Calling The Viroids - Just Shagging Graduates!

Just thought I'd start a thread for all those JS graduates, whether a newbie graduate or even if you left us a while ago and are well on your way. Would be good for us to keep in touch, see if we're all staying 'sane'. Grin

Don't know about you ladies, but I am still filled with the overwhelming urge to PIAR (that's POAS for all you older graduates - after you left us we went a little mad and started harnessing the power of the ramekin!) I think once you start the habit it doesn't leave you!

Well, it's good to know that the Just Shagging method works. Even if we did once in a while just cheat a teeny tiny little bit! Wink

nickelbabyhatcher · 05/04/2011 15:55

I was we were given a box of Roses by DH's sister to say congrats on the pg. surprisingly, still got quite a few left! Grin
am keeping them for when I feel queasy (works quite well!)
DH is only allowed the strawberry, orange and dark chocolate ones cos I don't like them.

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 05/04/2011 18:06

There is now only one little lindt rabbit in our fridge looking all alone. At the start of the afternoon he had 4 friends Blush To be fair DH was allowed one and a half. This is what happens when I put off the grocery shop for as long as possible (and dream about buying junk food and vodka to fulfill pg cravings - how I wish that part was more than just a dream)

Loving the random crazy pregnancy dreams.

Nickel I've come across a few people saying that they go off tea and coffee when pg. I'm the opposite and find myself wanting to drink tea (normally can't stand the stuff). DH always say's I'm mean and depriving the LO when I refuse to give in. Grin

takethatlady · 05/04/2011 18:25

coaaf I'm drinking 2-3 cups of (weakish) tea a day. It's within the safe limit for caffeine, though I did give it up while ttc and for the first three months.

I suppose it's not within the safe limit if you eat four Lindt bunnies a day though Grin

I just lost a student's coursework. I put it in the recycling by mistake and it's gone now Blush. I have also given my groups an extra day to submit than all the other groups, by mistaking the rubric Blush. If I'm not careful I'm going to get the sack ...

My mum is coming up tonight because I have a 28 week scan tomorrow and she's coming with me. I'm pleased she's coming, but not pleased I have to clean the house and not pleased that after years and years of me working at unis she still seems to think that I only work during term time. Students get 5 months off! As if I would get all that time too! So she now thinks I'm totally free to go shopping for baby things, when I actually have 50 essays to mark by next week, 70 PhD applications to read and rank by Friday, and a conference paper to write for Saturday.

Shopping for baby things it is Grin

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 05/04/2011 18:32

The bunnies are tiny, only about 3cms tall and I only ate 2 and a half of them. Of course I will now have to replace them (they're meant to be for easter) and will not be held responsible for how much chocolate I actually replace them with Grin

Oh bugger at recycling a student's course work!

vallinnapod · 05/04/2011 20:12

Ladies with babies - Mothercare sizes...do you go for 0-3 or Newborn?

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 05/04/2011 20:57

I'm going more for 0-3 months, but only because DS out grew his Newborn clothes by 6 days old and I'm assuming Currant Bun will be similar. I am making sure Currant Bun has NB clothes for coming home in though.

vallinnapod · 05/04/2011 21:44

Thanks COAAF - I assumed Baby Pod could rock the baggy look for a couple of weeks in the 0-3 if he was small, however with my eating habits I am doubting small will be uttered by any midwife....

I am not buying clothes, merely creating a nice (although shockingly expensive) basket on mothercare.com of all the 'essentials'!

nickelbabyhatcher · 06/04/2011 10:18

shit ttl what are you going to do abotu the coursework?
Shock

BrassicaBabe · 06/04/2011 13:35

24 week scan and clinic for me today. One twin is measuring a little small so they want to scan me again in a fortnight rather than the 4 week one booked. (Although I think they will want me to keep that appointment too.) I don't think it's too much to worry about yet though.

Also I was able to get the consultant to agree to my request for an ELCS. (I know this isn't everyone's choice. Maybe I am just too posh Wink) It wasn't his first choice, but I helped him bend to my will! Grin So I am most pleased about this.

ttl could you not assign random A-F letters to the coursework and be done with it?! Grin

nickelbabyhatcher · 06/04/2011 14:52

Okay, two ladies have been in buying a potty training book.
The boy was dropping his crisps on the floor, and she was apologising for it, and I said "oh don't worry, I expect a bit of mess" (disclaimer - that's accidental mess - i don't want any of you deliberately bringing in your DCs to throw stuff on my floor Hmm )
anyway, I offered to throw it in the bin for her.
she handed me a packet of the remains. they were :Bear
half a pack of them.
:( i want to eat them! but she assures me they all went on the floor, aso I can't .
but i want them! they look fine! BearBear

vallinnapod · 06/04/2011 15:29

20 second rule nickel?! As long as there is no visible hair/fluff/whatever.... God lord, how is Baby Pod surviving with my levels of hygiene?!

Glad you saw your bubseses again Brassica - am I right in thinking they are not identical?? I think there is greater worry about slower growth in one twin when the share a placenta [knows bugger all emoticon]. I bet if you measured all our babies on the same day on this thread there would be a wide range of sizes! Glad you got your birth request too! I thought it was the 'norm' for twins to be whipped out of the side door!

Pretty sure had quite a bit of movement today in a very boring meeting - kept smiling at my tummy! Now I am just crampy again so he is definitely stretching his accommodation to fit! If only we could do the same :( Lots of people viewing our flat. I keep wanting to yell "Bugger off, I don't want to move!" (Small one bed so kinda have to!)

nickelbabyhatcher · 06/04/2011 15:32

that's what i was thinking.
don't worry, my bin is a box, and the Bear packet is on the top, awaiting my scrutiny later. Wink

germs are a good thing - I never get ill, because i am a dirty slattern.

takethatlady · 06/04/2011 17:35

Loving the general dirtiness round here. Makes me feel at home Grin

I found out which student it was and confessed all and she sent another copy. She didn't mind at all, thank goodness, though it won't be anonymously marked now. Luckily she's a good student so hopefully she'll get a really good mark and will be happy.

28 week scan was lovely :) My mum was chuffed to see the baby, and we got amazing pics. Glad your scan went okay bb - a lady with twins on the June thread had similar extra scans (there were some slightly graver concerns about one of her twins) but all turned out fine. I'm sure they just take lots of extra precautions :)

Been out all afternoon eating, drinking and sitting on the riverbank, so feeling nicely de-stressed now. Hope all you ladies are well.

cowboylover · 06/04/2011 22:48

Nickel My DH is only allowed the nutty ones, I totally went off chocolate for ages but now sitting here munching my way through some Matchmakers!

I love that we are such a normal group of mums/mums to be! What are my chances ouf finding a baby/toddlers group out there of normal people? The only thing I have come across is crazy competitive parenting people ect

Midwife and Antenatal classes tomorrow which I am looking forward to so I will catch up on Friday x

SnapFrakkleAndPop · 07/04/2011 12:07

Clearly I don't fit in here... I'm a bit of a germophobe when it comes to food (although actually I think that might be sparked by working with small babies and bottles and being uber-uber-careful because I know someone whose baby got very ill and nearly died :()

Brassica extra scans are there just to keep an eye. I've had extra scans and I've only got the one! Besides twins do grow at different rates, otherwise all ID twins would be exactly the same weight at birth and that just doesn't happen!

Glad your student was understandingttl. Anonymous marking is a huge myth IMO anyway. You do get to know certain students' styles and the way their brains work, plus if they've asked you a question it's a dead giveaway!

I just sliced my finger open with a breadknife. Fking hurts. I am such a wuss and I will never ever cope with labour! Envying you the ELCS, brassica, although I was offered one. Wonder if it's too late to change my mind? Although the incision afterwards probably hurts worse than a nick with a breaknife.

nickelbabyhatcher · 07/04/2011 12:19

I am kind of worrying what the midwife will think of our house when she comes to look...
It's full of junk, because neither of us has time to clear it up, and it's also covered in cat hair (we hoover the floor, but the cats' chairs don't get hoovered very often)

It makes the house look generally dirty , but it's not.

Oh god, i'm going to have to blitz the house, aren't i?
i can't cope with having to go into hospital.

nickelbabyhatcher · 07/04/2011 12:19

:( to your bloody finger Frak.

frakyouveryverymuch · 07/04/2011 14:15

nickel you'll probably want to blitz it before the baby comes anyway. Just wait until the second trimester when you (theoretically) have more energy.

I'm currently looking at my sofa cushion covers and pondering washing them. But I'm going to MN and suck sherbert lemons instead. My lovely mummy posted me a huge bagful of proper olde sweete shoppe ones Grin

nickelbabyhatcher · 07/04/2011 14:36

I'm going to wait until my nesting instinct kicks in.
(or until DH has a holiday and does it all for me Grin )

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 07/04/2011 14:48

It's really hard to concentrate and read when you keep hearing the word poo ebing announced from a metre away. Ah Ceebeebies, the joy (Aunite Mavis has taken Pippin to see how sewers work).

I had the strangest dream 2 nights ago. My stomach turned see through and I was looking (I hust heard her say, Oh look the pretend poo) at my Currant Bun! It did a forward roll and it was a boy! So I was saying to DH come and look at our little boy and promising to find bump a boy bump name. Months and months ago I dreamt bump was a girl, so I'm still clueless.

I'm using the we're moving out next week, so I might as well wait a few more days, excuse for putting off vacuuming my flat. Really I'm just lazy and want am going to go and have a nap.

BrassicaBabe · 08/04/2011 09:27

Morning all.

Beautiful day! Still pregnant here Hmm How are you lot doing about sleeping? It's bugging me that i can't sleep on my back. Sleeping on my side is giving me sore hips.

Oh, and I am now 2 stone heavier than when I got married nearly a year ago.

cowboylover · 08/04/2011 10:15

coaf Pregnancy dreams are crazy!
Before we had the scan we where both convinced it was a boy for no perticular reason and even come up with boys names. The night before my 20 week scan I had a dream that I was in Crete on the beach by my (late) dads house and he came down the steps carrying a really cutie moonfaced baby in Minnie Mouse swim suit with a frill around the waist saying "you forgot someone at home and she wants her Mummy" and we then found out we where having a girl! It was such a vivid dream it could have been real so I am now looking out for the perfect swimsuit for her!

Brassica I have found sleeping a nightmare! Just cant get comfy in any position. Best has been a on my back but with loads of pillows under my head so nearly in a sitting position.

MW yesterday went well and baby is on the bigger side but she is not concerned as apparently only smaller makes her worry. Head not engaged yet but plenty of time.

Ante-natal was good last night, covered the basics of the different stages of labour and the hospital midwives pitched it really well more to the birth partners as most of the Mums to be knew it so DH really enjoyed it and got a lot of out it asking some questions and how did I feel about...? Ect

Feel like im under house arrest today as washing machine is coming and got a 11 hour time window for delivery and I have just ran out of milk Its not like I had plans to go anywhere but still the fact I cant is bugging me!

vallinnapod · 08/04/2011 10:22

LOL Cowboy - I always want to leave the house when I know I can't - and wish I had no plans on the days I do!! Glad the midwife check was all good.

I still have AGES until my 20 week scan (4th May) - I don't understand why I was purposefully booked in at 22 weeks though? Seems odd. Guess it's just bigger baby so easier to see everything? Can't believe I am 18+6. The first 12-15 weeks were the longest of my whole life and now time is zooming. I still just look full rather than preggers!

Sleep-wise I am still able to sleep twisted - so bottom half is on my front and top half is too the side. Still not much to squish! Was contemplating the dream genie pillow as it looks like you can twist round it even when fully bumped up. I think it may just annoy me though - any users??

Love, love, loving the sunshine! BBQ tomorrow and a film on Sunday for us this weekend!

takethatlady · 08/04/2011 10:42

Oh no cowboy. I would chance it. I can't cope if I can't have a cup of tea. At least you're not hungover, too - that's always the worst :)

Glad you're still pregnant bb Grin I feel like I am going to be pregnant forever. There is no baby. It's just chocolate.

I am sleeping really well at the moment for the first time in my pregnancy, though this also involves sleeping in the car (not while driving!), sleeping on the living room floor in the middle of the day, and sleeping at my desk. There just aren't enough hours for sleep!

Got to pull an all nighter tonight as I have seriously cocked up on the work front. Whoops.

frakyouveryverymuch · 08/04/2011 11:15

I had mine at 23 weeks vallinna (and baby was still an uncooperative little sod) - they said it's because at 20 weeks there's still a chance that some of the stuff they need to see might not be visible (heart etc.) and doing them later reduces the incidence of needing to do a second scan.

Bugger on the all nighter ttl what did you do, or I suspect, not do? I hoped your troubles were over with the student coursework recycling fiasco sorted.

cowboy do you have a nice neighbour you could persuade to go to the shop for you?

I am not sleeping well at all, no matter what I try to do with pillows/nursing cushions etc. After a few hours of lying down my back and hips just hurt too much :( Come on, baby! Out you come!
