Just after I posted on the antenatal thread on Tues night(10th April-due date), I had a bath, and started getting very erractic contractions, anywhere between 5 and 20 mins apart. Went to bed for a bit, til the pain actually woke me up at midnight. Timed them for about half an hour, when they were v regular - 5mins apart. Still hadn't had a show, neither had my waters gone. Called the mw, and when she examined me at 1am, I was 4/5 cm dilated. She did a sweep, and then things really started to happen. Nearly ran out of gas and air, because they had a faulty tank but the 2nd mw had bought spares, thank god! My waters only broke about 10 mins before the birth, and you would have thought there'd been a flood, there was so much
Bang on 6am on Weds 11th April, William Luke was born weighing 7lb3oz and after lots of skin to skin contact, he latched on straight away. Such a world away from ds1 birth and so pleased I was able to do it at home this time.
Ds1 slept all the way through, and only woke at 7.20am. As soon as he saw William, he gave him the biggest smile, and still can't stop smiling at him. Mind you, none of us can stop smiling.
Dh was brilliant. Totally with me iykwim, esp when the gas and air was about to run out.
Bf is still going well, my SPD has completely disappeared(can't wait to take crutches back to hospital) and thank you MNetters for all your advice (and my thrush has gone too (again, thank you for all your advice))
