The brief version - Ismay Kate was born 8.11 am on 21st March weighing 7lb 9oz

The longer version - waters went on wednesday night, after finally convincing the mw that they had broken i was told to come back friday morning to be induced if nothing had happened by then. started having contractions on the thursday morning which then stopped after a couple of hours. started back up again on the afternoon and at 10 pm when they were 2 mins apart, 45 sec long and hurting like hell i decided to go in. my fabulous mw examined me and i was gutted to find out that the contractions were doing diddly squat!! i was examined 2 hrs later and as there was no change they decided to induce me that night rather then wait till morning. being the complete wuss that i am i decided to have an epidural as i was worried about how bad the synt would make the contractions and being on a bed always make mine worse. epidural was fab and the most painful thing that happened after having it was my wrist where the iv was. everything went fine for a few hours and then the babies heart rate started going up and down all over the place. they examined me and i was 10 cms so decided to do a fetal blood sample before anything else. this was fine so i was given an hour for decent and then told i could push. right on cue my contractions stopped and no turning up of the synt copuld get them back. consultant was woken up and i was whipped off into theatre for a trial of ventouse/forceps and then a c section. fabulous consultant managed to get her out with the ventouse with no damage to either her or myself for which iam eternally grateful. the whole thing was a bit scary and totally different to my last two births. baby Ismay is beautiful and very well behaved. breast feeding hasnt worked out unfortunatly so weve gone on the bottle which shes taken to really well. will stick a picture on my profile at some point when toddlers and washing allow time

Congratulations. What an unusual name is it a variation on Esme?

spugs · 27/03/2008 17:09

yeah apparently it comes from esme, have had a few raised eye brows from certain family members but trying to ignore them
