Hi,

I had a good 1st stage, but waters broke and where green. Went in and was 5cm (with little effort) refused to have labour augmented and was told I had 4 hours to progress and get baby out, at this stage contractions where good and strong, babys heartrate started to dip but they said its not bad so carry on for VBAC. The she said I just need to examine you again, she spent ages and I needed gas and air as was so painful, the she shouted 'prolapse cord' everyone in theatre now. The flipped me on all fours with her hand still up my foofee and rushed me to theatre and knocked me out and then got the baby out. I was still on the monitor at 13.45 and baby was out at 2.00pm. So another failed VBAC. Had 3 days in but recovery has been really good, baby a little jaundiced but had apgar scores of 9, apprently baby made it because of awkward slanting postion on the cervix, but his head was bumping the prolapse on contractions.

anway there you have it.

I have a lovely son, but thats it. NO MORE

Congratulations on the birth of your son, and what an exciting entrance he decided to make

Sorry you didn't get the vbac you wanted, but there was nothing you could have done about the cord.

ButterflyBessie · 08/05/2008 18:31

Gosh Beeper, you sound like you had a traumatic time.

I am so sorry the vbac didn't work for you, I know what it means to want one and not achieve one

Congratulations on the birth of your son, if this is 'another failed vbac' does it mean he is dc?

Enjoy your son knowing that from the sounds of it this was a very necessary section.

I hope that your recovery continues to be really good

Congratulations, you didn't have it easy! Enjoy your son x

congratulations. sounds like a really tough time. nothing you could have done differently at all. you went for it, and it is not your fault or failing on your part. cord prolapse is an obstetric emergency and it sounds like it was dealt with efficently..and thank goodness Baby Beep is ok. enjoy him xxxxx
