the (rather swift) arrival of DS3 - Takunda Myles was born at 4.17pm this afternoon and we're all home and doing well.

Brief version (as I have a glass of Martini Asti waiting downstairs).

Arrived at hospital at 12.45 contractions still sort of all over the place. Was examined at 1.30 and was "just" 3cm.........EVERYTHING went according to my birth plan, was mobile, had no continous monitoring, refused to have a canula inserted "in case" and I pushed Takunda out on my own (with knees on the bed arms and head hanging over the almost vertical top of the bed LOL) with only gas and air (and a FABULOUS Doula and DH) to support me.

Still completely gobsmacked that with my 'history' I went from 3cm to having had him in just under 3hrs .

Shall update with longer birth story in a few days or so.

tissy · 25/05/2007 14:53

well done, FA. Speaking as someone who had a section... at that last picture!

Skyler · 25/05/2007 15:12

Fab photos. The one of you actually giving birth is amazing. At the time I didn't want anything like that, but now I see yours I am quite jealous I didn't let DH snap away lol. Amazing. Congratulations again

Klaw · 25/05/2007 15:14

Fanny, I desperately want to see a bigger pic of your bottom! Mars pointed out the line on your bottom which is apparently indicative of how many cms dilated you are, so should have been 10cm if fully dilated..... I wanna see proof, would you please email me at klaw at macmail dot com? PLEEAAASEEE, once you have time to that it!

now go and rest, your pelvic floor needs you to rest and recuperate! I know, you feel lieke Superwoman right now....

Tamum · 25/05/2007 15:15

NomDePlume · 25/05/2007 15:54

HOLY CRIPES !!!!!! Just seen the last photo ! You are VERY, very brave outting that one the net !

Klaw · 25/05/2007 15:54

Well, if you don't ask you don't get!

But I did say I'd wait till FA had time...

And I have been intrigued about the line since I saw it mentioned a wee while ago, and I just can't see it well on my mac in a tiny window...

It's all in the name of Doulaing! Honest, I'm not a freak FA!

lulumama · 25/05/2007 15:56

have just googled, to find more info about the line, but cannot find anything!

fireflyfairy2 · 25/05/2007 16:02

Oh Wow!!!

My dd is 5 and has been asking about what it was like when she was born. I explained she came out my bottom, but her aunts tummy was sliced open for her cousin to be born.

I showed her the pic of Takunda being born.. she said "I think I want my tummy sliced open for my babies to get out"

Perhaps I shouldn't have shown her, but oh my, it was amazing!

Aitch · 25/05/2007 16:04

oops, just noticed my typo on takunda's name. very poor show.
so do we know who took the photo? i love it.

NomDePlume · 25/05/2007 16:06

4yo dd was fascinated by the last pic

"it looks like it's coming out of the lady's bum, mummy!"

lol

Klaw · 25/05/2007 16:21

Lulu, mentioned here on Ronnie Falcao's site. You'll need to scroll down a bit...

And as with Radmid, if you want to find something it's likely to be on Ronnie's pages

lulumama · 25/05/2007 16:23

i use that site a lot , but usually for natural induction and turning a breech tips! thanks x

PinkTulips · 25/05/2007 16:28

so that's what the mw was pointing out to the student at ds's birth!

she didn't believe i needed to push, then suddenly said 'oh look at that, can you see the line' and told me to go for it (bit late as i already was!)
