Baby mosschops finally arrives in dramatic style!

Im torn between typing a big dramatic birth announcement and just letting you know he's finally here.

As you know i went into hospital last monday, was induced monday eve with no results. Then induced again on wednesday with no result.
After waiting and waiting for a bed so they could do ARM we were finally transferred to delivery suite on thursday afternoon.
ARM was tried by mw, then senior mw and then finally achieved at 4pm by doctor.
Contractions started within an hour or so, and lots of drama ensued - baby's heart rate kept dropping, emergency buzzer was pulled several times and the room filled up with people.
I was dilating well up to 5cm, and then nothing, baby was facing in a funny direction, i was in a lot of pain, and was fairly terrified most of the time.

Not going to go into any more detail but definately feel at some point i will need to talk to someone about it

Noah James was born at 3.22am by emergency section. He weighed 8lbs 6oz, and is perfect

I came home the following day and am still in terrible pain, think it may be an infection in my uterus. Its just good to be home!
DH is being amazing, i am getting great help with bf and am expressing at the moment.

Thanks to everyone who's offered me support over the last few months

Congratulations mosschops and welcome Noah! You certainly had a week of it last week - I think you must have covered most approaches to birth. Glad to hear that he's here safely, sorry you had what sounds like a dramatic and frightening time of it.

Lots of healing vibes being sent your way post-cs, as well as a snuggle for your baby.

Lulumama · 30/11/2009 17:48

the way it should work is that everyone who has an emergency c.s should be debriefed on the ward as to why they had the section. it can be something as simple as baby being malpositioned or a whole catalogue of things leading up to it, ask your MW when she comes to see you about birth afterthoughts/debriefing service. if you want to drop me a line, feel free to CAT me or mail me at mail @ motheringinstincts. com when you are ready

LaDiDaDi · 30/11/2009 17:49

Congratulations on the arrival of Noah James.

Sorry that things did not go to plan but hope that you have a speedy recovery.
