aww bless ya hun!! -hugs for Jammiedodger-

I'm 14 weeks pregnant and on Sunday I slept for about 14 hours and was still so tired afterwards, sometimes you are just worn out. Give yourself a break you are growing a baby!! You just sound exhausted. When you are tired everything is so much harder and more upsetting. So the real question is if you're really that tired why are you posting at 10pm instead of already being tucked up in bed!!

I hope you have a better day tomorrow! Sleep well and get lots of it!!

superpenguin · 21/09/2010 08:45

Hello everyone.

muser welcome back from your hols.

purplefan sorry to hear about your test results and glad to hear you are getting lots of support and information. I know nothing at all about turners syndrome so cannot help but good luck.

nowpanic it had never occured to me to start looking at ante-natal classes this early! I thought they were something you did right near the end of pregnancy!
I don't know if I will want to pay £250 for them though. A friend of mine did the NCT classes and really enjoyed and made lots of new friends there. However I have also heard that they put on the pressure to have a natural birth and I don't want to feel like I'm a bad person for possibly wanting an epidural etc. I will have a look into it though and see what's going in my area.

jammie don't worry about it, you are bound to feel tired and there's nothing wrong with having a good cry!

welcome to all the new people too!

DH and I spent the weekend with friends who have just had their first baby (10 weeks old) which was great - their little girl was so good too, and it really made me look forward to when our little one arrives!

Meanwhile, I have this week off work to relax! Although we have started re-doing our toilet/shower room (not the main bathroom) and spent yesterday ripping old tiles off walls and sorting out water pipes! ok DH did most of the hard work..

mixedmamameansbusiness · 21/09/2010 11:20

Morning all.

Good to see everything going well. Hormones abound clearly but what can we do.... it is not in our control.

FWIW I am also still knackered. Particularly on the days I dont work about 3pm I feel like a snooze. Bizarre. As someone already said we are growing another human being that has to be tiresome work.

Had my 16 week appointment today and the MW (not the usual one) wont let me move the due date 3 days as the sonographer (evil calling me fat sonographer) didnt officially change it. So I am still 16+2 rather than the 15+4. I am holding onto the extra 2 days incase I do go overdue anyway.

Today was supposed to be my official last day at work as my notice is up but I agreed to work till 5 October, but now DS's school is coming up with a zillion meetings that I want to attend and cant as they fall on work days (grrrr) so want to change it and finish on Friday. presumably they cant actually really say anything since I am doign them a favour staying on. They are not keeping me here in order to replace me rather so that all the end of month scanning etc can be done. I feel bad and wonder about just emailing them next week and saying I am not coming back - evil and awful but I just dont want to have another conversation.

Purplefan · 21/09/2010 17:25

Hi everyone,
Hope you are all well.

I have been up the hospital this afternoon asking more questions and getting more answers. The Geneticist we saw was lovely and really helpful.

DH and I have made our decision that we will let our little girl decide her fate and if she is meant to be in this world then she will make it.

We have a positive sign in the fact that the fluid has reduced substantially and this takes alot of pressure from her internal organs.

Its not gonna be an easy pregnancy - but have lots of rl support and you guys have been great too. Grin
Now need to try and have a positive pregnancy. Hmm
xx

spilttheteaagain · 21/09/2010 18:35

Purplefan you and your DH sound so brave. Congratulations on having made your decision, I hope it's given you a bit of peace to have decided what you are/aren't doing.

Wishing you all the best x

StrangewaysHereICome · 21/09/2010 20:05

Hi Purple I really admire how you are dealing with this. It's great news that the fluid has reduced and she has a better chance. She has proved she is a fighter already. I hope the next few months are kind to you and you have a positive pregnancy.

Take care xx

geisha · 21/09/2010 20:22

Hi everyone! I'm expecting my 3rd child on 13/3.
Dd 1 (6), dd2 (4). Great to read that so many are enduring same symptoms. I'm not sleeping after I get up for a wee, but grateful nausea has subsided.

1Catherine1 · 22/09/2010 00:59

Hi Purple, glad you've made a decision. Good luck in the next few months.

Welcome geisha, glad your nausea has subsided I've learnt not to say those words since every time I do it pops up again out of the blue and I end up shouting at the OH for whatever smelly thing he has made/left out for me to clean up. I'm starting to wonder if it's all in my mind and if really I'm just completely insane and expect to be sick hence am sick. Interesting theory don't you think? Hmm

EvianBaby · 22/09/2010 08:31

Hi purplefan I'm pleased that you've reached a decision with the help of professional information, the fact that the fluid has reduced sounds positive. Lots of love and luck to you and your baby for teh next few months x

Welcome and congratulations geisha

Muser · 22/09/2010 10:47

I think you're amazing Purplefan. Best of luck with everything.

I had my second midwife appointment today and got to hear the baby's heartbeat. It was amazing. I just ordered myself a Doppler from Amazon so I can recreate it at home for MrM. Assuming I am as good at finding the heartbeat!

I'm glad you have come to a decision and got more info from the geneticist purplefan

I have MW appt next thursday.

Tonight I'm going with dp to see Dara o'Briain, I got 2nd row tickets for dps birthday Smile

Kagey · 22/09/2010 13:39

Purplefan big hugs for you, it cannot have been easy deciding what was best to do for your little one.

Re: NCT, I did this and got one of the last slots when I enquired at about 14 weeks. The info given was not much more that I got from pregnancy books but the people were lovely and the teacher was very open about all birth options and she had had a CS herself. The breastfeeding lady was a bit annoying though. Price is a bit steep though. Half our class had EMCS's and our teacher at the reunion did not judge at all :)

StrangewaysHereICome · 22/09/2010 19:40

Envy at Me23!! Don't laugh too much!!

As for NCT classes, they do vary and the teachers should not judge or make anyone feel inadequate. They should inform and enable people to make their own informed decisions. Unfortunately there are some "old school" teachers out there who may push their own views which I think is very sad. Things are changing though. The prices are steep but in my view do surpass any antenatal classes provided by the NHS. If you are low income you can apply for reduced rates.

As for me I am ticking along, looking huge and getting lots of kicks. A friend saw me today and said - you're carrying a boy. Not sure how she worked that out! As we have two dd's I would quite like a boy but I am not really bothered either way. We are not going to find out the sex at the scan (she says!) so it will be a while before we do know!!

chickiewoo · 22/09/2010 20:14

Purplefan - good to hear you have come to a decision - love and best wishes to you and your family for the rest of your pregnancy.

I had my nuchal scan and Downs screening blood test on Monday (plus another scan in the EPU before this as I'm still bleeding!). I was told that I would be telephoned by teatime today if I was 'high risk' - haven't heard anything so am hoping I'm low risk. Still have nausea and vomiting most days - am now wearing seabands - not sure if they are working, but am too scared to take them off (except for when I have a shower!)

jammiedodger2 · 22/09/2010 21:55

Purplefan, thinking of you and yours.

Also seen at the epu today as more bleeding, although I'm far too pregnant to be seen there! little one wriggled through the whole scan so all looks ok.

Work much the same, only got sworn at twice on tuesday (a daddy who persists in believing i am their social worker and therefore the route of all evil). Pretending not to notice my staff nurse's little comments until I am less hormonal.

Oh and DH bought some more eggs!

Still knackered tho but day off tomorrow.

Take care ladies!
jx

gem3225 · 23/09/2010 10:42

anyone worried?
am slightly freeking out as im hardly showing and everyone saying i dont look pregnent, my next app isnt until 7 october. Im 16 weeks yesturday.

Any advice
x

Muser · 23/09/2010 10:46

It's really normal not to be showing at 16 weeks. My SIL didn't show for ages, she was very slim so you would have thought she'd pop immediately. But because she was also pretty fit she had good stomach muscles that kept it all in.

I think a lot depends on where the baby is sitting as well. Sometimes they're just laying in such a way that it doesn't show for ages. That's why you get all those teenagers not knowing their pregnant for months!

Muser · 23/09/2010 10:47

One more thing. It really can change during the day as well. Some mornings I will not look pregnant at all, but by the evening I'm massive. I think that for lots of us who show early it's not actually the baby showing, it's our stomach moving up and bloating out when we eat! I definitely look more pregnant after some food. Grin

gem3225 · 23/09/2010 10:48

yes i know ur right, thanks i think im just over reacting abit. I would know i guess if something was wrong, and ive had no signs. Thanks for that x

gem3225 · 23/09/2010 10:48

me too xx

Oceanbreeze · 23/09/2010 11:11

Hugs to Purplefan. I completely agree with everyone who has expressed admiration for you.

Welcome back Muser. Hope you had a lovely time.

Welcome geisha (and anyone else I may have missed Confused)

me23 how was Dara o'Briain? Not seen him live, but love him on the tv Smile

jammiedodger2 Hugs for you too. I'm knackered most of the time, even though I'm not doing very much at the moment - makes me feel guilty when I see how busy the rest of you ladies are - I'm putting it down to my, er, age. (Also every time I read your name I want to gorge on biscuits Grin)

gem3225 I'm impatiently waiting for my proper baby bump to show up...at the moment I just look like I've eaten all the pies. And then made some more to chomp on. Not sure if thats any help or not.

I've already booked NCT classes as I read somewhere they get booked up fast. No idea it that is true, but as I know very few people locally, and absolutely no one in my area with kids, I didn't want to risk it. Its expensive, but I figured it was worth it.

1Catherine1 · 23/09/2010 11:11

Don't worry Gem. Take a look in the pregnancy forum. We'll soon be feeling all exhausted from carrying around extra weight and finding it difficult to get comfortable each evening. I'm just enjoying it while it lasts.

My mother was 7 months gone with her second son when she started to show and he was born a whole 4 weeks early. Apparently he was still born nice and healthy. I'll be quite happy if I get to 7 months and am still not showing with a healthy baby!

Larty74 · 23/09/2010 11:38

Hi everyone, been a few days since I've been on so just catching up.

3 cheers for Purple! I really admire you and your family. Smile

I too am at the enquiry stage of NCT classes. Anybody know what happens if you know you are going to be away for the first two classes? really makes me question its worth. I've also requested info on an earlier class for those due in Jan/Feb, but is much more local, and I think I'd prefer that as my DD is 4th March. So what's best? locality or matching up timings?? what to do!

Larty74 · 23/09/2010 11:43

p.s. Purple glad to hear you are being looked after so well at Oxford. Have only been in the area for a few years, but have chosen there for my delivery and have only heard good about all things maternity! Take care! Smile

me23 · 23/09/2010 12:04

Dara O'Briain was great last night laughed all the way through.

gem don't worry about not showing I didn't show until 25 weeks with my first and I was a size 8 so no idea where she was hiding!
