Well after ttc for 4 years here is my birth story.

My waters started trickling at 5am on sat 4th 6 days before my due date. I was a bit unsure whether it was my waters or if my pelvic floor muscles had given up. So after calling mw and sorting out sitter for ds me and dh went off to hospital.

Mild cramps started around 11am then off and on all afternoon, very managable.

At around 12 midnight dh went as not much had happened. Mw said they could only leave me until 5am next morning as that would have been 24hours after waters going, then they would have to put me on a drip to speed things up.

At about 1.20am bigger contractions suddenly started but i was just managing, mw examined me to find i was only 3cm but i kept thinking i would end up with c-section and i was starting to get disheartened.

Mw was fab she could see i was worried and said she would move me round to delivery and call dh back. She helped me remain positive that i might still get a vbac.

Next mw i met ran me a loverly lavender bath to help me relax but after just 10mins in bath a contaction hit me like a truck and i thought omg here we go. I was shouting get me out of this bath iwant g&a. At this point dh walked in to find me naked driping in bath water on a bath mat shouting i can't do it.

Staff were really great and patient with me. And i pleaded with them for pethidine which took edge off pain but by this time i had been awake nearly 20 hours so the stamina had gone. I then begged for an epidural so i could try and closed my eyes. I still was only a few centimetres.

At 8am the mw said we would have to talk about what was going to happen next so i thought no theatre. but she said i will just check you. She then was surprised to find i was fully dialated so we waited 1 hour for baby to decsend a bit more and i then sarted pushing. After hour of pushing mw said they was a problem so agian ithought i would be off for a section but doc examined me and decided forceps might work. At this point i was almost delirious with lack of sleep I shouted to dh that we needed more milk because ours was out of date I don't know what was going through my mind.

After a few tugs out popped my daughter with her hand at the side of her head which is why she wouldn't come out. I can't describe the feeling when they put her on my chest. It was fantastic especially after and emergency section with a general anithsetic with ds.

So Isla Lilian 7lb 10oz arrived 5 days early on 5th april
