I am very pleased to announce the arrival of our little girl - Carys Faith who was born 3wks and 2 days early yesterday afternoon.

After all the worry about her being breach, she wasn't after all and was born yesterday normally after a long labour (whoever said that labours are supposedly easier by no. 3 was a liar ).

I was admitted to hospital on Tuesday night after a bleed. DH stayed the night as I was having niggling but painful contractions - got examined at 6am yesterday morning which showed absolutely zilch progress. I was gutted after 12 hours of fairly uncomfortable contractions. I decided to get into the bath after the exam at 6am and this kickstarted things - she was born at 2pm and it hurt like hell. Carys is a good weight 7lbs10 and 51 cms and is feeding well, we'll be going home tomorrow to her delighted daddy and brothers.

Thank you all for your good wishes .

We are all totally besotted with our new little girl. She has been so spoiled by friends and family - and yes - we are indeed awash with everything pink.

The birth was actually a fabulous experience. I phoned in ahead of going in to let the OB know that I was bleeding. By the time I got there, they had started preparing for me to have a caesar. After an exam they decided that it wouldn't be necessary.

The rest of the birth was exactly as I had planned. I laboured in the pool/bath (amazing for pain relief) with a lovely midwife in attendance. The pain was much more intense than anything I experienced with my first two children. I think it was because I remained really lucid throughout, I was 100% aware of what was happening.

The best bit of the labour was transition - in the past I was never really aware of transition. This time around - once I reached 10cms it all went quiet (I was on my haunches on the floor and just sat there very quietly - I knew she was descending but the midwife didn't). The look on the midwifes' face when the baby started crowing was comical - she just kept repeating, please don't have the baby - you have to wait for the doctor (midwives are not allowed to deliver the baby). The doctor came racing in about 3 minutes later and she was born in one push.

The hospital was great, we were given fabulous care and I had a private room (lovely for bonding). We are home now and getting used to be a family of five.

Anyway, thanks again for your good wishes.
