Pregnancy announcement

Me and my partner have been together for 3 years and have a 2yo. We both wanted a baby but also discussed and said it probably was too soon but we wouldn’t change it for the world now.
We spoke about a second child but both agreed that we want to leave it a while and create a bit of a better life, more financial stability and wait until first child was a bit older before we decided on having a second child.
Until yesterday I did a test and found out I was 3+weeks pregnant... I’m really worried about telling him as I know he will support me but he’s going to be disappointed for different reasons and it won’t be the same as our first pregnancy together. I would appreciate any suggestions from anyone with any ideas on announcing or has been in the same situation. Thank you

Hi there congrats! I have just tested as around 3 weeks too. This is my first and I’m over the moon but the timing has some challenges! I just feel so lucky to be blessed with the pregnancy and hope it all goes well. I think in life trying to time things is impossible. The age gap between your little one will be wonderful - I would just try and point out all the positives! Good luck xx

I don’t think it’s an unusual age gap. I fell pregnant when DD was 2 3/4 and she’ll be going on for 3 1/2 when the babies arrive. All my mum friends had their second children before the first turned 3, I was definitely late to the party!

Whilst the timing might not be ideal, there’s lots of positives to focus on. They should be close enough in age to play together and enjoy the same activities. The school run days will be over quicker. You get all the baby and young child parenting, nappies, sleepless nights, career breaks etc over in one go. Once they’re both at school childcare will be much cheaper.

If you were always going to have another anyway might as well do it sooner.
