Straightforward's straightforward(ish!) birth story!

Trinity Lynne Bradford arrived on Weds 19th July at 7.16am, weighing 7lb 12oz. She's sooooo gorgeous!

After a false start a couple of days previously, I woke up at 3am in pain but didn't want to get too excited this time! Half an hour later, DH had been woken up by me going 'ow ow ow!' and phoned the hospital.

As I tested positive for group b strep, we knew we had to get iv antibiotics in for 4 hours before birth, so they told us to come in straight away.

When we got there, I was 4cm dilated. When she told me that, I was so relieved to have 'passed the test' and knew that I really was going to meet lo today!. They put the canula in and gave me a first dose of the antibiotics and told me to climb up and down the stairs for a bit.

Once that got a bit much, we went back to the labour room (this was about 6am) and the mw asked if I would like to get in the pool. I still thought there were hours to go and hestitated, but she said she'd start running it anyway. Thank God she did, because I got in half an hour later with the contractions really starting to hurt.

At 7, I was panicking about the pushing that was to come, and DH joked that if I wanted the fab mw to deliver our baby I had to have it in the next 30 mins as she was going off shift. Ha bloody ha, thought I, but then my waters broke and I got the mother of all pushy contractions. I was just taking breath after it when they told me the head was out!!! One more push and there she was - with time spare for the mw to deliver the placenta and sort out our tea and toast before she went off shift!

Only slight issue was that I'd not had enough time on the antibiotics, so Trinity had to have a canula too and we needed to stay in for 48 hours for her to be given antibiotics and just in case a strep b infection took hold. It didn't, and we're both fine. In fact, the 2 days in gave us a chance to really bond without worrying too much about DD1 (4) getting green eyed!

Sorry for the long, gushy post, but I'm really loved up!!!

SF - huge congrats to you all.
love the name Trinity. We considered it last time around as DH is a huge Matrix fan and the character was a total "ass kicking fox".....
Trust all are well and glad it went ok despite the Strep factor.
