Milo was born at the Homerton hospital on Feb 9th. He was four days early and weighed in at 4.2 kilos, 56 cms so pretty big, took me two nights and two days, piuuh. Went from planned home waterbirth to forceps and all but the end result is worth it all! We are new to mumsnet. Live in Dalston, Hackney, London. Any locals with new babies around?!

Congrats Peamo!! Nowhere near you but welcome to Mumsnet and enjoy your wee boy

SenoraPostrophe · 05/04/2004 13:46

Congratulations and welcome to Mumsnet! I'm also nowhere near you, and in fact nowhere near anybody which is why I find Mumsnet so useful! I do have a 3 month old ds (darling son) though so going through the same things as you - how's he getting on?

MrsDoolittle · 05/04/2004 13:50

Congratulations Peamo and Milo
Nowhere near you either, but hello anyway

peamo · 05/04/2004 13:57

Thanks all. As you can see I managed to post twice but anyhow. Milo is doing great. He's had lots of hair since birth and fine little features so is like a little person more than a baby. Last week I have started feeling stronger and more used to being a mum so now he has come with me to see friends for dinners and all and has behaved so well, just sleeps on my lap through meals in reastaurants... so I am happy I can still have a social life even with friends who yet have no babies! Breastfeeding helps make it easy I think. Of course some evenings Milo has wind and tummy ache and screams for ages, like babies do (does it stop at three months???), but we're getting used to that. And the way he smiles in the morning so that we pick him up into our bed makes up for that by far...

Dinosaur and Mammaya should live near to you but you need to start something saying where you live uin the title so they actually see it.

Twinkie XXX (Of South East London - so not too far!!)

hoxtonchick · 05/04/2004 14:02

hello peamo, congratulations. i live down the road from you in london fields (not hoxton) & have a ds who is 2.

Blu · 05/04/2004 15:22

Congratulations, Peamo, and welcome - to both of you.

CountessDracula · 05/04/2004 15:24

What a whopper! many congrats and welcome to mumsnet

dinosaur · 05/04/2004 15:34

Hi Peamo

I live in Clapton, not far from you. Got DS1 aged 4 and DS2 aged 2 and new baby due in August.

Both my DSs were born at the Homerton and this one will be too I should think.

Did you have to go into the Homerton because they didn't have enough midwives available for home birth? This has happened to two other friends of mine recently.

Please keep posting on mumsnet and then we can maybe meet up when I am on maternity leave in the summer.

peamo · 05/04/2004 18:06

Are perhaps hoxtonchick and dinosaur planning to join sunday outing april 25th, tate or royal hall?! Anyway, please get in touch in the summer, dinosaur. Are you on leave or working, hoxtonchick? Perhaps meet for coffee?! Should I send you e-mail through mumsnet?!

I had to go in to hospital because when waters broke (by midwife's internal exam at home) there was meconium. By that time though things needed to speed up, I was getting tired (15 or so hours of contractions) and wanted pain relief so was happy to have waters go and to go in to hospital. I don't think ds was actually in distress but felt safer too. Took another night and half day until he was finally born!

Came up with name Milo as combo from Miles (Davis), Milan (Kundera) and Milos (Forman), but it is apparently a proper name, a pilot in Catch 22 is called Milo as is a chocolate milk drink from Jamaica/Australia...

Do e-mail me, peamo. i work 2/3 days a week & am always up for coffee. actually, i'll send you an e-mail via contact another talker.

Hulababy · 06/04/2004 08:28

Congratulations and welcome to you and Milo

dinosaur · 06/04/2004 10:47

I'm sorry peamo, I won't be coming on 25th, in my preggo condition I find DS1 (who has high-functioning autism) and DS2 (who is very heavy!) too much to manage on my own on a trip into Central London, so we tend to stick to Hackney and surrounds at weekends at the mo. But let's stay in touch and meet for coffee in Stoke Newington or somewhere nearby. I don't usually work Thursdays. Will send you an email through contact another talker. Hoxtonchick, would you like to come along too, seeing as you have already met DS2?!

frogs · 07/04/2004 19:10

Hi guys, and congrats Peamo!

I live in the scruffy bit of N1 in between E8 and City Road, pretty near Dalston Junction with Dd1 aged 8, ds aged 5 and dd2 aged 3 months.

I work, notionally, but at home and so am often around during day, and potentially up for any meetup...

Codswallop · 07/04/2004 19:13
