Abbreviated version:
Solomon Kurt was born on 30th May at 11:45, weighing in at 8lb 5oz. Mum and baby are fine and well.
Longer version for those who love a good birth story:
I?d had a sweep on the Tuesday am (40 + 4), where the MW told me I was already 4cm. I started feeling twinges and mild BH?s all day. I woke up at 5am on the Wednesday am, thinking uh oh, they are proper contractions now. DH and I went in to the hosp for 7am, by which time I was 6cm and in some pain. I had some gas & air, soon followed by a pethadine shot. By 11am I was 10cm and had pushed him out by 11:45am.
It was so different to the labour/delivery of DS1. The contractions for DS2 were much worse - more intense, closer together and longer. However, on the upside, no ventouse and NO STITCHES!!! I can?t believe what a difference the lack of stitches/tears makes to aftercare recovery. I also hadn?t anticipated exactly how much it hurts pushing out the head, especially when the MW is confusing me with ever-changing instructions ?Push, don?t push, push a little (WTF), pant, push again?. So saying the MW was tremendous ? a big box of chocs for that lovely lady!
I now have a beautiful little boy! Solly is sleeping and feeding well (so far, so good) and his big brother(2yo) is delighted with him and insisted on carrying the baby's car seat out to the car from the hospital. He also refused to go to bed last night without being accompanied by the baby. Long may it last!
