Amber thanks you have put my mind at rest a little - I hope that your loo is on the same floor as your bedroom! Not surprised you are tired today! Do you think maybe you had a little bug at the weekend? There is so much going around. Great news about your scan and their weights :)

Welcome MrsPennyLane! Feel free to add your details to our list (you may have to scroll back for it). Are you having NonID or ID twins?

MrsPennyLane · 24/11/2010 13:42

Thanks!

I was first told NonID as separate sac and placenta, but then was told that they could still be ID so not entirely sure Confused

Amberc · 24/11/2010 14:23

Thank God I have an en suite bathroom!!!

Magic8ballhastheanswers · 24/11/2010 14:47

Ok now I am Envy I have a long walk downstairs to my lav

How very Confused for you Pennylane I thought they confirmed choronicity at your 12 weeks scan? When is your next scan?

MrsPennyLane · 24/11/2010 14:51

My next will be at 20 weeks but I'm at the hospital tomorrow so I'm going to ask about it. The midwife said if there are 2 sacs and 2 placentas they're NonID, but she said she wasn't an expert so to do some research. Sonographer said 'ooh, don't ask me that yet' when I asked if they were ID or NonID Hmm

tabbycat76 · 24/11/2010 16:31

Congrats and welcome mrspennylane - the more newbies we have on our thread means the closer to the top mine and others names appear on the list - eek! Reality hitting! I was told two separate sacs and placentas and so no id twins. How exciting!!! :)

Anyway, can I ask a personal question.... sorry if tmi but I wonder if anybody is experiencing the same as me, esp those of you that are quite far on in their pregnancy...

... Are any of you feeling a little 'heavy' down below?!? I've felt heavy for a little while now and thought it'd go but it hasn't. I don't mean heavy by heads in pelvis's or anything but heavy in your lady bits and back bits?! I've wondered if I might be developing piles or something so have been conscious not to strain but still feels a little weird. To be expected??? Am doing my plevic floor exercises too so what's going on?!?! Sorry guys, but wanna be reassured this is normal!! Haha

hippy3 · 24/11/2010 17:43

pennylane welcome .... you are in good hands on here and post anytime you like. I have found this thread more helpfull than some of the doctors to be honest!

Tabby that is EXACTLY how I feel. ALL of a sudden the last week or so I feel ' HEAVY'. Its weird, when I walk it feels like there is something there ..I know there is !! But its like I am so aware of it. weird.

On weirder news. Had another scan today as they were concerned last week as one twin had less amniotic fluid, so was to go back this week. Went back and fluid has increased both still growing evenly although one is still smaller... both kicking the s**t out of each other.

So asked if It was TTS which last week they said it wasnt, the sonographer said this week she though it was!!!! Confused. However she showed my results to the consultant and he said I dont need to go back for another two weeks, as he wasnt concerned. Confused.(This was the same consultant who bought me in weekly when he wanted to keep an eye on me)

Also met with a registrar and he said he didnt really have anything new to tell me both were within the normal fluid range and both growing and the same rates on the scale... one slightly smaller. So I am going to ignore what the sonographer said..what would you do? do you think?

Cerubina am so glad you are back at home I would have been terrified. Make sure you are treated like a queen....x and hope the rest of it is uneventful...Smile

Magic8ballhastheanswers · 24/11/2010 18:08

panic over, been to gp, pressure on me poor old bladder from the double bubbles. Suggested I sit with my knees up tonight as this will take the pressure off (and then probably give me backache!). I think I need to man up as fuck knows what it is gonna be like later on!

Tabby I know that feeling too Confused think its just the pressure........there is a link in Pregnancy about how your insides move to make room for baby.....will see if I can find it. BUT wouldn't hurt to mention it to your m/w or gp just to check.

Hippy glad your scan was ok. Are you going back in 2 weeks? How many weeks are you?

Pennylane I think you should ask for another scan before 20 weeks because if they are ID you need regular scans to check for TTTS, have you seen anyone twins related??

Magic8ballhastheanswers · 24/11/2010 18:09

here is the link make way for baby

holidays2010 · 24/11/2010 18:55

I read a little while back someone said their stretchmarks were itchy - well ive noticed im finding my bump just above the belly button and on sides iv been finding it more and more itchy- could it be itchy stretchmarks?

Cerubina · 24/11/2010 19:16

Magic - you made me laugh with your 'man up'. I think that is probably right for me too, there are so many weirdnesses we are going to have to just chill the f*ck out aren't we! I was showering this morning and thinking 'ooh, my bump feels really big, and my fanjo doesn't feel quite like normal...' - I'm only 18 weeks FFS. It is all going to get a lot weirder/bigger/more swollen/squashed/stretched before this is over!

Spanner just wanted to say sorry about the loss of your second twin, if you're reading. You sound as though you have taken it on the chin and as you say thank goodness the other one looks good, but I am still sorry to hear the other one didn't make it. Hope you have a very problem-free pregnancy for the remainder.

Penny welcome and I agree it sounds like non-id twins to me if they are in separate sacs with separate placentas, you have some slightly casual responses from your healthcare providers for my taste but I'm sure they would be talking about close monitoring if they were identical. Nice to have another new face on here anyway.

Got to go - parents have cooked supper and hassling me to go and eat! I guess that's not a bad problem to have!!

MrsPennyLane · 24/11/2010 19:28

Hi everyone,

I'm seeing midwife tomorrow and was told they'll book me in to see the consultant- we only found out last week we were having twins so I'm hoping they will give me more info tomorrow, although tbh the midwives don't seem very clued up on twins?! Is there anyone else I should be seeing?

Hope everyone is ok and having a good evening Smile

holidays2010 · 24/11/2010 19:43

Ive been told im supposed to meet a 'twin coordinator' since I was 12weeks but still havent, im going to ask for her on my next scan date at 26weeks.
I think shes the only 1 at the hospital who specialises in twin pregnancies.

hippy3 · 24/11/2010 21:03

Magic8 yep Im being scanned every two weeks but was asked to go in consecutive weeks last week as they were concerned about the amniotic.

I am being scanned and seeing a consultant every two weeks, and apparently the first sign of TTTS ill be shipped to some genius doctor in London( Who I have heard of but cant think of his name...he is greek..).

Am feeling a bit more confident that if they were worried about anything I would be in. I am 17 weeks 3 days.... have been scanned every two weeks since my 12 weeks appointment ! actually I live in the hospital now...!

Pennylane check out TAMBA website and Multiple births association, online. they should have been able to tell you if they are ID or not. ID twins u are kept an eye on REALLY regularly, or at least you should be. The only advice I can give is to demnand answers to any questions you have. I was a bit weak in the beginning and let them freak me out but now I feel a bit more in control...I think sometimes they can forget that you are going through a totally new experience.

But you will get loads of advice on here..I have !

Swazzee · 24/11/2010 23:39

Guys, the issue about keeping a close eye is not to do with the ID-ness of them, it's to do with the fact that they are, or aren't, in the same sac and/or sharing a placenta. If they're in the same sac, they are definitely ID but there's also a small chance (30%ish) they could be ID if in different sacs. But in different sacs, the close monitoring is not necessary as the risk is not as great. It gets more complicated with fused placentas etc, but the important thing is to be aware of the specific risks for your situation.

Anyway, home from hospital tonight for our first proper night as a family. I don't think mine look very alike although DH does - think he's just after an excuse for not being able to tell them apart. Only way to know for sure is a blood test - not sure I'll bother, yet anyway.

Will write with more info on the birth itself tomorrow, but now I must sleep after nights of no sleep in the hospital.

Cerubina · 25/11/2010 03:53

Swazzee welcome home and I hope you have (had) a great night's sleep - I know how hard it can be to sleep in hospital.

I can't sleep again, hence the time of posting! I have had a day of rest and not doing anything (actually am not up to doing anything anyway - my mum and dad walked me to the end of our road and back today, which was enough for me!) Anyway it all seems to add up to not being quite able to settle in bed so decided to come downstairs and watch TV - got some Christmas tunes on VH1 for company and our book of baby names.

The babies have been noticeably moving for the last few days, and it is nice to feel them squirming and somersaulting. I feel very happy at the moment I have to say - yes, quite uncomfortable and all that but so glad and grateful to be OK again with the twins OK, and so many lovely messages from friends and family that I feel very blessed. I think I am becoming a soppy bugger in pregnancy.

Hippy I noticed that you didn't get many comments on what the sonographer said to you - FWIW I agree that I would disregard it and assume things are currently looking good. You've obviously corrected the levels of fluid alright and if the consultant and registrar are happy with what your results are showing then I would trust that. As you say, you're being checked so often that they will pick up anything very quickly if it needs it.

Night all.

tabbycat76 · 25/11/2010 10:00

Thanks magic8 for the link - wow we certainly are amazing creatures aren't we, and that little video certainly explains why we feel so many different minor ailments like constipation, bloatedness, upper wind, and feeling a bit unfit generally!!!! Thanks.

I'm afraid I can't comment on TTS. My twinnies are Non Id so I haven't much of a clue but I do know you should be monitored more closely. As for twin coordinators... wish our unit had one!

Am going to be transferring units very soon. I wonder what my new Consultant will advise re mode of delivery. I'm hoping this unit will offer maternal choice!!! Something a lot of units seem to be lacking!

Anyway, feeling a bit miffed today. Since we moved a couple of mths ago, Ive been trying to establish a social network on here in our local area. There are loads of girls on ere that CLAIM to want to meet socially but in reality it never seems to happen. I arranged a night out for tomorrow night and had two replies.... one since has gone cold on me and the other one I've not heard of for a while either. I feel so disheartened by it all and wonder, why did I bother?!?!?

MrsPennyLane · 25/11/2010 16:44

hippy I went today determined to be get information I need Grin luckily the midwife today seemed abit more clued up, have been booked to see consultant at 16 weeks

swazzee thanks, that was what I have been told today, they don't know if they're ID but they have separate sacs and placentas which lowers the risk

tabby I wish there was something like that near me! Although there could be for all I realise!

MrsPennyLane · 25/11/2010 16:49

Sorry, I meant to put it lowers risks so I won't need the extra checkups that you need with ID twins who share sac/placenta

hippy3 · 25/11/2010 18:08

pennylane good for you at least now you feel a bit moe in control...being told its twins can be very daunting and scary, I was terriffied!

tabby I would LOVE to have a meet up near me, anyone in the bournemouth area???? Have phoned my MW about meeting other expectant twin mums in my area but so far no such luck...although I do know there is a twins club in my area that I can attend so am going to start to do that.

Am being taken away again this weekend, to my old haunt Brighton and cannot wait. lots of my old uni friends are getting together, it will be the first time ive seen any friends since announcing im pregnant, so cant wait too see them all. Am going to wear something to show off my growing(VERY QUICKLY!) bump...Smile.

magicI am going to read and show my DP the link you posted... we deserve a medal !

swazee welcome home...xx how exciting....hope you are feeling on top of the world.... chat to you all after the weekend x
