Suggestions for a baby gift?

Hi! I've been given the job of picking a baby gift for my elderly relative to give to their brand new arrival. They don't like the idea of money or gift tokens (say it's impersonal) and don't want to ask what the parents want because apparently that's not the point of a gift lol.

The couple have a 4y.o DD and have had another baby girl so I feel like they'll have a lot of nice clothes and presumably already own all the vital equipment.

Budget is flexible, I would say £300 max.

What would mums like to get? I thought about a personalised wooden toy box but dunno about space in their home. Been a while since I had tinies, I'm sure there's new stuff coming out all the time but I don't know about any of it😂

Any inspiration gratefully received.

TIA. X

I had my second DS last year. Like the couple in your post, my eldest DS was just shy of 4 when he arrived. We had kept everything so didn't need much.

They weren't a thing when my first was born, so I requested a UV steriliser as didn't enjoy the microwave one I had previously. It's been great! We don't bottle feed but it's come in handy for breast pump parts and toys etc. The other thing I treated myself/baby to was a Mamaroo Rocker. A pricey purchase so definitely a luxury gift!

A lovely children's book and some premium bonds to be honest. If they already have a child then the last thing they are going to want is a lot of stuff cluttering up the place and everything they need they will probably already have. £300 is a lot of my onsu to waste on something they don't need or won't use.

I'd say a nice baby mobile or a baby soothing toy or if something big I say a soothing chair

I always like to make hampers for my friends with necessities like nappies, wipes a couple of outfits and maybe a personalised book or personalised toy. 🧸 it's hard when you don't know what they already have or what other people have bought them.
