Naetha's DD arrives

Just thought I'd pop in to say that Keira Seren was born at 12:27am on saturday morning weighing 7lbs 6oz after a slightly lengthy induction due to SPD!

Sorry if it's a bit graphic below, I just want to get it all written down before I forget!!

I was meant to be induced on the Wednesday morning, but due to overcrowding and a load of MWs calling in sick, I didn't get seen until Thursday afternoon.

The induction was OK, although took ages to get going, but this was because she had the cord around her neck and couldn't drop down - I had 24 hours with a pessary, which gave me nasty, but unproductive contractions, then they broke my waters to get things moving. I asked for, and got pethidine at that point which made everything so much easier - the contractions still hurt loads, but the background pain was muted, and I was actually able to move around and be lucid for the first time in hours. I'd used TENS up to that point and actually found it pretty good for the first contractions, but when they got hardcore, it didn't really make that much of a difference.

Once my waters had been broken, I was taken to a delivery room and given access to G&A. I moved around a bit, changed position etc and was re-examined 2 hours after waters going. Unfortunately, I was still only 3cm dilated, so was put on a syntocinon drip. I'd decided in advance that if it got to that stage, I'd opt for an epidural, and thankfully they got that going before getting the drip going! Even with the drip, not much happened and another 2 hours after that I was still 3cm - things weren't looking good, and it looked like a c-sec might be on the cards as the baby's was showing signs of distress. Then all of a sudden, I felt like something was trying to come out, was re-examined, and fully dilated - 3cm to full in about 20 minutes! After another hour of my body doing it's thing (while I dozed!) MW decided to start pushing, and after 3 solid contractions, she was born

It was all a bit sudden in the end, so unfortunately I had a lovely 2nd degree tear from top to bottom (had to have my clitoris stitched up ), but other than that, it was perfectly reasonable.

DD breastfed for 20 minutes straight away, and we were discharged at 2pm the next day

SPD still pretty bad, but hopefully will get better as everything tightens up again.
