Just thought I'd start a thread for all those JS graduates, whether a newbie graduate or even if you left us a while ago and are well on your way. Would be good for us to keep in touch, see if we're all staying 'sane'. Grin

Don't know about you ladies, but I am still filled with the overwhelming urge to PIAR (that's POAS for all you older graduates - after you left us we went a little mad and started harnessing the power of the ramekin!) I think once you start the habit it doesn't leave you!

Well, it's good to know that the Just Shagging method works. Even if we did once in a while just cheat a teeny tiny little bit! Wink

Arrgh stupid slow net connection just ate my bog long post.

Something about thanks for the suport. I've stopped crying and my family are still okay.
Congrats to Vannilla on the good scan Grin (and mangos are cheap, abundant and locally grown in Australia!)

And some other stuff too.

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 24/02/2011 13:52

bog long post? that should read big long post.

Dynababy · 24/02/2011 14:38

Afternoon y'all.

I have to say i'm rather taken with the idea of a lovely eternity ring, esp since when you'll look at it you'll think of lovely DC.. aaahhh ... I love jewellery though, I am a silversmith in spare time and love design. Doubt DH will get me one straight away though money will be much tighter whilst i'm on mat leave ..maybe when I go back to work though..I'll be sure to introduce him to the work of some particular local bespoke Jewellers!

I can't wait for pram shopping, think it is trad for parents of the mother to get pram. My ,mum is being so generous and giving us £1000 for pram and other bits, think that'll cover pram and car seat and maybe moses basket etc depending which one we go for. Rather liking the look of the i-candy peach which doesn't come cheap esp if you get newborn carrycot, I also like the silver cross surf though which is a lot cheaper.. Will have to go and try em out. Can't wait!

20 weeks scan next week .. if everything is looking good will start the shoping shortly after, not sure that i want too much stuff in the house though, do most shops store things for you? I think JL do but not sure.. hmmm. Its old trad too isn't it, no pram in the house before the birth as it unlucky .. is anyone sticking with that superstition?

Off work today, just took a couple of days off as off for the weekend tom and wanted to get stuff sorted today, so far had a plumber round, got a free dental check due to being preg and now getting boiler checked, all necessary but boring stuff! Hey ho! Hope your all having a good day Grin

Dynababy · 24/02/2011 14:55

Oh MY, nearly forgot Valinna went to cornor shop post dentist and got my first packet of transformer snack!! They were LUSH Grin Great snack tip!

vallinnapod · 24/02/2011 16:23

LOL Dyna I feel like a crack dealer now Grin

PS - not heard the bad luck about the pram! ARGH, hate superstious things as I always 'believe' them (was suicidal a couple of weeks ago when not only did a black cat cross my path but it sort of weaved in front of me and wouldn't bugger off - cursing me good and proper Wink) That said, we have had a flat pack cotbed in our living room since 8 weeks...(it was in the M&P sale...)

SnapFrakkleAndPop · 24/02/2011 16:33

Dyna I refuse to have the pram in the house. I told DH if it came to it he'd have to store it at work. I don't mind the carrycot bit but I will not have the wheels across the threshold!

I'm not normally superstitious. Honest.

If this is a boy I get a diamond ring Grin, not sure about a girl but I'm angling for a pink sapphire. Or maybe a string of pearls?! But son and heir nets me the sparklies apparently, which I'm fine with

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 24/02/2011 17:03

I just want a wedding ring of my own I wear my Grandma's, but it's really a bit small for me. still I'm happy spending a fortune on immigration costs and stay with my family instead Grin

Never heard any of these superstitions. We paid for our first pushchair ourselves and had it in the house with two or three months left. I think some of these old superstitions come from the days when death in child birth was still very common, perhaps?

Why can't I decide on a flippin pushchair? I had no trouble chosing our current one, now I have no ruddy idea. Oh to be able to afford a swish thing like an I-candy!

Dynababy · 24/02/2011 18:17

NMCB I think your right that the superstition thing started when medical care wasn't what it is today.... but like Frak I'm not sure I can go against it just in case, even though my logical mind tells me in reality having the pram in the house or not will make no difference to outcome. Mwwwaaahaha at Vallina in maternity trench peddling transformer snacks .. I'd be drawn right in!! Grin

vallinnapod · 24/02/2011 18:41

Tee hee, I am not actually pregnant. The 'bump' is Transformer Snacks that I am hiding from the powers that be Grin

cowboylover · 24/02/2011 20:38

Eks: I have not heard of it as a tradition as such but thinking of it I know a few mates there Mums ought them the pram.

My aunts and work friends have had some lovely sparkly things and expensive watches ect for having the baby prezzies from DH ect and I have tried to subtly mention it to DH and he thought it was a 'tacky' idea so I not holding out much hope! I dont ever want to turn down a diamond Grin

I have been the same Vannilapod: Not that gifts are not lush and I am so grateful but I am fussy and I cant hide or help it if I dont like it so thats why my Mum is buying us the pram because she will put what I ask for Blush Dont mean to sound like a diva!

Dyna: Our local independant shops do and lots offer a pay a deposit to secure it then balance on collection which has been really useful as like you said you dont want it all around the house.

I found it really hard picking the pushchair and was going to get the iCandy Apple but then saw a Norton Storm and prefered that especially lighter and will enjoy spending all the extra money I have saved Grin

My last day in work is going to be 1st April and I have been planning for my leaving speach that its alla lie and I am not really pregnant but eating all the snacks!

takethatlady · 24/02/2011 20:51

Am utterly converted on the baby bling now. Though on our current budget, I reckon a packet of Transformers will do (if vallinna can cut us a deal Wink)

BrassicaBabe · 25/02/2011 09:07

Morning all

I'm with you guys on the baby bling. There's a bracelet that I've had my eye on that is too pricey for usual Christmas/Birthday pressies which I'm hoping might come my way after producing 2 children at the same time! Grin DH knows about it as we spotted it together...We live in hope! (We'd get slaughtered for this kind of chat on the open forum Grin LOL)

Oooooh, and people buying presents that might last for ages that I don't like Blush cowboy and vallinna I'm pushing people in the direction of things I don't much care about, or things I don't have to look at for too long. I'm not letting anyone near things like high-chairs, prams and any item for the living room!

I like the iCandy pushchair, but I'm not too keen on the twins version (thankfully!!). Currently looking at the Mountain Buggy.

Off to find some my local pregnancy snack dealer.....Grin

vallinnapod · 25/02/2011 10:16

Roll up, roll up! 4 bags of Transformer Snacks for 90p! Save 10p on RRP Grin

vallinnapod · 25/02/2011 10:17

Oops did a rather large ASOS mat clothes shop Blush Not really at mat clothes stage but def not in my normal ones either! Also purchased a Carriwell trouser extender from Amazon...for after all the Transformer Snacks Wink

vallinnapod · 25/02/2011 10:24

Oh god, just bought two more things....

SnapFrakkleAndPop · 25/02/2011 11:17

Dangerous, this shopping lark isn't it?

I'm down to prosaic things like a changing mat...

vallinnapod · 25/02/2011 12:51

Totally - I am not looking forward to the day I start feeling confident enough to buy baby things! I will single handedly (well, my mum will be pretty bad too!) help improve the economy!

takethatlady · 25/02/2011 12:53

You definitely deserve double-presents bb :)

Pass the Transformers over here ... I'll give you top whack. I've bloody got morning sickness again after about 10 weeks of relief, and some pickly crisps feels like all I'll be able to keep down at the moment.

It's payday on Monday vallinna and I've got an ASOS shopping basket all lined up ready to go. What did you buy? I have seen a green dress on there I might buy for the wedding I'm going to, plus a white shirt, some leggings (and an amazing pair of heels to go with them - not stricly maternity wear, but oh well), and I'm trying to resist the skinny jeans and the work dress I want as well ...

cowboylover · 25/02/2011 15:58

I love pay day! I have been trying to divert myself from the constant shopping online and looking at some maybe useful stuff like a birth plan ect and options ect so just as time consuming but cheaper x

Happy Friday everyone x

vallinnapod · 25/02/2011 16:07

Oh TTL, what didn't I buy Wink?

2 soft touch vests - one black, one white
Leggings
Black wrap dress
Black Rauched work-type top
mama·licious Stripe Long Sleeve Dress
3/4 sleeve white shirt
French Connection Drap sided dress
Denim shorts (for my holiday Grin

The mama.licious dress and shirt were today's additions!

Ordered size 10, but even pre-preg I was 10-12 in tops so it may all have to be exchaged Grin Oh, did I mention it is all free next day delivery?!

Am up in Hampstead which is marternity shop city tomorrow so am on the hunt for some tops for work!

Oh, booked a private scan at 17+5 to find out the gender (and just peak in general as 22 weeks is a lifetime away!)

takethatlady · 25/02/2011 16:13

Oooh vallinna I've seen a nice French Connection dress on there - there's a short-sleeved black one and a longer-sleeved purple one (they're both quite similar) but they're £85 and £80 each so I really really can't .... I really really can't ... I'm going for the same shirt as you though!

I seriously don't have the money for any of this but I also can't walk around naked, which is basically the only other option I'm going to have if I don't buy some new clothes soon. I have no trousers that fit and only 3 dresses left that I can do up. So I reckon there's no chance of making it to next payday without some sort of indecent exposure if I don't sort it out!

Plus Asos is bloody amazing compared to all the other maternity shite in the shops, and I think I may have gone a bit nuts when I saw it Grin

Glad you're purchasing too! And exciting about the scan :) It's going to be one glamorous baby, whatever the sex Wink

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 25/02/2011 16:31

all this shop talk. I'm like you TTL in being on the verge of naked. And now it appears I'm about to burst out of my mat bras! We have no spare money at the mo though so will just have to make do some how.

vallinnapod · 25/02/2011 16:52

This FC one was £22 (down from £60) in the sale section!

I am having a real issue with undies...bra-wise I have two bras I can fit in (well, 4 as I have two of each style!!) but I am rapidly outgrowing. Knicker-wise I am bulging out of most of them (out the back and side disturbingly rather than the front!!) I have a bit of an issue in that for as long as I can remember I have always worn matching bra and pants. I have just about weaned myself to accepting as long as they are the same colour it is OK. I really can't go out and just by set underwear as I can imagine I am going to go up several sizes between now and Sept. NMCB and others who have done this before, did you find there were several stages to boob growth??!

Can I also point I feel I have come across as a REAL princess Blush, I am not, honest!

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 25/02/2011 17:06

I was totally a bit naieve first time round and didn't get proper maternity bras until third trimester (got bigger normal ones first off). Had to get feeding bras a few days after DS was born as my boobs were HUGE once the milk came in! Thoght i'd be okay this time as I bought the size I was when bfeeding last time, but I guess I'm bigger in general now so will be bigger again by the end of this on (epp).

Are you looking at FCUK standard clothes or do they have a maternity section I'm missing?

vallinnapod · 25/02/2011 21:52

FCUK have no maternity section on their website but ASOS stock FCUK Maternity wear...odd huh??

Gonna see if I can last another month on these bras and then, I dunno? Get some with some growing room?
