I was told by my midwife that my section day would be Monday coming. Everyone got very excited and plans were put in place. She then phoned the next day to say that although she had told me Monday and organised the theatre and ward my consultant would not allow the section before Friday.

I was a wreck, the last few months have not been great, in and out of hospital, getting told a variety of different things. I know it's only 4/5 days of a difference but it seems like it's always just out of my reach.

Having said that maybe a Valentine baby will be nice. Anyone else have a Valentine birthday?

JoPat - poor you. Would've been fine I s'pose if the midwife had already said Friday, and this was planned for, but to think you've got those few extra days to wait...!! How many weeks will you be then? Can't help thinking that every day is one more day that little baby can mature a bit more - and you're right, a Valentines day birthday would be fab - but expensive should he/she ever want a birthday meal out!

GeorginaA · 06/02/2003 19:25

Yes, think how popular his/her friends will think he/she is when all those cards arrive every Valentine's Day, LOL!

aloha · 06/02/2003 20:45

I agree with leese - your baby will be more ready to be born on Friday. Every day helps with their little lungs. Just imagine your baby getting chubbier and healthier inside you day by day and that might help you through. I asked for my section to be delayed partly because I didn't want him born on the 13 (not just because it was unlucky but because it is the birthday of someone I don't want him to share a b/day with) but also because I felt the later the better for his health. He was staggering healthy and plump when he finally emerged so it was definitely worth it - and my extra five days wait was in Kings which was utterly horrible. I think a Valentine's baby sounds just beautiful, anyway. What better symbol of love than a new baby? You could call him/her Valentine or Cherie.... or maybe not

JoPat · 07/02/2003 10:52

Thanks for your encouragement. I agree with aloha that it will be a great symbol of love to have a Valentine baby but not too sure about the names!!!!!

We could start a Valentine baby name list! Juliet might be nice.

Romeo - that's original. Hmmm wonder why no one famous has considered it!

Marina · 07/02/2003 11:49

I quite like Valentine (said with a Maurice Chevalier-type twinkle)...Cara...Beatrice (Dante's great love)...Aimee...hmm, a lot of these are girl's names. Good luck for next Friday, JoPat, agree with all that five extra days will help your little one.

JoPat · 27/02/2003 16:46

Had a little girl. Called her Sarah. Not very 'Valentiney' but we liked it. Everything went really well. Waters broke on the morning of the section, so nicely timed!!!

Congratulations JoPat !!!!

susieblue · 03/03/2003 15:39

Just wanted to leave a message here for jodiesmum plus a couple of others as after having conversations about amnio's and towards the end sweeps to bring on labour cannot find the threads anywhere to relay my news! If any of you pick this up just to let you know that I had a big bouncy baby boy 9lb 10z on 2nd February and have called him Samuel. He is my second son and was a ventouse delivery but all is well. Although 9 days late the sweep worked within 41 hours (apparently works witin 48 hours if it is going to.) Good luck to everyone else.

mollipops · 04/03/2003 05:33

Well done to JoPat and to susieblue too!

Hughsie · 07/03/2003 11:24

Congratulations JoPat and susieblue. It's lovely to hear the news of other safe arrivals - ds2 is now a week old and the birth seems an age ago but still buzzing about my home birth to anyone who'll listen.
