Hi spud Good to see you here! Can't remember when I rang Alison today but yes I did ring. Been seeing Selina this week and she's fab - don't know if you've read much below but I got significant contractions starting right there in my 3rd session with her on Wed - they built right up into what seemed to be labour last night but then disappeared - Selina's away now till Sun so I'm seeing Alison first thing tomorrow. I must email you for your RL name so that I can say who recommended her - I always feel a bit of a weirdo saying 'someone off the net'

GOOD LUCK spud - like you I'm booked for a homebirth and still hoping ...

congratulations Sallie!

Well, due date been and gone, so now into extra time, with people ringing all the time to check up on me! As I was 8 days late with ds2 I'm not too surprised really. Have no indications that anythings about to start, but having had ds1 on a friday and ds2 on a saturday I'm likely to have ds3 on a sunday!

spudballoo · 09/09/2005 19:47

Yes, I read your message...well Selina clearly helped you along the way but you might need a 'top up'! Where are you seeing Alison as a matter of interest? Is she practicing at Broadway Market, that's where I saw her today. It's very lovely there.

Am I in labour? Am I not? Who's to know! One thing is for sure I am ready to meet this baby, just to stick two fingers up at the horrid registrar. She can put her induction you know where.....!

welcome spud. good luck to you and Franch this weekend. Hope you both get the homebirths you want.

zoezebra · 09/09/2005 20:34

How muggy is it??? For those in London, why did the torrential rain storm and thunder and lightening not clear it?? Feel very sorry for you preggers girlies who must be suffering.

Well J is a week old today and I have survived two days on own without DH at home feeling very pleased with myself! DD been really sweet now she knows J is not going back!! For those worried about sibling rivalry, as I was, its not been too bad. DD played up alot more before the birth as she knew I was vunerable. I have read some of your posts and seen that your 1st's are doing the same as mine, its almost like they know that we will give in as your're too tired, hot, huge to do anything about it. I had so many tantrums from DD in the week leading up to the birth. DD now just wants to mother him, sweet but everything takes 8 times as long to do as she HAS to help. The hardest part is juggling meal times as so far they have both wanted food at the same time in the eve. At least its the weekend and I have help back .
Sending some positive labour vibes for the weekend ahead, hoping to come back on Sunday and read that some more babes have been born. Good luck girls and am thinking of you all.

zoezebra · 09/09/2005 20:36

Forgot to say....Congratulations Sallie , another lovely name.

mummyhill · 09/09/2005 21:14

OK could this be it at last or am I crying wolf again, been having contractions every half hour for last three hours, lasting a couple of mins at a time. Am going to stay mobile try not to go to bed and rest in case it makes it all grind to a halt again!!!

Redhelen · 09/09/2005 21:48

mummyhill

Best of luck - what a day you have had! Just think when your dd is about to become a mum herself - you can tell her what a little so and so she was the day/day before her sibling was born! My Mum enjoys reminding me of similar things I did whan just 2 years old!!!

If you stay up tonight - post a mail - I'm more than likely to be around - as I only sleep in the day!!

spudballoo · 09/09/2005 22:33

I don't know what to do for the best either. Period pain still knocking around, plus regular tightenings but I don't think I could call them contractions. Had one which made me stop in my tracks about an hour ago, but nothing like it since.

I'm very tired and feel like I need some sleep, but I don't know whether to try, or whether to keep active like you mummyhill?

HELP!

x

Redhelen · 09/09/2005 23:05

spudballoo - I'd say get some sleep if your bady says sleep - I really don't think labour would stop if the times right. However you may find it difficult to get comfortable.

KiwiKate · 10/09/2005 05:02

Hi Spud - when I had my first, I went to sleep after my waters broke (because mw told me I was not in labour) and woke up 4 hours later fully dialated! So I agree with RH, if this is it, your body will do its thing whether you are sleeping or active. Also, it is a good idea to conserve your energy if you can.

Good luck mummyhill. Hope that THIS is it for you.

mummyhill · 10/09/2005 07:18

Ended up going to bed as was shattered. Everything clamed down as far as I can tell but have had a couple of twinges since getting up. Have had the urge to check car seat and put it in the boot and to bring the carrycot down starirs ready for when bean arrives. Bump appeas to have droped a bit further but I really am getting fed up are you going to srrive or not little one?

jessysmummy · 10/09/2005 08:35

CONGRATULATIONS sallie ! Think the girls are outnumbering the boys now.
Big hugs to you Franch - so near and yet so far. Hope babe is just saving energy for the big "push"! Good luck!
And good luck to you mummyhill, pooka and spud.
DD is being so cute this morning - she's only really just learnt to play by herself in the last week or so. Keeps putting her dollies to bed adn patting themon the back and giving them kisses. Gives me hope that she will cope with the arrival of this new brother or sister quite well...time will tell.

LadyLazarus · 10/09/2005 09:50

CONGRATULATIONS to Sallie! and much !!

Have had a very quiet night here, all the twinges of yesterday have disappeared...but at least I've caught up on my sleep a bit. Aah another day...

Redhelen · 10/09/2005 11:42

Morning

Feeling like a rag doll today - no energy - terrible heart burn from last nights curry - never again! DS up 3 times in the night & dh reacted to eating too much curry! Hoping to liven up soon!!! chocolate thats it!

Come on babies!

LadyLazarus · 10/09/2005 12:35

DH says he definitely thinks my bump has 'dropped' since yesterday, although it's hard for me to see it...fingers crossed!!

HelenEmjay · 10/09/2005 12:42

Hiya ladies!! congrats to all those who have had there babies!! its all getting really exciting now isnt it? im booked for my section on monday morning (12th) so im just now starting to cr*p myself! ! its all to real now!

LadyLazarus · 10/09/2005 12:53

P.S. CONGRATULATIONS Sallie!

Redhelen · 10/09/2005 12:55

HelenEmjay - best of luck - had a section when ds born - really ok - but do make sure they involve you. take care xx

HelenEmjay · 10/09/2005 13:16

Thanks redhelen! i had my pre-op yesterday and when i asked the midwife about writing a birth plan (i know it would obviously be limited) she just disregarded it, i wanted to have skin to skin with baby ASAP after delivery, and she said when you get back to your room you can do what you want! she was so rude about it! im writing my preferences in my book anyway! i would have thought i could still have some requests! my ds1 was born by emergency c-section and i had ds2 by elective and it never occured to me to write a birth plan, so im really hopeing it will be different this time, surely women who have c-sections have just as much right to requests???

pooka · 10/09/2005 13:34

Haven't had uch of an opporuntity to read all the recent postings. Contratulations Sallie!
Tom Alexander was born yesterday night at 8.59 weighing 7 13 after a very quick established labour - about 2 hours total. Supposed to have home birth, rang delivery suite when things hotted up, to be told no midwives available. Really really needed gas and air, so went to hospital, to be told only 4cm, but had urge to push and Tom arrived about 40mins laterhad Tom (born with membranes intact - the bulging waters was what they could feel rather than my cervix) Left as soon as tear could be sutured.
It hurt!!!!! - having had an epidural and pethidine last time I had no idea.
Good luck Franch! Have a large G & T.

Katts · 10/09/2005 14:01

Congratulations Pooka!!

Just wondering, did they not give you any pain relief for the sutures?

pooka · 10/09/2005 14:07

sorry - I meant the labour hurt, was toking on g&a and had plenty of jabs for the stitching.

Kiwifruit · 10/09/2005 14:17

Congratulations Pooka and family ! Sorry you didn't get your homebirth Pooka, but sounds like you didn't have to spend much time in the hospital !

How hot is it? Feel like I'm about to melt into a big puddle on the living room floor. It's pouring down with rain, but doesn't seem to be having much effect on the temperature .
