August bride becomes an August mum

Delighted to announce that I became Mum to Jake Elliot on 16th August.

Induction was meant to start on 7th August but for various reasons didn't really happen until 14th. My waters were broken on the morning of the 16th and I had an epidural fairly early on. After the 3rd or 4th top up my blood pressure started to drop and Jake's heart rate started to dip so they decided to do an emergency c-section.

Jake was born at 3.20pm weighing 9lb 10oz. Apparently his head had barely engaged so even if natural labour had progressed even further, I would probably still have ended up with a section.

Feeding went well from the start and at 7 days old he was already 2oz more than birth weight. I had to stay in hospital longer than usual due to an infection but we were able to come home on the 22nd.

DH has been a star while I am still recovering and we are really enjoying getting to know our son.
