Well after two micarriages, alot of tears, tantrums and heartbreak I have finally had my baby.
William Dexter was born Wednesday 8th October. 2.54am. 7lb 11oz.
Having convinced my self I was going to delivery early and obsessing about a home birth. I went into labour 2 days late and very quickly!
I first noticed a different from usual pain about 11pm. I got myself into bed as I thought it would probably go away. I had a second pain about 20 mins later and this one was more intense. I waited clock watching for 10 mins when along came another one. This one drove me out of bed and attaching my TENS.
My next pain sent me downstairs and on the phone to hospital. I was told no community midwife for a home birth. I was expecting it so not a big disapointment. They told me to wait until either waters go or pains really close.
I got myself in the shower and straightened my hair! At least I wasnt looking like a scarecrow with my lovely hair do!!
By this point my pains where 2 mins apart and I was getting a real intense pressure in my bottom. I knew what that pressure meant so I very calmly told DH to et the car as we had to go now. He looked at me blankly. So I screamed at him, get the car now or I am going to delivery this baby now on the carpet. Funnily enough he moved quite quickly then.
We got stopped by the police on the way in as DH was going a bit fast! The poor police man took one look at me holding on to the side of the car desparetely trying not to push that he panicked and ran back to his own car and drove away. My hair obviously wasnt as nice as I thought it was!
Once in the delivery suite the midwife barely had time to put on her gloves when my waters broke, all over the floor. There was loads of fresh Meconium in it so I knew I was on a short trip to Csection if baby not quick. I then spent 10 mins clinging to the back of the bed and DH arm, which now has a hand shaped bruise on it, on my knees while my little boy pushed his way into the world.
The cord was around his neck when he crowned but midwife soon sorted that out. One last push and out he came. Nice big cry and there he was. Beautiful. Looks just like his Daddy.
Delivered placenta very quickly with help of synto injection.
All done with just TENS and a bit of head in pillow moaning/groaning.
Time from entry to unit to all finished 40 mins. Not bad.
We had to stay in until Paediatrician happy baby was ok after Meconium incident but all good so legged it out of the hospital at 1.30pm.
I was worried I would struggle to love my baby because of the last two years but I am so very happy that it is all ok. My baby William is beautiful and so good. I love him with all my heart. Even his massive feet.
It doesnt take away the pain of the babies I lost but he is more than worth waiting for.
