Alasdair was born at home at 11.47pm last night weighing in at 8lb 5.5oz.

Waters broke at 4.20pm and contractions started gently but soon picked up. Midwives arrive about 6, put my TENS on and at 8 I was only 2cm but fully effaced. MW had to pull my cervix round as it had nearly disappeared, (which is what I think happened last time, which is why I had such a horrible time of it and an epidural in the end). Contraction were all over the place. Decided not to use gas and air as I think it made me sick last time. Midwive's changed over and new MW said she would check at 12. Contractions every 2 mins for 1 min so she agreed to check at 10. Good thing too as I was 8 cm.... moved into lots of diffeent positions and ended up on my side pushing from about 11.20. DS2 born at 11.47

That's it!!

Can't believe I didn't have drugs. Felt such a whimp I was sure I'd give in, but DH was absolutely bloody fantastic. Followed me from spare room to bathroom and back and lay on bed with me holding my hand and giving mucho encouragement. Couldn't have done it without him.
