Thought it was about time I posted as I was the 2nd May Lady and Jumped ahead of even most of the April Bunch - My apolgies

Went in for a growth scan as we had been being monitored due to poor obstetric history, Went into the scan room and had dreampt that night that I would be told baby wasnt growing properly and would be born in a few days - with this in mind I was feeling kind of nervous, I never really enjoyed going into the scan rooms since my experiance with Morgan (my stillborn baby), the scan lady basically said just that but she was trying to keep me calm and saying it may not be a clot like last time, she was quite thorough checking the placenta and said the blood flow wasnt reaching baby as it should

So I waited for what seemed an age to see my consultant, the health worker took my bp and had to get her collegue to double check it as it was way abnormal for me, she confirmed that my bp was way up, finally got to see consultant after taking myself off to the loo for a huge cry couldnt hold it together any longer, consultant said she wanted to keep me in for monitoring and I may or may not be allowed home depending. I asked her how long she expected me to be pg for half expecting her to say couple of weeks but true to my dream she was 2/3 days at the most

My bp was still very high after being monitored all afternoon, babies hb was good but he wasnt moving much - so it was decided i would be allowed home for a few hours and had to go back in later in the evening, had to quickly arrange care for dd and get ready - oh and update may thread ladies

I had steroids tues night so didnt get much sleep and on weds had scans and monitoring, saw the pediatric doctors, lots of other doctors and nurses and seemed to sign loads of forms, thursday they called in a consultant who was expert in doppler scans - she had come in especially to do it for my consultant, she said that it had been better than day before but not great and baby still not moving much,

So went back upto my room and was given a gown and stocking and told i would be having baby today - arghhhh - called dp, he couldnt get my friend to have dd until 10.30 and they were taking me in at 10.00, and they didnt want to wait as they were keen to get baby out asap, so he missed the birth but wasnt that worried as he is squeamish

Was taken into theatre (baby was breech) and was given spinal which was a much better experiance than i was expecting, I did have to have a classic cut section (up & down) as there was alot of scar tissue, took quite a long time to get Arlen out and I had to have fentnol (fab stuff) which aparantly is stronger and quicker working than morphine as I had too much feeling while they were getting him out, it was very uncomfortable,

He came out kicking and screaming, which was a relief and was a good weight I was told the scan looked like he was 2& 3/4lb but he was actually 3.10lb so tiny but bigger than expected

He spent 3 weeks in scbu but needed no help, and is a perfect little bundle, so after all that Arlen Rhys was born on the 5th April 2007
