Had been due the 10th October, but come the 16th I was fed up and getting resigned to membrane sweep and then induction. However, I woke up at 12.30am 17th Oct with a contration so got up and read a book. By 3.15am they were 5 mins apart so woke dp up. Called my mum at 4 to get her to come and look after dd, she took ages getting a taxi and only arrived at 5am by which time they were every 2 mins.

Dp drove straight to hospital where I had to virtually crawl to the labour ward, then got left in reception in front of lots of people in advanced labour [only funny in retrospect!]. Got admitted at 5.45 by which time I was 9cm dilated and contractions were every 90 seconds. Demanded an epidural but they managed to stall, and dd2 Jaya, was born at 6.55am on just gas and air. Dp was absolutely fantastic [far better than the midwife!]

And we were home by lunch time

Congratulations - Enjoy every precious moment!!

NatalieJane · 20/10/2006 11:36

Congratulations again Mamado, Jaya is a very beautiful name

mamado · 20/10/2006 14:26

Due to all the negative reactions we got to Jaya as a name [except on mumsnet!], it has now been relegated to second name, with Sofia now as first name! It certainly wasn't helped by the fact that none of the grandparents could either remember it or pronounce it properly!

Oh, that is a shame, I thought it was a beautiful name, having said that so is Sofia

Is she doing well? Are you getting used to it all yet?

Swizzler · 20/10/2006 18:34

Congratulations and welcome Sofia Jaya (both gorgeous names )

whitestar · 21/10/2006 12:05

A big well done and welcome to your darling girl, and I loved both names

mamado · 21/10/2006 15:02

Thanks for all the congratulations
We are getting used to the new name and trying not to get annoyed at the Grandparents unconcealed joy that we changed it!
Dd1 is being a fantastic big sister, although she does seem a bit sad at times, and Sofia is doing really well other than being almost completely nocturnal!
