Glad im not the only one with period type pains! Its worse at night, but i refuse to take paracetemol because i hate taking tablets full stop!

Got to try and get myself and Jess dressed and ready in 30 minutes to go to toddler group and all i really want to do is lay on the sofa!

Oh well, once back from toddlers Jess will sleep for a couple of hours and i can get my head down then!

triceratops · 23/09/2005 08:31

Good luck with aquanatal. I tried to get booked in but I had left it too late this time. I don't actually feel that big compared with last time but I do have alarming cellulite on my bum. Shocking.

I am glad my baby is pointing in the right direction (through none of my doing). Hope all those babies turn in time.

BBB I imagine that you will be seeing your little one soon.

Moomin - I hope the hospital stay is not too bad. The end result will be worth it.

MP your garden is going to look great in the spring from the sounds of it. I am quite envious. Mine is a complete mess unless you are particularly ford of buttercups.

Elf - You can only ask. I loved sharing my last birth with my mum. She would have been so upset to have missed it. I hope it works out for you.

danishmummy · 23/09/2005 09:03

Mawbroon - wow, maybe your dream is a sign of how your birth will be? Is it your 1st? Admiring your skill to feel where his head is. Hope he will turn soon. Good luck!

Jockey - thanks for wishing me well.

morningpaper · 23/09/2005 09:06

I had a friend who nearly gave birth in her sleep - her husband had to wake her up! This was in the sixties though and she'd been given a hardcore sleeping tablet by her doctor!!!

mawbroon · 23/09/2005 09:34

Danishmummy - ha ha yes, it's my first! I don't think I would be having such an unrealistic dream otherwise

When you prod the baby's head, it feels really hard and moves quite freely. I have been getting quite a lot of braxton hicks though and it is impossible to tell which way baby is lying when my bump is rock hard.

fastasleep · 23/09/2005 10:28

Waaaah I was doing so well till this week... my back's broken or something... completely knackered... I can't help going 'ahhhhh oooooooow' whenever I have to stand up or sit down and I have to waddle up and downstairs really really slowly... I'm missing DS's toddler group, we've only been out once this week... and I've got 4 weeks left to go! 4 weeks!!! I'm depriving him of his social life I'm awful!

I have no ideas left, I don't know how to entertain him, JM I'm with you I really want to just go to bed for aaaaaaaaages.... and DH is going to be late home argh!

Elf I hope you get to have your mum around, personally I want mine to be as far away as possible lol... Hester pregnant ladies can't be expected to have no proper washing facilities that's disgusting!!

My mws are so weird... I mean... I know it's a woman's right to have a homebirth no matter what... if I manage to will this little one out early to save my back what will I do? They're not bringing the equipment round until 38 weeks plus, they're not giving me the magic number to call for a mw until next Wednesday... I think I'll be drinking castor oil and eating curry with DH chained to the bed by then!! (Seriously though it's a bit worrying!)

Ooh Mishmash your little one sounds sooo cute... mine might be smaller though (well smaller than him by the time she comes out iykwim!) I have small babies (which makes me sound awful when I go on about wanting her out now!)

CPT · 23/09/2005 10:34

I'm back!!! SO sorry I have been so slack on this board. But I have just started mat leave now so hope to be able to join in more. am I allowed?
I am now 35+3 and doing ok.
Had scan at 32wks which says BIG BABY! Hd GTT and all normal so just big! Got another scan on tuesday to check he/she is not getting TOO big Also had a day on monday of being puffy, protein in wee, BP up a bit so was sent to hospital for check up the next day but all ok when I got there. Trying to be good and rest lots now! Had super day at Spa with BF onwednesday. Lots of time in water floating around! Fantastic Had facial too. Being having reflexology but typical as I start mat leave the reflexologist goes on hols! Not sure whether to wait or find another one for a couple of weeks.

I will catch up with personals too next time - hope you are all really well

Love CPT x

morningpaper · 23/09/2005 10:58

CPT nice to hear from you! I've been swimming a few times and it's SO nice to be bouyant. I secretly hope that the hospital birthing pool will be free when I go into labour so I can try it out. Mind you I said that last time and when I arrived was totally mute and only capable of waving around a bit of paper with EPIDURAL written on it....

Lexie100 · 23/09/2005 11:30

Anyone got their nursing bras yet? Any preferences?

OP posts:
Elf1981 · 23/09/2005 11:34

Well, it didn't work
The consultant I saw was happy with me having the section early (they said the 5th, I asked for the week before). He spoke to another consultant (for all the signatures they need to get) who initially said no but then said he was quite happy for me to have the section on the 3rd before my mum goes in on the 4th. Then they tried to book it in but the 3rd was full. They could do the 26th or 27th Sept but the second consultant wasn't budging any early than the 3rd. So the first date that I could get was the 6th October. So my mum goes into hospital on the 4th and gets out on the 10th (ish) and I go in on the 6th and stay in til the 11th (ish). Feel very but they did promise that if I went into labour naturally they do an "emergency" section that day.
Do feel like a slight criminal every time they kept saying "elective section" - anybody else having a section feel a bit like that, I mean, it's not as if we planned these conditions / breech babies! Ahh well, I guess they tried their best.
Got pre-op appointment on the 27th to see about five different people, so will see how that goes.

Blood in my urine sample again, doc said it could be related to the infection I had, but I've finished my anti-biotics for that so surely that shouldn't be the case? Also think I have thrush from the anti-biotics, which usually happens with me, but I tend to get it in the throat rather than elsewhere and now I'm unhappy and itchy!

Sorry for the long post. Needed a rant.

jai38 · 23/09/2005 11:35

Good question Lexie, I was wondering about nursing bras, I have four weeks left but have not increased in size at all during the last eight months. Am assuming this will be different when milk comes in so when do you get measured. Bras are expensive!!

Lexie100 · 23/09/2005 11:42

They say anythime from 37 weeks i think. Mine haven't grown for ages either but if i'm going to spend good money i want to get it right.

OP posts:
morningpaper · 23/09/2005 11:43

Nursing bras: I'd recommend Marks and Spencers cotton nursing bras, £22 for two.

You'll probably need a load of them because they get messed up and stink of milk about 200 times a day.

nervousmum2be · 23/09/2005 11:45

Lexie - i got mine from Jojomamanbebe as they were recommended, and i got nursing sleep bras from Mothercare. I should be able to tell you after Monday if either are any good!

Had my last MW appt this morning too. It's scary to think that in 3 days i will be having a baby. Still, thankfully all the DIY stuff has been finished and we're actually ready (well, as ready as you can be...!), though i'm sure MIL will find something to complain about

morningpaper · 23/09/2005 11:47

Hehehe good luck nm2b! When are the grannies descending on you?

I've been wearing my nursing bras for a few months because I'm too FAT for my normal bras and they are all underwired anyway.

Definitely the biggest DOWNER for me about breastfeeding is that I had to spend 2 years with no cleavage - I was so happy to get back into my Wonderbra when dd was weaned!!

nervousmum2be · 23/09/2005 11:49

not sure, as we haven't told her the exact date of my section yet (trying to be sneaky and buy a bit of time!), but i suspect they'll be here by mid-next week. I think i'll plead with the MW's to let me stay in hospital a bit longer till they have gone home

Lexie100 · 23/09/2005 12:01

thank you all for advice

OP posts:
jai38 · 23/09/2005 12:06

I think I am going to wait another couple of weeks for measuring as I have had slightly moist nipples for the last couple of days so things might increase!!! (TMI????) - that and I hate getting measured for bras especially in m and s as they always seem to get it wrong - worryingly last time they did not have my size and told me I would def be a different size elsewhere??

fastasleep · 23/09/2005 12:34

Good luck NM2B!

Aww Elf, maybe you'll go into labour and they can do you and emergency one? Try sex and pineapples and curry...

M&S measure me wrong too, the bra always looks ok in the shop and then I put it on at home and I get the picasso four boob effect I get my breastfeeding bras from bravissimo here , they're very nice, a bit more expensive than £22 for two though I think! And of course they can't measure you over the net, luckily there's a shop nearish me.. I like the mothercare sleep ones too but to be honest they're crap for 'daytime wear' because if you actually have boobs they sort of force them together and the nipples start to point to each other and then they get stuck together and it can get quite bizarre looking lol!

Must waddle downstairs and make lunch... ouch.. DS has just headbutted the desk and as per usual looks like a child from an NSPCC advert..

Can't believe some of you are so close now! Don't leave me on here by myseeelllfff!

triceratops · 23/09/2005 13:03

I recommend elle mcphereson bras. I refuse to be entirely shapeless and utilitarian for the next two years. I never expected to do extended bfeeding with ds, otherwise I would have invested in decent underwear from the beginning instead of spending ages in those horrid bras from mothercare. I demand some frills !

Elf - you are going to have to ask for hospital phone vouchers as pressies so that you can phone your mum all the time. I hope she will be feeling better after her operation and better able to cope with her new grandchild.

FA if you have your baby at home before 37 weeks in my area they make you do it with the ambulance crew. You are just going to have to hold on tight for another couple of weeks.

morningpaper · 23/09/2005 13:04

"FA if you have your baby at home before 37 weeks in my area they make you do it with the ambulance crew"

WAHAY!!!!!

Count me IN!

Lexie100 · 23/09/2005 13:06

he he he he and me

OP posts:
fastasleep · 23/09/2005 13:07

Don't you get me started on Elle and her bras that don't go up to my size... why not...WHY?! WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY I'm only a size 12... they just happen to be cup size G maybe if I bought three and mangled them together with my sewing machine they'd fit...

Yeeehhaaaa @ the ambulance crew! Yes pleeease... glugs the castor oil

poor starving neglected boy is staring at me

fastasleep · 23/09/2005 13:11

(You know it's perfectly legal to have a completely unassisted birth, so they can't actually make us do anything.... I'm not the type to go and do something mad like that though lol)

alterego · 23/09/2005 14:13

Mothercare have started doing quite nice nursing bras - different colours, different fabrics - not just plain white cotton.

Have been crawling around on all fours to encourage sprog into back to front position. Seems to work for a while so I get some relief from the discomfort. Also taken to watching TV kneeling on floor and leaning on coffee table. Dh thinks it's an invitation of some kind but I soon put him straight.
