Need advice

So my husbands sister is pregnant with her second baby, but there isn't exactly joy in the family at the minute considering she's in a bad relationship and he doesn't pay for their first baby. My husband is so angry he won't talk about it and his mam is upset as there is 7 of them living in the house.

With all of that happening I don't know whether to be happy or upset 🤔 what should I do?

there is very little you can do as this is not your responsibility. your SIL has the right to make terrible mistakes.

you can make sure she knows she has your love and emotional support come what may. you should not however do anything financial or practical to enable and facilitate any decision which is detrimental to your niece/nephew's long term wellbeing. if your actions (or inaction) make it easier for SIL to perpetuate a situation that is unhealthy for children to grow up in, then that is not ok. aside from that, it's just none of your business.

I am more worried about your DH being "so upset he won't talk about it" - that is toxic masculinity in action and very bad for any family dynamic.

All you can do is let her know you're there for her.

Is she likely to leave him? Let her know you have a sofa (or spare room if you do) available and that you'll help her in any way you can.

If you're husband isn't going to do anything to help the situation he needs to grow up and stop sulking. She needs help, not more stress.
