Jake Josef (spelt like that because of hungarian grandad) was born on 3rd July at 2.27am! 6lb 13oz

Went in on Sat afternoon to be induced, as had excessive levels of protein in my urine. Watched the football on the hospital TV and had my first lot of jelly. Nothing happened, but that ight when i was due my second one i was 1cm dilated (the midwife goes 'i can get my finger in there')
and was convinced that i was going to be in labour that evening so didnt give me the second dose.

The next day the doctors decided to break my waters at 12 lunch time. It hurt like hell and the doctor was so rough and didnt even talk to me the midwife had to hold my hand as my DP hadnt got there yet!

I was having serious panics about being put on the drip to start my contractions, that the MW offered me an epidural. I accepted this!!

I had that at 2pm and at half 3 i had my drip put in.

The contractions started very soon after that and i progressed fast-ish.
Had a horrible thunder storm and i was convinced that lightning would strike me down my drip!
The midwife examined me at 12am, and i was fully dilated and could feel the baby's head. This was a good sign, as the babys head was so low that i was farting uncontollably!!!
It was then she decided i should start pushing!

So after 2 1/2 hours of pushing Jake was born!

Also, while pushing i could hear a dripping noise. i didnt say anything cos i thought i had weed myself, but i lifted my hand up to scratch my nose and my drip had come out and i was spurting out blood all over the floor!!

I was very relaxed all the way through, thanks to my epidural and my wonderful midwife, who had to sit with me constantly because of my drip.

The epidural was wearing off right near the end, and i could feel my contractions, so that helped me know when to push.

Unfortunately it had run out after the birth when i was being stiched up (2nd degree tear and also ripped the skin all around my clitoris - ouch!) So i had gas and air! This was good until i asked the MW who was doing it if anyone asked for a few extra stiches to make everything tighter and she gave me a foul look while i giggled like a loon..

My DP cut his cord and was a lot more suppostive than i could imagine and also he was getting a right look in down there.

Congrats Koshka

I am wincing at the thought of your poor lady bits.

Love your choice of name,i like Jake for a boy too.

My drip did exactly the same thing and i can't believe noone noticed. The mw had to cut my nightie off as i was covered head to foot in blood.

Take care
xx

Koshka, so glad to hear you're OK and everything turned out well (notwithstanding a few horrors!) and that you have your wonderful boy safe and sound. Welcome Jake!

Many congratulations. I like the names for your DS. I had a school colleague surname Cosca (Koshka).

HumphreysCorner · 10/07/2006 09:39

koshka-congratulations hun on the birth of your baby boy Jake Josef. 2nd degree tear, had this with DD1 but they injected me with a numbing substance so didn't feel a thing while being stitched. Worth a try about the tightening thing though-lol!
