Hi all, thanks for the wishes the other day, sorry I've been quiet for a while. Am tired but doing ok, very sad for friend but trying not to let anxieties get the better of me.

Birthday on friday so planning a nice weekend, and had a really fun day with my DS and a friend and her 3 kids yesterday so am quite cheery today.

Hope everyone ok and not suffering too much from nasty pg ailments! I as hoping to get into midwife on thurs but only appt is late morning which just doesn't fit too well with work. Never mind. Got consultant a week on friday, just wish he had a doppler. Maybe if I say I'm getting anxious he'll find one?! Probably not eh? I've been getting plenty of movement so shouldn't worry too much.

7 weeks & 2 days and counting! Yikes!!

FunkyMonkey1983 · 08/11/2010 16:42

Is anyone else getting another scan at 36 weeks?

I didn't think I would be getting one as I don't have any issues with the baby's growth or the location of the placenta but as I've opted for the local MLU the midwife booked me in for one.

Jobi1 · 08/11/2010 18:30

I wish! I really want another scan but can't afford to go private.

cotswolder · 08/11/2010 20:19

I was told that after the 20 week we don't get any more unless there is a problem so not sure yet. Would love another one but don't want to know the flavour so could be a problem.....

mummychicken · 08/11/2010 20:34

31w +2 days

I passed my last wee test!!! There was glucose in my last one (due to the amount of sugary crap I had eaten on my b-day, same day as wee test). This time - all fine Grin

Keep thinking about nesting, but can't be arsed at the moment-hope it kicks in soon - house is a tip!!

Hello all, sorry ive been so quiet for quite a while, just got back from our wedding in Cyprus which was absolutely lovely! flights not so much fun with LO deciding to be the most active he's been in a long time, meaning constant kicks in the ribs.

Lots to catch up on but I hope everyone who have been having problems are all ok and even feeling a bit better, congratulations on the wee test mummychicken glad all is fine :)

DH and I both really wanted another scan considering going private but just an extra expenditure when no real reason other than reassurance, obviously dont want anything to go wrong to cause need for an nhs one though so for now were happy, just seems like such a long time still till see our LO for real!!

Very jealous of everyone who has started nesting, we moved house about 5 weeks ago and still have boxes to unpack, hoping it will kick in soon or may have to just naturally motivate myself to do something!! Only 3 more weeks of work though so counting down now. Thought I would be dreading maternity leave from boredom but now at 31+3 my whole body husrts after a long shift, very much looking forward to it. anyone else the same?

Jobi1 · 09/11/2010 10:57

Congratulations on your special day hannah, glad you had a lovely wedding!

I am 32+3 and can't wait for mat leave. My work chair is really uncomfortable and I get so stiff and achey, can't wait to get home every day, not to mention being knackered! Is this your first? I recommend relaxing and napping as much as possible, interspersed with unpacking and nesting Smile

RoxieP · 09/11/2010 11:41

Congratulaions Hannah! Yes I know how you feel re: work - I usually get bored when I have time off work but I have been feeling really exhausted recently, and even though I am lucky enough to sit on my butt all day at work I have been really finding it hard to get out of bed in the mornings, and can barely move from the sofa when I get home! Struggling to keep up with the most basic of housework - would be lovely to have the time off to spread it throughout the day but I don't really have the luxury of being able to afford much time off as won't be entitled to mat pay/allowance... working right up til xmas!

We also moved house recently, and it delayed nesting a bit as first priority was getting house organised/livable before we even started to think of baby stuff! Finally getting sorted now though!

Hannah1890 · 09/11/2010 18:58

Thankyou!! Yes jobi1 this is my first so still finding it a surprise as to how hard it actually is being pregnant, I always thought must be easy as so many women do it and then even choose to do it again! sure will all be worth it in the end though.

Thats rubbish about mat pay/allowance Roxie, I started work right at the start of my pregnancy before I found out, so am on the borderline of being entitled to maternity allowance, although having a bit of a battle trying to get paper work together. I hope everything goes well and that you enjoy the bit of maternity leave you do get.

Had a bit of an eventful day in the end today, ended up admitted to the delivery suite as part of my waters had gone. I'd always imagined it to be a massivce gush of water like always happens on tv, but apparently not. Been hooked up to monitor most of the afternoon, only had 5 contractions which I didnt feel much of. All calmed down eventually though and am now home with strict instructions to rest from DH, anyone had any experience of this? midwife didnt seem too concerned but I always thought once your waters had gone baby would follow soon after?

sarrita · 09/11/2010 20:24

Hannah1890 Shock that sounds a bit exciting! Um my waters didn't break until I was just about to give birth and the MW went "ooh, your waters haven't broken yet" and did it for me...

So no help there.

Good luck, I imagine it will be fairly soon or a stint in hospital. Just make sure that you are feeling well, that you don't have a temperature or anything, and there is feotal movement. And DON'T HESITATE to go to the hospital if you are even the tiniest bit concerned.

Good luck.

RoxieP · 09/11/2010 21:21

Omg Hannah - hope you're ok. So do they still think you could go full-term? What was it like if you don't mind me asking? Just a trickle? How did you know it was that and not just, ya know, other things? Sorry if too intrusive me asking...

Hannah1890 · 09/11/2010 21:35

Thankyou sarrita Thats exactly what midwife said if feeling ill or if baby is moving less. he was going crazy whilst on the monitor so think that helped in not worrying.

No worries about asking Roxie hope people dont mind if give a bit tmi. To be honest had been having leaking for about a week, but just thought was watery discharge or even wee wat with my bladder getting a good kicking. Last night when I was at work though had it much more, not a gush but enough to run down my leg (sorry if tmi) was clear and didnt smell like urine, so phoned midwife this morning just to ask really and she referred me straight to delivery suite. When I told them I'd had it for about a week just not as bad midwife went into panic mode, Dr was fine about it though, very calm and said cervix was fully shut again and that in some women it just trickles continously. Have no idea about going full term, have got Drs tomorrow and they will book me in for another scan to check fluid levels, so fingers crossed. LO still moving around like crazy though so for now Im staying calm. Think gave DH a bit of a scare though that it could be pretty much any time now !!

RoxieP · 09/11/2010 21:41

I suppose even if they did have to deliver early we are all at the stage now where everything is very likely to be fine anyway. Hope it all goes well! x

cotswolder · 09/11/2010 22:06

Hannah - must have been scary for you and glad things have settled a little. Can well imagine it sent your DH into a bit of a tiz!

Thanks for also explaining about waters leaking as had been wondering the same myself - ie, how do you know it is waters and not urine!

Hope all goes well at docs and huge congratualtions on your wedding!

Jobi1 · 09/11/2010 22:34

Oh Hannah, that sounds a bit stressy. You sound like you're handling it so well. Thanks for the info re waters, really appreciated. Mine were broken for me last time, so I wouldn't have a clue! Wishing you lots & lots of luck for your scan tomorrow, hopefully will just mean you need to rest up for the last few weeks. Keep us posted! X

Stardown · 10/11/2010 01:47

Hi, I had joined the thread previously somewhere under a diff name, but here I am now!

DP and I are expecting our first baby, a boy, he is due on 22 Jan but very likely to be born early due to:

A) Single umbilical cord artery
B) Reduced amniotic fluid
C) Gestational Diabetes

So he will definitely not be going beyond 38 weeks in any case.

We have a scan tomorrow to check the fluid and artery in his umbilical cord that was flagged up at our 20 week scan, there is a very slight chance he'll be born in the next 48 hours (hence why I'm up at 2am shitting myself!) but hopefully he stays put for awhile. Smile

Confused as to why this is one of the least active threads in Antenatal and those due after us are chatting more! Grin Come on girls!

Stardown · 10/11/2010 01:49

Oh, we are 29+4 here according to scans!

But according to our LMP calculations we're actually 32 exactly... Hmm

Hannah1890 · 10/11/2010 10:08

Thankyou for sympathy glad to be able to chat on here without sending people into a mad panic, also nice to know that not everyone would have recognised it was their waters going to as mw made me feel a bit stupid lol.

Wow stardown seems like you've had quite alot of drama throughout your pregnancy!! Hope everything goes well today for you and LO can have a bit more growing time, thts what were hoping for at the moment too.

RoxieP · 10/11/2010 11:21

Stardown - I have the same thing with due dates though they don't vary that wildly! You would have thought LMP was most reliable indication of when baby was conceieived, espec. if cycles were always regular! But they do tend to like scans to date by, I would have thought babies vary a bit in their size/development so would be difficult to say exactly how far along you are to the DAY!

Anyway sorry to hear about all your troubles, and welcome!

Stardown · 10/11/2010 15:47

DP and I are both female and used a donor so we know exactly when baby was conceived (she is carrying him by the way) Grin which was the funny part for us!!

We just came back from the scan and it was all rather rushed but sonographer says he looks okay. The fluid level was within normal range she said...but then when we got out and looked at the plot on the graph it was literally on the 1st centile! Shock

His abdomnial circumference and femur length have grown according to the graph but his head which was above 50th centile has now dropped to about 30th - again she didn't seem at all concerned Hmm

Won't see specialist for another week to discuss so we're considering paying for a private scan as I don't have a lot of faith in our local hospital.

RoxieP · 10/11/2010 16:49

One of my best friends is in a civil partnership and they are both jealous of my pregnancy and now seriously considering looking into getting pregnant. Was your donor anonymous? They are wondering how to go about it.

Yes I think I know the exact time I conceieved - a mishap that I thought would be ok but turned out not to be!

I'm sure your little one will be fine - though I know what a worrying time pregnancy is! x

Stardown · 10/11/2010 17:05

Hi Roxie - we used a website dealing in free sperm donations, I think the membership cost us something like 15-20 for 6 months.

All the donors on the site will donate in the couples' home or a selected location (hotel, etc) for free - the trick is to select a donor who also donates to clinics so that he has all of the necessary paperwork.

We did consider the clinic route but apart from having to pay ridiculous sums PLUS then the sums for IVF / IUI, the success rate is actually lower. And we would never have gotten to meet our donor in person, know what he looks like, his history, background, and what his voice sounds like! He has also agreed to donate when we try for a second child which was important to us, lives geographically far away and keeps track of all his offspring in case of an occasional meet in the future, and has a family of his own.

Feel free to PM me if you want more info Smile

How's everyone else doing?

DancingCat · 10/11/2010 17:23

Hello ladies, just a quick update, back from my latest scan (am 29+3) - he's perfect (their words not mine) and an estimated 3lbs. Best scan we've had, he's beautiful. Am feeling on top of the world.
Hope everyone else is having a good day x

Stardown · 10/11/2010 17:56

Dancing how great! We went for our scan today too and are 1 day behind you! They wouldn't tell us his weight, very Envy of you!

How lovely to be told he's perfect!! Smile

Stardown · 10/11/2010 17:56

Sorry one day ahead of you, must remember to count properly Hmm
