Baby Swizzler has arrived

Well, I'm back! Baby William arrived Sunday morning. I managed my haircut, pottered round all day, went into hospital with contractions at 1:30 Sun morning. 4cm dilated, much to mw surprise, sent to delivery room to walk about a bit and then things speeded up massively and Wiliam arrived at 4:30am. We had a bit of a scare as the cord was round his neck, so had to have an episiotomy and he was yanked out. All well now - feeding and looking fab. 3.3 kg - about 7 1/2 pounds?

We were kept in for 24 hours, then took ages to be discharged so finally home about midnight yesterday. Rambling nature of post due to little sleep since about Thursday.

Top tip: if you think you'll need extra pain relief, ask for it as soon as you get there. Or you'll be told that it's too late as it's time to push . A 9v battery and a couple of leads is NOT sufficient for pushing out a baby. Not even a whiff of gas and air [sob].

On the plus side, the hospital staff were great, esp the midwife and the doctor, and we wangled a side room due to lack of space.

Congratulations Swizzler. Don't understand why you didn't get gas and air - it is never too late for that! Welcome toWilliam
