With apologies for the radio silence - it has been rather a busy week. Grin
In brief, because I am a precipitous labourer Blush (DS1 was here in 6 hours and DS2 didn't even wait to get to hospital) we decided to go for an induction of the twins at 37+6 weeks which was Monday.

But I wasn't showing any signs of being in labour and the labour ward was rather full they told us to come back on Tuesday morning so that they could be as prepared as possible (twin births require lots of extra people)
So we duly went home and tried to sleep but it was rather nervewracking.

On return on Tuesday, we waited around a bit, I was examined.
And then at lunchtime, they broke my waters and then moved me over to the delivery suite as I was 5cm at 3 o clock.

T1 was head down and my two fab midwives arranged an epidural to assist with the delivery of T2 (who was breech) later.

So then I was slowly progressing and with the help of some gas and air, a brilliant mural on the delivery suite wall that allowed me to imagine myself on a beautiful tropical beach somewhere, a couple of epidural top ups and a very weird amount of being a lot mroe lucid than with my previous births I was ready to push and at 20.43, IMOGEN was born, weighing in at 6lb12oz

Then the registrar came to give me a scan to see how T2 was doing and the clever thing had TURNED around to a head down position too so I got ready to push again and with a rush JEMIMA was born, in her membranes(!) at 21.12, weighing in at 6lb7oz

We have been home since Wednesday evening and just getting the hang of everything. We are all elated if exhausted.

They are both beautiful, pics on my profile for a limited time only but as usual MNHQ take no responsibility for any broodiness caused.

Merry Christmas one and all.

My Sicilian grandfather firmly belived that being born still in the membranes (as both my brothers were- but not me!) was very lucky, and in particular, meant that you couldn't drown.

Sorry- forgot to say- fantastic news!
