Heidi Elizabeth was born on Sept 25th, 3.41 kg (7lb 8) (to "Life on Mars" by David Bowie). We are both doing well.

I went to hospital for betamethasone injections and due to gestational diabetes was kept in overnight for blood sugar monitoring. I had a couple of poor CTG tracings and some early contractions so I was kept in a bit longer. In the end the planned CS was brought forward by a couple of days (37+5). Everything went very smoothly, the operating theatre staff were calm and gentle. I was shown and handed Heidi then she was taken to NICU for a few hours' monitoring and glucose drip. I went to see her as soon as I could feel my legs again after the spinal (about 5 hours). We were discharged two days later. She's doing well, a bit jaundiced and v sleepy. I'm still in quite a lot of pain from the CS and now I have a toothache as well...

great news, well done!

CristinaTheAstonishing · 02/10/2007 10:24

Thank you!! She's earlier and smaller than DS and DD1 and also she's home earlier than they were, I feel very grateful to have her home safe and healthy so soon. Heidi failed her hearing test, so we'll be looking into hearing aids and cochlear implant for her soon (DS is deaf and wears an implant, so we were prepared that she might be deaf too).

Lulumama - DH was there for the CS. Help came from unexpected places as a friend had been made redundant in June and she's just returned from honeymoon and hasn't got a new job yet, so she looked after DS and DD1 and could do so at the shortest notice.

Congratulations on the new addition.
Keep us posted how you get on with your hearing aids / CI. DS1 is now being considered for a CI assessment so we are tryinfg to decide whether to have him assessed.

Cristina,

I have only just seen this. Not been around much recently (rl and all that!)
Very many congratulations to you and your lovely new addition to your family.
Bet her older brother and sister are pleased too.
