. Let us know how you go.

WLL heartburn is awful here too, cannot stand it and makes me feel sick.

notso how are you getting on today?

I have felt so awful since yesterday, really sick and tired. Last night I suddenly came over all sick and ill, I had to lay down for a while. BP has been up and down but seems OK, midwife coming over tomorrow. I wonder if baby was moving or flipping which caused that.

Felt so restless yesterday and today and have no energy at all after the spurt of nesting? Dunno, I'm trying to perk myself up a bit though as I've been utterly miserable today and it must be annoying for people around me! So uncomfortable too and getting lots of BHs which are painful at times, definitely stronger than before too. Aches and pains and I'm moaning far too much lol. Cannot wait to meet my little girl now :o

Wholelottalove · 24/11/2010 15:51

Had midwife today, different one from normal and she thinks baby may be breech Shock Having scan on Friday to check position. I did say at last appointment could they check as had hard round lump under ribs and was told it was the bum. Today's midwife said there are basically two hard round lumps (apparently they can 'clench' their bum which made me smile) and she can't tell which is which. She also couldn't tell what limbs were what so wants us to check to be safe.

Trying not to panic but c-section has always been one of my worst fears so not feeling too good. I know I'll be stressing until Friday now. I will be 37 weeks by then so the odds of it turning will be pretty small I imagine. :(

DuelingFanio · 24/11/2010 18:18

I also had the midwife today, a home visit. She was lovely and said maybe she will be there the day I give birth - I really hope so.

Baby is head down and 2/5th engaged though I don't really have a clue what that means.

WLL do you have a scan booked to check the position Sad?

lavita I would definitely get it checked out with the GP or a midwife.

C&G hope you feel better soon.

Wave to Chooster and hi to everyone else. Hope all are well... the countdown begins.

ButtonAzure · 24/11/2010 19:14

DF theres a bit about engagement in green notes, page 12. 2/5 means engaged as most of the head is below the brim. So that is good :) 5/5 means head totally free and not engaged.

Nearly finished up with work, only a little bit of admin left to do from home, don't have to go in anymore at all :) will only go in on tues for fun: for lunch and goodbye to team :) :)
Also boss said today am allowed to keep laptop and iphone while i'm off which is fun.

MrsSnaplegs · 24/11/2010 20:16

I have finally finished work Grin

I think it is going to be really strange especially as both DH and I will be home together. Last time I was pregnant we were running the pub so even when I stopped real work I was helping out in the pub. This time we will both be home for next 4 months!

I am still having niggles, more backache (that was pretty much most of my labour pain last time) and some irregular strong period type pains which stop me doing anything just have to stand and breath through them. No show or waters going yet Wink

DH has said this one either needs to arrive before midnight tonight or after Monday morning as first ashes match starts tonight Grin DD held out and arrived the day after we won the ashes in 2005 - if she had been a boy she would have been named after the whole England cricket team Hmm

lavita I would definately ask to be checked, I can't really remember mine last time but clots that size sound quite large.
wll hopefully it's a bottom not a head and LO is in the right position
c&g definately know about feeling fed up of tiredness and niggles. Walked to pick DD up from school yesterday and it wiped me out completely and I could hardly move all night Hmm
maxp how old is your DD? mine has learnt to whistle and it is driving me up the wall Hmm I never realised quite how much she talks, hums, sings ALL THE TIME, constantly Hmm I feel a bit cruel sometimes saying "please be quiet just for 5 minutes!" Sad
chooster welcome back!I am jealous of your Xmas organisation - I need to wait for payday now as moving house was expense we could have done without just now!
owo glad to see you back, I hope you are ok and things are a bit more settled and comfortable

waves to everyone else I want snow but we are unlikely to get much this far south. DD has got the sledge Grandma bought her in October Confused and she now has nice new coat and salopettes with matching boots and gloves from Nanna at the weekend! I have no problems with getting to hospital as we have a landrover Grin

maxpower · 24/11/2010 20:49

congrats on starting mat leave button & WLL I can't quite compete yet, but I do have the day off tomorrow Smile

WLL DD is 4 - I came to terms long ago with the amount she talks Grin (everyone says she's a mini max Blush ) so I don't find asking for a bit of quiet now and again too guilt making any more. To be fair, she's pretty self aware for a 4yo and will offer up a wry smile at some points when she knows how demanding she's being. After showing herslef up at Tesco's this morning, she was actually much better behaved this afternoon. DH and I spent 20mins rugby tackling & tickling her repeatedly just before bed so hoepfully she's thoroughly worn out and will sleep until her alarm goes off.

CherylAnnTweedy · 24/11/2010 21:04

Hi all, I am now the flu sufferer of the household Sad. Great timing eh! SPoken to gp to see what I can take and was told only paracetamol, so looks like I'm going to have to hope this baby stays where it is until I'm over it.

Thank goodness my tonsils were taken out a few years ago otherwise I'd be joining DP & ds2 as well, I used to get tonsilitis monthly for 3 years, spent 2 years on the waiting list to have them removed and as I was still so far down the list the nhs paid for me to have the op done at the bupa hospital. Wow, that was nicer than some hotels I've stayed in! DP's been getting tonsilitis for about a year and a half now, although is now slowing down, so hopefully he won't need to have them out, but ds2, bless him, will definitely be needing them out in a few years. His are swollen all the time, so badly that they affect his speech - he adds h's randomly which the speech therapist thinks is because it's soothing for him, and more recently has become more nasal when he speaks, probably because it hurts less. Sad I know it's not my fault but I can't help feeling guilty and wondering if it's something hereditary and therefore my fault, even though I know it's not.

Lavita I passed quite a few big, very scary looking clots after having ds2. The bleeding stopped within a couple of days. I remember really feeling them come out and were the entire size of the pad I was wearing. Luckily my gp was round for a home visit the same day and she said it was quite normal for some ladies and as long as there weren't lots more it was fine. I've also read something since about this and it has something to do with the angle of the uterus in some people. Fingers crossed you won't pass any more.

WLL, fingers crossed for you that baby isn't breech.

Yay fro everyone finishing work, time to take it easy! If only eh! Grin

Off to bed in a mo once these paracetamol that I've just taken start to work (although I'm not holding out much hope).

SlightlyTired · 24/11/2010 21:38

cheryl sorry you're feeling so awful. Sounds like your household is in the wars at the moment.

Congrats to everyone starting their mat leave - I highly recommend it.

wll there's still time for baby to turn? I read that second/third babies sometimes don't turn till labour? Can see how it would suck going into labour without being sure that will happen, though.

Just got letter from doctor offering me flu jab. They're obviously sending them out to all the preggers people on their books. As due date is a week away, is there any point having it or will it make me feel ill just in time for labour? Anyone with any experience of side effects?

Chooster · 24/11/2010 21:40

Hello everyone!

Lavita - After prolonged bleeding I was scanned and told I had a 1cm size piece of retained placenta and advised that it should just pass... But a week later I haemorraged at home and lost 5 pints of blood. I went to theatre to have an emergency D&C to clear it all out, but it was massively scary. Leading up to this I had constant light bleeding and then passed big clots and the blood just gushed out fast after that for a bit. The clot was obviously acting like a dam so I got a huge gush when the clot dislodged. Definately worth pushing for an answer... Hope you are OK (am sure you are I think i was unlucky!).

MrsSnaplegs - Hopefully your LO will stay put til the cricket it over Smile. Good on DD for accomodating DH's viewing Smile.

Hi DF! - Hope all is well with you - LO seems in a good position... I saw your other thread on calling people when in labour. I'm very much in the same place as you - I'd rather no-one knew until the LO was here safely. We didn't tell anyone with DS1 but had to tell MIL with DS2 as she was looking after DS1. I tried to avoid telling my mum as she's a bit of a drama queen, but she found out from MIL and sure enough phoned the hospital on a regular basis when she couldn't get hold of DH on his mobile. She had a bit of a strop about being out the loop of what was going on and that was exactly what I wanted to avoid!! Hope your MIL stresses and strains disappear soon! Hopefully your SIL is mistaken about the visit.

Right, going to finish watchin the apprentice!! Much more movement from LO tonight Smile

MrsSnaplegs · 24/11/2010 22:31

slightly I would ring practice nurse and double check when they want you to have it. I had it last year and had no noticeable side effects. I will probably have it again this year as well - can do without flu and a new baby on top of my ME Grin

cherylanntweedy haven't forgotten the filing cabinet - we are trying to economise on petrol as money is a bit tight until payday - DH wants to make sure we have enough fuel to get to QA!! Probably a good thing - see paragraph above - don't really want to expose myself if you all have the lurgy Grin Hope you start to feel better soon - remember plenty of fluids, vitamin C, paracetomol and keep warm! Lots of ice / ice cream for the throat!

OnlyWantsOne · 25/11/2010 08:09

morning. Been up since 3 am feeling like shit.

im having cramps and period pains and feel sick... roll on 10am when DD goes to her friend's to play so I can go back to bed.

OnlyWantsOne · 25/11/2010 08:11

^ am a morning person as you can tell...

slightly I agree, phone practice nurse and maybe ask MW?

chooster thats exactly what i want to avoid as well, shant be phoning any one here!!!

CherylAnnTweedy · 25/11/2010 08:52

Morning, feel like crap! Head feels like it's been filled up with cement. Urgh! At least DP & DS2 seem to be coming out of it though and DS1 luckily has avoided it all. We've got to nip up to Asda, I never have home delivery as I'm very picky over my fruit, veg, meat & bread, but due to DP being ill and me not being able to drive we said sod it for one week, but due to them sending mouldy, split potatoes, stale bread, split bananas and meat that wasn't sealed properly we have to traipse up there today. Angry I'm going to be insisting that they refund the delivery fee too. I'm sure because I'm up for a fight they'll be very helpful and accommodating! Grin

MrsSL, that's ok, whenever you can get over will be fine with us, and yes you're right atm this lurgy infested household is probably best avoided.

Slightly - I usually have the flu jab (asthmatic) but this year decided not to as I'm just not sure about the swine flu part of it. If it was seperate I would have had the normal part and avoided the H1N1 bit. I, personally, am just wary about it. The old flu jab used to affect me really badly adn from what I've read the swine flu part is a live vaccine which in the past has been no good for me whatsoever. Can you make an appt with your GP to see what they think?

japhrimel · 25/11/2010 09:08

Slightly - I had the jab and got no side effects at all from it - barely even noticed afterwards where it had been done. And usually I get every side effect going. It's not a live vaccine afaik and TBH I'd say it's worth getting it - flu with a newborn would be really tough (and risky).

WLL - I'd be a bit Hmm at the MW not being able to tell which way up the baby is! My MW showed me the difference in how the bum & head move when you palpate - basically the head usually moves a lot more.

notso · 25/11/2010 10:56

Hi all, I am bored.
DH has banned me from doing anything as I got stuck on the floor yesterday evening(was picking stuff up from under DS's bed) while he was out with DC and had to wait there nearly an hour until he came homeBlush
He even phoned my Mum and told her she is not to let me persuade her to take me anywhere apart from for scan/ctg appointments.
I am allowed to take DC to school and go online though.
Not much else going on with LO, apart from bony little feet trying to stretch out. Might give the clary sage oil a go later on if I can get past the stench.

lavita phone labour ward about the clots just to check.
I had loads after both DC, and bleeding which carried on for about 7 weeks, the midwives said they were nothing to worry about, she said to look out for small pieces that look like bits of skin as they can mean some placenta is still present.

C&G bet you wish you hadn't asked after the moan aboveGrin Hows you BP now? 36 weeks tomorrow for us, I feel its going quite fast do you?

MrsSL hooray for finishing work. I want snow too, I love snow, though probably won't be doing much in it this year, we do have a new sledge though so if DH can't drive me to the hospital he can drag me there!

max my DS talks my ear off. Usually about complicated Star Wars senarios which I find it hard to understand!

Cheryl Poor you. Sounds like you are all having a rough time.
I have only had the flu twice once when I was little and my Mum sent me off to my lovely Grandmas because my sister was only a few months old, and once last year when I couldn't get out of bed, tried and fainted so my DC had to go to their lovely Grandmas.

Chooster We have always told my parents and PiL when I have gone into labour but DH has always firmly told his Mum that he won't be available again until LO arrives. I don't really like this constant updating business, when SIL was in labour we all had texts about how far dialated she was and then She's pushing. At least BIL held off on the picture messages!

japh how are you? Was thinking about you the other day and all the trouble you had trying to get someone to test for OC, I don't seem to be able to stop them testing me for OC despite 6 bile acid results of 1 or 2 and no significant itching for a weekConfused

emmaxmas · 25/11/2010 11:17

Morning all, just dropping in to say hi and marking my place on the new thread. Sorry to hear about all those feeling unwell. Am almost 36 weeks and am really starting to feel it now! Getting out of bed in the mornings is difficult- feel as though I've been hit by a bus and could just stay in bed all day! Swelling in legs still very bad and very painful but hopefully for not too much longer. Very unmotivated with work- still 3 weeks to go but winding down a bit. Very jealous of those on mat leave already.

Absolutely FREEZING here today. Am sitting inside with heating on AND winter coat. Just can't warm up!

Hope those who are feeling unwell feel much better soon.

DuelingFanio · 25/11/2010 12:43

Morning all, I am enjoying being a housewife more than I thought - though I am sure it will get boring soon.
I am about to paint the unit we hope to use as storage for baby stuff. Really hope the baby stays inside until after 40 weeks as we have a lot to do including getting rid of the spare bed. Still no sign of braxton hicks though the baby has been moving a lot today.

Chooster I have told my DH that I am fine for him to put a birth announcement on facebook but only after our closest family have been called and we mustn't put a picture on until both our mums have seen the baby. I have visions of him clicking away as I am crowning and giving people a second by second account! Grin

OWO and Cheryl hope you are feeling a bit better.

Wholelottalove · 25/11/2010 12:45

cheryl sorry you have the flu, what a nightmare. Hope you feel better soon and your DC and DP get better soon.

Lavita I too passed some very big and worrying clots, I think they were in the first week. Bit grim, but as insructed I saved them in a wapped up sanitary towel to show MW and all was ok. I would certainly get checked out though.

slightly yes, should still be time to do something. I'm not sure what would happen if I went into labour though. Clearly HB out of question. Would not want EMCS really if baby still breech in labour - would rather plan for it and prepare myself IYSWIM. I haven't had flue jab. I wondered, but haven't been offered it and midwife hasn't mentionned it so it doesn't seem worth it at this late stage.

OWO how are you feeling now?

Japh oh bugger, that is not good! The round lump at top definitely moves a lot whereas the one at the bottom is pretty static (TBH I have trouble feeling it, but MWs all say it is there).

notso sounds a bit scary getting stuck on the floor. Good on your DH for being worried about you.

emma hiya nice to see you! It's pretty cold here too, although have had heating blasting all day.

I am so embarrassed. My friend came over with her toddler and him and DD were fighting a bit. It was about 50:50 in terms of who was starting it but then just before they went to leave, she bit him, really hard Shock . There was a massive bruise on his arm, the poor thing. I gave her a time out and stern talking to and got her to apologise, but feel awful. My friend took it quite well, but I know I would have been annoyed if the roles were reversed. She's gone for a nap now, so I'm going to get my head down too I think.

MrsSnaplegs · 25/11/2010 12:59

I'm bored as well but also absolutely knackered! Haven't got the energy to do anything!

DH is currently mowing the lawn and tidying the garden of the new house. I'm restricted to making bread and sitting on the sofa. Loads I could be doing but really can't be bothered to be honest - clearly body playing catch up after finishing work!! Already had 1 phonecall from my boss Grin dread to think how he's going to cope with me off for 4 months!

Right going for a little nap -will catch up properly later Wink

maxpower · 25/11/2010 13:16

Ok, I've given in and ordered a new washing machine - can't risk this one clapping out entirely, which I just know would happen the day LO arrives! Helplfully, my DF broke my hoover on Tuesday as well. Hoping we may be able to get that fixed rather than have to replace it....I wonder what'll be next?

sorry you're feeling poorly cheryl

DF you sound a lot more cheerful today, glad you're enjoying being at home.

WLL sympathies over your DD - I think it's the kind of thing we all dread happening. Thankfully my DD wans't much of a biter and the only people she ever tried to bite were DH and I. I'm sure youre friend understands though.

I'm starting to get really frustrated not having a debit card or easy access to my account now. Hope the new card turns up quickly.

DuelingFanio · 25/11/2010 13:29

Just had a card from the Surgery introducing the health visitor and saying she'll be calling round on 1st December! She hopefully won't be wanting to look around the house!

OnlyWantsOne · 25/11/2010 13:40

its fucking snowing.

DuelingFanio · 25/11/2010 14:12

Where are you OWO?

My sister says it's snowing lightly in West Wales, I didn't expect it to come over here!
