Tab's new arrival ... hurray, at last

Just to let you all know that ds2 arrived yesterday (27th) at 3.15pm after fairly long homebirth. Beautiful needless to say! and the two midwives were absolutely brilliant and kept me going. One ofthem was the midwife who I have seen all the way through so that was a real bonus.
Absolutely massive - 10lb 14oz and Im still in shock. he doesnt fit into the first size nappies nor the normal "up to 10.5lb" clothes!! Lucky that I had all ds1's stuff from first time round!
Good luck to everyone else particularly those still waiting for may babies and the June ones who are no doubt queuing up!! Its hard work but undescibable joy when you hold that little bundle.

Thanks for all the congrats. Have hardly slept at all. Just on adrenalin high I think and also Im hungry all the time and still in shock. Stitches are sore but he's worth it. Hes absolutely beautiful and its wonderful to cuddle him - however big he still seems tiny compared to ds1 (2yrs 10 mths). I think I will think very carefully about a 3rd though. Midwives were joking that successive babies after your first generally are bigger. I dont think they can get much bigger can they? he was only 3 days late. No name yet but Maximus Gigantus is being considered!!!!

My first baby was 7lb 15oz so 3lb bigger is quite a shock. He seems very keen on sleeping at the moment.

Tab I can't believe you beat me from the May thread in the weight category !! Freya Isabella was 9lb 4oz but 10lb 14oz is even more eye watering ! I agree with you, the struggle to push baby out etc is all worth it in the end although like you said about the weight of 2nd, 3rd etc babies tend to be bigger it may be a while till we have baby 2 as I need to prepare myself for the fact that our 2nd may be bigger than 9lb 4oz........and dh & I wanted 5 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks again for all the congrats! Shhh - I had absolutely no intention of beating you!!! I think I might have had the biggest for May though although I think we're still waiting for a couple! Still cannot believe how huge he was.
Frizbe, no unfortunately I didnt have any drugs as it was a homebirth although believe you me I exhausted the 2 midwives supply of gas and air and one of them had to go back to the hosp and get an extra cylinder. If I had known, I honestly would have thought twice about home birth and I think the midwives would agree. they were in shock also!!

Tab, yeah there is about 5 left on the may thread although the end must be close !! Here's hoping you have won in the weight category
