Well for the first time I was overdue.
I thought I would be induced last Monday due to my GD, but the midwives were happy to let me go and go and go.
So on Saturday morning around 3:30 am I woke up with terrible reflux. Around 3:50 I felt a contraction. They were not very strong and weren't too close together, but due to my history of fast labors I decided to go to the hospital at 5:30am. We got there at 6am and I was having short painful contractions that were very close together, but was only 3cm and 80% effaced. At 6:30am I was 5cm and at zero station with my waters bulging. No midwife in sight, and the nurse was so afraid to let me walk around because she knew my waters would break and a baby would be born right there. At 6:45am I was 10 cm still no midwife in sight and everyone was freaking out at the lack of midwife and my desire to push that baby out. Judy my midwife walked in and in the most calming voice checked me and said, "Ok, you're ready. I'm going to break your waters and you can push when you're ready".
Finally at 7:08 am:
Alysia Shannon Garcia was born.
She was 8lb 4 oz and 20.5 inches. She's gorgeous feeds well and luckily understands the importance of a good night's sleep only waking up twice for a quick feed.
Her brothers love her, but are disappointed that she can't play trains with them yet.
