Didn't quite make it to 2003!

Baby Olivia arrived at 0858 on 31st December, nearly 2 weeks early, but weighing a very healthy 8lbs 3oz.

Labour was very positive experience as my midwives were fabulous and I was a lot more aware of what was going on this time round. Bit more "traumatic" this time because of that, but a good experience and the end result is an absolutely gorgeous little girl. Her big sister is thrilled (thank goodness!) and family and friends have been a great help looking after her, as has my marvellous hubby done a fab job looking after us all!

Wow - I'd be very grateful that she wasn't full term if she was 8lbs 3 at 38 weeks!
Congratulations and I love the name

A New year's eve baby! My dh's birthday is 1 Jan so he always starts the new year off a year older!

DS2 was nearly 2 weeks early too and 8lb 4oz. I hope Olivia doesn't stay as chunky as he did...

Congratulations Katmam, my little Holly was also 8lbs 3oz when I had my c-section at 38 + 4 days, no wonder it was so uncomfortable at the end!

Janus · 06/01/2003 15:39

Congratulations katman and welcome Olivia. I hope you have the Olivia books to read when she's a bit older as they are beautiful and so nice to hear their own name.

kirby · 28/04/2003 10:30

congrats everyone, was it as painful as they say? im due in jan im 16 and engaged xx

Rhubarb · 28/04/2003 15:27

Welcome Kirby! No-one can tell you how painful it is going to be as it differs with absolutely everyone! However I would highly recommend you contact the National Childbirth Trust as they run ante-natal classes which are much more thorough and helpful than the NHS ones. They also offer lots of advice on alternative birthing techniques and they run such courses as hypnotherapy, psycho-therapy body orientated techniques (something to do with your state of mind I think!), aromatherapy, etc. Plus the NCT are great for post-natal care, they have breast-feeding counsellors and run coffee groups, etc.
I'm sure you'll be fine though! At least if you have kids this early, you'll still be young enough to relate to them and not to old to enjoy your freedom once they get older!
Good luck!

willow2 · 28/04/2003 20:05

Chil - first off welcome - secondly, that has to be the most eager baby ever - over a year early!!!

kirby · 29/04/2003 09:58
