Sorry this is a week late but would like to let you all know that Sophie Isobel arrived safe and sound at 2-27pm on the 27th June weighing 6lb 3oz-4 days early.

Had contractions on the Saturday night every 10 mins but this stopped at 9am on the Sunday. On the Monday at 2-30pm I had a show and started leaking water so rang the labour ward who told me to come in. I was monitored and kept having intermittent contractions but they kept me in as Sophie's heartbeat was fast. Lost loads more water in the night and had a few more contractions but the next day they said to go home. Then they said as they had 4 inductions booked for Wednesday they wouldn't have time to deal with me if I came back then so offered me an induction there and then. So had a pessary at 10-30am and contractions started immediately. By 12.30pm I was in tears with the contractions as no gap in between so they looked and I was 5cm dilated so could have pethedine and gas and air. At 2pm the gas and air wasn't working and I felt like I wanted to poo so DH rang the bell and they said that was normal so I said if this is going to be a while I needed an epidural. At 2-15pm I said I really need to push as I could feel her head coming out with every contraction. They then decided to have another look and said oh, quick, gloves on and it was all go. Sophie came out with literally 3 pushes and the placenta 30 mins later. Had a student Doctor who asked if he could sit in and watch his first birth so I hope he wasn't too traumatised with my screaming!

So managed this time without an epidural so best of all I can wee properly.

Went home 6 hours later. Having a go at breast feeding this time but think I'm starving her. Have bought an expresser today so I don't have to keep topping her up with SMA Gold.

She is a really good baby (at the moment)and DD1 loves her too. As for me, I just can't put her down!

ah, best wishes to you all!

Congratulation HC. Word of advice - forget the expressor and forget the formula. To successfully breastfeed make sure you DD is latched on properly and feeds whenevr she needs. Good luck.
