wow, what a month!
Isla May was finally born after 55 hours of mind bending contractions on May 23rd.
Ive actually blanked most of the marathon out now, but the bottom line is my wonderful cervix failed to dilate, how farking annoying, and day 2 late in the evening I succombed to an epidural - great idea! how to get some rest and stop your contractions in one foul swoop.
Got put on drip to speed things up, failed to push her out when drugs wore off 3 times, so by day 3 at 7am was whisked to theatre as the poor bubba was getting distressed. She was suctioned out, and finally we got to meet her. And boy was she a looker - not. Hilarious, i said to dp in my drug haze that if I had not just seen her come out of me, i would not have believed that she was mine - bless her (sorry Isla if you ever read this).
She soon lost her prize fighter look (though she kept the crazy eyes for a bit) and my god is she gorgeous.
Since then infected stiches, double mastitis, post natal infection and the rest, but getting to grips with this motherhood lark and wouldnt change a thing for the world, especially as she only wakes once a night, bless her tiny self,
