Work - WWYD?

I have just found out I am pregnant, very early days. There are a couple of changes going on at work which if agreed would mean my colleague reducing her hours and I would be covering while my other colleague on maternity leave until October 19. I would be do July 19 and so I'm feeling really guilty thinking that if this all goes ahead, I am going to be leaving them short staffed for 4 months which will be a hard amount of time to recruit someone for. My husband doesn't think I should say anything because it is such early days and he doesn't want anyone to know yet and I do agree that you obviously never know what will happen BUT I feel really sorry for my boss and feel like I should pre warn her in case that changes her decision in reducing the hours to begin with....

WWYD?

Putting this bluntly...not your problem!!

Its way too early days yet to be sorting next year out :)

i wouldnt say anything until 12 weeks.... (speaking from experience)

NOMFUP! That means not my fucking problem. Your dh is right - its early days. Do you think that they would think twice about making you redundant knowing that it would leave you up shit creek?

I know it wasn't my problem, but I was in a very similar situation and told my boss at 6w - I also liked someone at work knowing!

We were a very small team and the extra six weeks made all the difference in being able to recruit and train someone up.

I had a very good relationship with him though, which probably helped my decision.

Agree, not your problem. I told my boss and line manager early on due to the morning sickness, I reduced my hours for the first trimester as I felt so bad in the mornings. Everyone else found out within a few weeks of the 12 week scan as I started showing quite early.

Oh and I forgot to add - I work time term and was due end of September, starting mat leave on the 10th. They didn’t recruit anyone until my last week there Hmm and spent the following two weeks calling me to ask questions.
