Rog here - both great thanks, Ursula got a bit fed up with the nurses and nursey as it was a good 2 hours before she held Harrison but all sorted in the end - its just the way they do things in this region - Have a baby then its the Nannies problem........

Well I hope she's getting plenty of contact and cuddles with her baby now! Skin to skin contact is great for bonding.

mumoverseas home from hospital and has removed the laptop from dadoverseas. Am totally mortified that he has 'outed' me on here. He had strict instructions to post a note on the Fab Feb thread to let the girls know that DS had arrived but in his excitement (bless him) he stumbled across the birth announcements thread instead

Not a very exciting birth story as a planned CS. Probably the most interesting part was when the anaesthatist (sp?) initially said he wouldn't do a spinal and wanted to do a GA as I'd had spinal surgery previously. I pointed out that 2 years ago the nice drugs man had managed a spinal and if he wasn't up to it perhaps he could find the other man who could. He then said DH couldn't be there even though it was agreed with our consultant that he could (he was also present 2 years ago when DD born) Nasty drugs man kept saying that it was hospital policy at which point I started to get off the trolley and said I was going home and wasn't having the CS if my DH wasn't there. Thankfully, our lovely consultant arrived and there followed a rather heated argument in arabic which I couldn't follow but our lovely chap won and DH was present to see the birth of his son. The low point was the stupid rules in Saudi that they take the baby away to the nursery for the first few hours so the first I saw of my gorgeous DS were some photos that DH managed to snap before they whisked him away but I finally managed my cuddles 2 hours later and he was worth waiting for. It was then a constant battle for 3 days to keep Harrison with me as the babies tend to stay in the nursery and only returned to mum when there are visitors but again we won that battle. I don't think the hospital are used to dealing with extremely vocal western women

anyway, we are home, he is gorgeous, DH is in the doghouse and I'm off to think of a namechange having been outed
