to share the birth of any one else's baby but my exhausted dd let me in and the midwife even gave me a part to play in the birth of my grandson at 8.oo am Monday morning. Her bf mopped her brow at the top end and I supported the bottom? end quite amazed that i wasn't kicked out of the delivery room before the main event. I was scared and thrilled in quick successsion and after a long weekend when contractions halted completely after pethidin and diazepam before resuming 15 hours later i was hugely proud of dd's ability to cope on gas and air. (Having been just about knocked out by the "little something to help with the pain" 28 hours earlier she was determined to manage without anything else in case the contractions stopped again.) No name for baby yet partly as he was 4 weeks early, he weighed a surprising (as she was tiny and didn't even tell me she was pregnant until mid January!) 6lbs 2 oz and thank you to those who gave me tips on Grandmaing and I even said at the critical moment it will feel as though its coming thru your bum but don't worry it won't! A fantastic if anxiety inducing start to being a Grandma. Sorry can't stop he is gorgeous.

Congratulations to all of you!

I had my Mum with me for all three births and never regretted it at all - in fact I really needed her there. DH let her cut the cord with DD too!

Thank you for all your messages Overwhelmed that so many mns have offered congratulations (if thats what you do with congratulations). She is now on to the next stage of how to escape from hospital when the medics seem to be completely avoiding the subject of going home. I'm sure i will soon be asking for advice on her behalf again.(she doesn't have access to a computer)
Thanks again espec as i am recent mn
