NatalieJane finally stopped having to listen to the snorter and had the baby... attempt at details!

Sorry haven't caught up anywhere yet, but wanted to get this down before I forget stuff, and before Mikey wakes up!

So I made my last post on MN, at about 7.10 Saturday night, moaning the snorter had started giggling, and that they hadn't even done the VE yet. 7.15 while bouncing on birth ball I got a big contraction and a big kick, said to DH that it felt exactly like when my waters went with DS2, but I didn't seem to leak anything, so I bounced a bit more, got 3 contractions that took my breath away, DH went to get the MW, she made me lie on the bed to check me, as I stood up water started trickling, so it was them after all.

He was back to back so my back was in agony, but I was still able to talk through them, she checked me and I was 3-4cm normally but 4-5cm with a contraction. I told her I wanted an epidural waiting for me up on delivery (have done the natural labour thing before, didn't want to do it again!), DH packed up our stuff ready to go up to delivery, we got there must have been about 7.45-ish, contractions were starting to get very sore in my back, DH was rubbing my back, and for once I wasn't insisting on being led down on my back, but was up walking around with a mobile monitor thingy on. I asked if the epidural was coming and she looked at me, I knew they hadn't called for it, there wasn't going to be time, I laughed at her face though, I think she thought I might have gone a bit mad at it being refused but I knew even when I first mentioned it I wouldn't get it. I was actually able to talk to the MW's, which is a first for me, I got to make decisions, and not just go along with what they thought best, and I got to tell them I didn't want his cord cutting till it had stopped pulsating, which I had wanted with both previous boys but had never been able to tell them.

Around 8.15 the contractions were taking over completely and I made some noise for the first time, still stood up leaning on the bed through contractions and DH rubbing my back (he went to get my drink at one point, missed the start of a contraction and I very nearly shot through the roof!) 8.23 and I started getting the pushing feeling, but I knew he wasn't over the lip of my cervix yet because I remembered the popping feeling from DS2, so I didn't not push but didn't activly push either, felt the pop, suddenly dawned on me he could fall out on to the hard floor so scrambled up on to the bed and leaned over the bed head, 2 pushes later and he was out.

So Mikey (middle name TBA, and decided on!) Oliver, born at 6lb 9oz, at 8.28pm on Saturday 27th December 2008, happy and healthy

He fed for 2 and a half hours (!!! my poor nipples!), while we decided we could do the 6 hour kick out, would have meant coming home at 3am but I was desperate to just get home, until my temp soared, and Mikey's temp plumeted, so we had to stay in, by 4am both of us were back to normal temps and were told we'd be home by lunch time.

I felt absolutely wonderful all day yesterday really on top of the world type feeling , I've not even a graze or a scratch, a little tiny bit of swelling but it's not even sore or anything, after pains on the other hand are a f^*"%" a bit ouchy and I managed to some how completely dehydrate last night so felt really poorly for a couple of hours, but aside from a slight fever now (which MW has put down to milk starting to come in) and very sore neck/shoulders from hanging off the bed, I am feeling great!

Mikey is doing really well, feeding off to a very good start, he is a tiny little dot, even the smaller nappies we bought are wrapped round him twice, he is the same length as DS2 was but over 2lb lighter so seems teeny tiny! But as I said, he seems to be fine health wise, notes blame IUGR for the growth problems.

Am sure there are more details in my mind somewhere but I can't think of them, and Mikey is starting to wake up a bit I think, so I may be back with more, - if you can handle it?! - and maybe even a pic if DH finds a second.

As always, huge great big thank yous to everyone for all the advice and support, it has been a pretty tough couple of months but so bloody worth it!

Oh it is good having a proper keyboard!
